Mahabharata starts with the following verse:

🌺नारायणम नमसकृत्य
नरम चैव नरोत्तमम,
देविम सरस्वतिम चैव
ततो जयमुदिरायत।।🌺

“‘Jaya’ must be recited after having bowed in obeisance before Narayana and also Nara, the supreme human being, and also the goddess Sarasvati.”

Narayan, the supreme lord and Nara, the exalted human being, are together worshipped along with goddess Saraswati, before reciting the Epic. The Mahabharata identifies Krishna with Narayana and Arjuna with Nara in the divine pair.

The legend of Nara-Narayana is also told in the scripture Bhagavata Purana. Nara and Narayana were both considered as Gods and Rishis, who took birth as sons of Dharma through his wife Murti who was a daughter of Daksha.

Nara and Narayana travelled to the hermitage of Badri in their golden wagons and engaged in fierce austerities there.

Also, the Nara and Narayana peaks tower over Badrinath.

The Swaminarayan sect worships Nara-Narayana Deva and they are believed to reside at Badrikashram and to be the prime controllers of the destiny of all beings, depending on their karma.

शंख को विजय,समृद्धि,सुख,शांति, यश, कीर्ति और लक्ष्मी का प्रतीक माना गया है।सबसे महत्वपूर्ण बात यह है कि शंख नाद का प्रतीक है।शंख ध्वनि शुभ मानी गई है।हालांकि प्राकृतिक रूप से शंख कई प्रकार के होते हैं।इनके 3 प्रमुख प्रकार हैं-दक्षिणावृत्ति शंख, मध्यावृत्ति शंख तथा वामावृत्ति शंख।

पाञ्चजन्य का रहस्य : पाञ्चजन्य बहुत ही दुर्लभ शंख है। समुद्र मंथन के दौरान इस पाञ्चजन्य शंख की उत्पत्ति हुई थी। समुद्र मंथन से प्राप्त 14 रत्नों में से 6वां रत्न शंख था।
श्रीकृष्ण के गुरुपुत्र पुनरदत्त को एक बार एक दैत्य उठा ले गया। उसी को लेने के लिए वे दैत्य नगरी गए।

वहां उन्होंने देखा कि एक शंख में शंखासुर नाम का दैत्य सोया है।उन्होंने दैत्य को मारकर शंख को अपने पास रखा और फिर जब उन्हें पता चला कि उनका गुरुपुत्र तो यमपुरी चला गया तो वे भी यमपुरी गए।वहां यमदूतों ने उन्हें अंदर नहीं जाने दिया तब उन्होंने शंखनाद किया जिसके चलते यमलोक हिलने लगा।

After the Kuru war, in the moment of a victory that has come at a great cost, Yudhishthira goes to meet Bhishma, who is in his dying breaths.

Yudhisthira’s inquisitive dialogue with Bhishma, which takes place here, spans Shanti and Anushasana parvans of the Mahabharata.

In this dialogue, Yudhishthira asks Bhishma, "Why does one feel sorrow? why does one feel pain?"

Why Do We Chant ‘Shanti’ Three Times?

ॐ असतो मा सद्गमय ।
तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय ।
मृत्योर्मा अमृतं गमय ॥
ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥

(Meaning: Om, lead me from unreal (transitory material existence) to the real (Eternal Self),

From darkness (of ignorance) to light (of wisdom, truth, spiritual knowledge),
From the fear of death to the knowledge of immortality.
Om Peace, peace, peace!

If you attend any Hindu religious ritual, a Vedic prayer or a traditional Yoga class,

you will find that the Shanti mantra (the peace chant) is usually chanted at the end of the ceremony or the class.

(from Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1.3.28)
As you will notice, the concluding line is the chanting of the word Shanti (peace) three times.

The question that sometimes gets asked is – why is shanti chanted three times? Is there a significance to it?

Here is a brief explanation as to why we chant shanti three times.

Our ancient scriptures tell us that one of the main objectives of life is to remove three kinds of

obstacles or to eliminate three kinds of suffering.

In the Samkhya Pravachana Sutram, the very first sutra states:

"अथ त्रिविधदुःखात्यन्त निवृत्तिः अत्यन्त पुरुषार्थः" (1.1)

“Permanent and complete elimination of the three-fold suffering is the supreme purpose of life".

Saptapadi

Karni Mata Mandir, Deshnoke, Bikaner, Rajasthan...

Karni Mata Mandir is located in Deshnoke, Bikaner, Rajasthan. Karni Mata is considered to be the incarnation of Jagdamba Mata. According to some legends, Karni Mata is considered to be the form of Hinglaj Devi.

Karni Mata is the Kuldevi of the Bikaner royal family. It is said that the princely states of Bikaner and Jodhpur were established with her blessings. Rats living in the Karni Mata Mandir are considered to be the children of Karni Mata. According to the legend of Karni Mata.

Once, Karni Mata's step-son (her sister Gulab and her husband's son) drowned while trying to drink water in Kapil Sarovar located in Kolayat. When Karni Mata came to know about this, she prayed to Yamdev, the god of death, to revive her son.

At first, Yamraj refused, but later he was forced to revive him in the form of a mouse. There are more than 20,000 rats present in this Mandir. The rats living here are called Kaba. The prasad offered to the Karni Mata is first eaten by rats and then it is distributed.

The number of rats can be measured from the fact that to reach the main Mandir, You have to walk by dragging your feet. If a mouse comes under your foot and gets injured. So it is considered inauspicious.

Thread on decoding KAMASUTRA

Kamasutra is a book written by Rishi Vātsyāyana in about 3rd century. It is famous for its erotic mentions and is considered as a controversial book.

1. Origin:

After creating the universe lord Brahma created a text, TRIVERG,

which had 3 subjects- Dharma, Artha & Kama, for the well being of humans.

Rishi Manu used the subject dharma and created ‘Dharmshastra’, Viraspati used the subject artha and created ‘Arthshastra’ and shiva’s nandi used the subject kama and created, ‘Kamashastra’ which had a

more than 1000 chapters.

Later, all the 3 shastras were simplified by various Rishi. Out of those Rishis, Vātsyāyana simplified the Kāmashastra and created kamasutra.

2. Is it a sex manual or pornography?

Well, Kamashastra has 7 chapters, in which only 20% of total text talks

about sex, which I’ll explain later but, first lets come to the rest 80%-
