At the beginning of summer Kiki and Dean got the green light from the council to have a marriage ceremony – attended by 6 people in person and by her family back in #China via livestream through a phone on a tripod. #wedding

I went to bed last night really angry and frustrated that people are still forcing learners to be on camera...

At this point I wonder if the holdouts are people we can get through to, who are just in need of more support and information about the science of teaching and learning, or if they are committed to their own ignorance? Is it worth continuing the conversation?

Horn is also the same root as thorn, both signifying a protruding ray, thus luminosity, the symbol of solar power, but also weaponry a symbol of physical power, and pointedness signifying summit or elevation.

But I wanna share a thing on why I hardly consult.

Few months after my first ancestral initiation, I tried to consult with someone. The person didn't get back to me for whatever reason. I too didn't probe because their silence felt like a message to me. So I didn't probe them and I eventually let it go.

A while later, the things I wanted to consult about revealed themselves in various ways. I literally mean various ways. So I eventually got SOME clarity. At some point this person I wanted to consult with me told me they had actually missed my enquiry.

At that point I didn't feel the need to consult anymore following the events that had taken place in my life and my receiving clarity through those events.

Through all this I was able to learn how my guides communicate and the pattern with which they work.

So I got to know them better and understand our connection better.

So when we say be patient, it's real guys. It's not to shove you off, you really need to get comfortable with waiting certain things out. And it's important to know that inside patience, there are things for you

Quick Thread on the Gut Microbiome

Hippocrates said: “All disease begins in the gut.”
While there is significant truth to this, in my personal view of health, it is a little more complex, but it is largely true.

The gut affects the rest of the body, being the gateway to what is absorbed, via the gut-brain axis (directly affects the brain), and due to the metabolism, absorption, detoxification and immune system (70% is in the gut) which takes place/resides in the gut, etc.

This is why it is so critical to take care of our gut health, because once it is negatively affected, it may never be the same again. What affects the gut microbiome? There are over 100,000 trillion microorganisms working together in the gut.

There are 10x more bacterial cells than human cells. Usually, we focus on the bacteria, although there are other species.

Currently, out gut microbiome is less diverse than historically, which can have a negative impact on our health as various species have distinct functions (metabolizing food, producing vitamins like B12 – which we have lost, among other functions).

Up at 3 am reading Google Scholar on why people are attracted to conspiracy theories.

Some broad themes, people are attracted to conspiracies when:
1. They feel powerless or hopeless
2. Feel alienated, low trust
3. Feel angry, like they are victimized
4. Their worldview has been repudiated

This made me think of another concept, which I think is more associated with history, “loss of empire.” All of those concepts—alienation, hopelessness, victimhood, hostility—can, imo, be emblematic of the emotions of loss of empire.

As I sit here this morning I am disturbed. The moral fiber of America is being shredded. The glee people are showing over an election that is rife with corruption is astounding. What is most astounding is the silence of supposed fellow party members.

1/ The “No Surprises Act” is deeply flawed. It should not advance in its current form. Work must continue to reach a meaningful remedy to “surprise medical bills” #SMB that keeps patients out of the middle and provides balance.

Here are several concerns w/ the current proposal:

2/ The proposal should require that the initial “interim payment” made by the insurer for out-of-network services be considered the plan’s offer for IDR, to incentivize the insurer to pay a fair initial reimbursement.

But, the proposal does not.

3/ The proposal should allow the IDR process to consider UCR and an independent charge-based database. Lest it be a form of price-fixing by insurers since the qualifying payment is indexed to the insurer-set in-network median rate (w/CPIU adjustment).

But, the proposal does not.

4/ The proposal should avoid a complex administrative burden that threatens practice viability and leads to consolidation and higher healthcare costs for patients. Cost effective independent physician practice provides patients choice.

But, the proposal does not.

5/ The proposal should explicitly prohibit the IDR process from considering Medicare, Medicaid, and other public payer rates. These are well known to be below the cost of providing care and these programs are not implicated by the #SMB provisions.

But, the proposal does not.

A thread:

1 GOs don't require the use of images. From my reading, DCT is about the use of images paired with words, to aid retrieval. And as @olivcav has pointed out, Pavio worked with simple ideas and concepts.

2 Most of the research into GOs appears to be unhelpful. Hattie lumped all visual strategies together and reported his finding under the heading, concept maps.

3 Fiorella and Mayer, in LaGA, report that mapping, while having a medium-to-high effect size, also take a long time to complete and are difficult to construct.

4 Both studies appear to concentrate on concept maps and in doing so, omit 30+ other GOs. All of which, I argue, are less complicated to read and construct. Skipping over all GOs, to begin with concept maps, is like a ballerina being introduced to pirouettes before a plie.

5 In my opinion, Fiorella and Mayer’s boundary conditions of time and difficulty to construct, are nonsense.

It's crazy how 50% of the country rioted all year for a violent felon who overdosed... yet this dickslap of a "relief" package (VASTLY less popular across the spectrum than Fentanyl Floyd) will get nothing.

I work for a subsidiary of a vaguely "American" conglomerate with ~70K employees that operates in about 80 countries, primarily exploiting cheap Chinese labor. China is literally our business model. This year our CEO sent out no less than 3 company-wide memos about SaInT fLoYd.

Employees were encouraged to attend protests, even in the midst of a so-called "pandemic."

Even employees in Europe. Presumably even the employees in China (although they are kept behind a wall of secrecy).

EVERY employee worldwide was offered unlimited time off to protest?

Oh yeah, funny sidebar: nobody in the company knows anyone who works in the Chinese office. I can name employees in the Poland branch or the French branch or Japan, but nobody has ever met a single Chinese branch employee. This is apparently a CCP regulation lol

Anyways, back to the point--management wanted us out there protesting/rioting! They made it abundantly clear. And it seems weird that they were encouraging it in every country, right?

@RachaelHorning I see why they started it, but I worry it could cause a lot more harm then good.

There are instances where someone might get a script for a new pt from a new provider and have no background on either of them. That’s typically what it looks like with diversion

But I think the frequency of diversion like that where a doc is knowingly overprescribing for illicit reasons is less common than

I think this is going back towards having pharmacists act as the police of a script without the tools necessary to do that

We know how to ensure that a script is appropriate and right for that patient (regardless of med). But community pharmacists aren’t given adequate access to medical records to truly do the assessments they were trained to do

So the idea that pharmacists need to be a gatekeeper to opioids when they don’t have the proper access to records that would allow them to actually identify clear issues of diversion easily and easily recognize others as appropriate isn’t there

I just hate the “pharmacists are gatekeepers” idea

We are not, or at least not supposed to be. The idea that we are somehow to know that a patient is in pain or not (something subjective that we can’t see) and then if we give an Rx that wasn’t appropriate we can lose our license
