HOW SUNDAY HOLIDAY STARTED IN INDIA

When India was under the British rule, the mill workers in India had to work hard for all seven days of a week. They didn’t get any holiday or any kind of leave to get rest.

The British officials and workers would go to church every sunday and offer their prayers while there was no such tradition for the Indian mill workers.

At the point of time, Narayan Meghaji Lokhande was the leader of the mill workers, he presented a proposal of a weekly holiday in front of the Britishers. He said, “After working hard for six days, the workers should get a day to serve their country and society.

Sunday is the day of the Hindu deity ‘Khandoba’. Hence Sunday should be declared as a holiday”. But the British officials rejected his proposal.

Lokhande didn’t accept the defeat, he continued his struggle.

After a 7-year long struggle, on 10th June 1890, British Government declared sunday as a holiday. What’s surprising is that Indian government never issued any orders regarding this holiday.

The dilemma of whether or not to fight against his own family and the dilemma of committing the unforesaken sin of killing his kin.
To bring him out of this dilemma Krishna gave him 'Geetasaar' and taught him the true meaning of life and death as well as Dharma, Karma and Yoga.

In Chap.11 of Geeta,Arjun's delusion disappeared after hearing the Geetasaar but he wanted to see Universal form of the God
Arjuna says,"O Supreme God, Greatest of all beings!I know dat u r not a mere human being.I want to see ur true cosmic manifestation as described by urself".

Have anyone heard of Savarkar working for untouchables and opening a temple in Ratnagiri?

When Savarkar was under house arrest at Ratnagiri (Maharashtra), he toiled hard and persistently, for decades, to eliminate casteism (Jaat-based discrimination).

Result? Well, as Ambedkar himself noted, because of Savarkar's work Ratnagiri district and parts of Konkan were totally free of caste-based discrimination.

(We were always taught of Gandhi fighting for untouchables 😏)

He organised community feasts where people of all castes sat together and ate, he got temples opened for all castes, where properly trained priests from, what were traditionally considered, lower castes presided, he got thread-ceremony (Upanayana) performed on

thousands of ex-untouchable children, to raise the status of women in their own eyes and those of the society, he organized gatherings for women. There are hundred other things Savarkar did to end casteism.

Savarkar had said, "The Kashi Vishweshwara, Jagannath Puri, Dwarka, Rameshwar and other temples should be subject to certain rules and regulations, open to darshan for all Hindus of all castes. No Hindu shall be denied access on the basis of birth - based caste distinction.

ASIA'S OLDEST LIGHTHOUSE!

This is the #Olakaneeshvara_Temple in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, built by Pallava king Mahendravarman in 630 CE.

Apart from being a Shiva temple, it also used to emit light and serve as navigational aid for ships in the sea.

Oil was used to kindle up a huge pot which was placed on the square platform at the top of cave temple. It was kept kindled all night.

The burning pot emitted a lot of light in the night time skies. As such, this is the oldest lighthouse in all of Asia.

एक बार कुछ देवतागण, ऋषि पाताल में जाकर शेषनाग जी से कुछ वार्तालाप कर रहे थे। इसी दौरान किसी ऋषि ने कुछ ऐसा कहा जिससे वह सब हंसने लगे। शेषनाग जी भी अपनी हंसी रोक नहीं पाए और जोर-जोर से हंसने लगे जिस कारण उनके फनों पर स्थित धरती हिलने लगी।

जिसे देखकर ऋषियों में मौजूद अष्टावक्र जी ने अपने हाथों का सहारा देकर धरती को बचा लिया। यह देखकर शेषनाग जी बहुत प्रसन्न हुए और उन्होंने प्रसन्नता सवरूप अष्टावक्र जी को एक दिव्य अंगूठी दी और कहा यह अंगूठी बहुत ही दिव्य है। इसे धारण कर लीजिए और अगर आप इसे उतारें तो दोबारा मत पहने।

अष्टावक्र जी के प्रिय शिष्य थे राजा अज जो कि महाराज दशरथ के पिता थे। एक बार प्रसन्न होने पर अष्टावक्र जी ने वह अंगूठी राजा अज को दे दी और कहा इसे धारण कर लीजिए। राजन यह बहुत दिव्य अंगूठी है। परंतु कभी भी इस अंगूठी को उतारना मत अगर किसी कारणवश इसे उतारना पड़े तो दोबारा मत पहनना।

जब विवाह उपरांत माता सीता ने पहली बार भोजन बनाया तो भोजन से प्रसन्न होकर महाराज दशरथ ने वह अंगूठी अपनी पुत्रवधू को उपहार स्वरूप दे दी। जब रामचंद्र भगवान, सीता जी, लक्ष्मण जी वनवास के लिए निकले तो सब ने अपने आभूषणों का त्याग किया।

Return on Equity (#ROE) and Return on Capital Employed (#ROCE) are two important Financial Ratios used in #FundamentalAnalysis of Stocks.

Return on Equity (ROE) is the ratio of Net Income (Net Profit) of a company and it’s Total Equity (Shareholder's Equity).

Here - Shareholders Equity = Share Capital + Reserves & Surplus.

#ROE is a measure of how much net profit a company is making for every rupee invested by its shareholders in the company.

It can be said that higher the ROE, better it is for the equity shareholders. It tells shareholders about how effectively their money is being used.

However, you should not trust high ROE blindly. Biggest drawbacks or weaknesses of ROE is that it completely ignores debt.

Hence for companies having high levels of debt, ROE will give a higher but misleading value & therefore we need to look at #ROCE along with #ROE.

TYPES OF BRAHMINS AS PER SKAND PURAN:

1) Matra (मात्र) Brahman is the one who took birth as Brahmin but has no inclination towards Knowledge.

2) Brahmins (ब्राह्मण) follow the rules ascribed to him as a Brahmin and has positive qualities.

3) Shrotriya brahman(श्रोत्रिय) are considered to be those who possess knowledge of a particular Veda, and has positive qualities

4) Anuchang (अनुचांग) are those Brahmins who impart vedic knowledge and have the qualities of Shrotriya as well, are pure with clear thinking.

5) Bhruun (भ्रून) is that Brahmin who stays in an Ashram and knows the vedas well.

6) Rishikalp(ऋषिकल्प) is that Brahmin who follows rules and is a scholar of Vedas.

7) Rishi(ऋषि)is that Brahmin who follow Brahmcharya and are pure, capable of bestowing boons and curses

श्रीराम और रावण का भीषण युध्द चल रहा था। एक-एक कर रावण के सभी शक्तिशाली योध्दा मारे जा रहे थे।जब रावण का बलशाली एवं पराक्रमी पुत्र मेघनाद भी मारा गया तब रावण गहन चिंता व शोक में डूब गया।

अब उसके पास कोई भी पराक्रमी योद्धा शेष नहीं बचा था। ऐसे में उसे अपने भाई अहिरावण की याद आयी जो पाताल-लोक का राजा था। रावण ने अहिरावण को अपनी सहायता हेतु तुरंत बुलावा भेजा।

विभीषण को शीघ्र ही अपने गुप्तचरों द्वारा इस बात का पता लग गया। विभीषण जानता था की अहिरावण अत्यंत पराक्रमी एवं मायावी राक्षस है, इसलिए उसे श्रीराम और लक्ष्मण की सुरक्षा की चिंता सताने लगी।

जब विभीषण ने हनुमान जी के सामने अपनी चिंता व्यक्त की तो हनुमान जी ने स्वयं श्रीराम और लक्ष्मण जी की सुरक्षा का दायित्व संभाला।
उधर लंकेश के बुलावे की आज्ञा का पालन करते हुए अहिरावण लंका पहुंच चुका था।
रावण ने तब अहिरावण को श्रीराम और लक्ष्मण का वध करने के...

प्रभु राम और लक्ष्मण अपनी कुटिया में सो रहे थे और हनुमान जी बाहर पहरा दे रहे थे। हनुमान जी ने कुटिया के चारों ओर सुरक्षा का अभेद्य घेराव बना दिया था जिसके अन्दर किसी मायावी शक्ति का प्रवेश करना असंभव था।
