Thread: Pivot levels

Trading based on Pivot levels is one of the popular approaches. Both short-term and intraday traders track Pivot levels to identify support and resistance levels in any instrument.

Let’s discuss how these levels are calculated.

The pivot calculation method considers the previous day prices to calculate the support and resistance levels.

There are seven levels marked on the chart when we plot Pivot as a tool.

There is a Pivot level, 3 support levels (S1, S2 & S3) & 3 resistance levels (R1, R2 & R3).

We have four prices for any trading session - Open, High, Low, Close.

They give us the important information about what happened during that session. Levels is calculated using the High, Low & Closing price of the previous day. Let’s understand Pivot calculation with an example

The difference between high and low is a range of the day.

High – Low = Range
In our example, range of the session is 10 points.

105 – 95 = 10

Mid-price of the session is average of high and low price.

The Mid-price in this case would be 100.
(105 + 95) / 2.

Mid-price is average of range of the session. How about including the closing price to this calculation?

If we calculate the average of High, Low and Closing price - we get the Pivot point.

(105 + 95 + 103) = 101 is the Pivot level in our example.

🔺 #राधा_कुंड की महिमा और इसकी कथा : #अहोई_अष्टमी पर राधा कुंड में स्नान करने से होती है संतान की प्राप्ति -

•भगवान श्री कृष्ण की नगरी मथुरा में "गोवर्धन गिर (पर्वत)" की परिक्रमा के मार्ग में एक चमत्कारी कुंड है जिसे राधा कुंड के नाम से जाना जाता है।

•इस कुंड की ऐसी महिमा है कि, यदि नि:संतान दंपत्ति कार्तिक कृष्ण पक्ष की अष्टमी की मध्य रात्रि को (वह दंपत्ति) एक साथ स्नान करते हैं तो उन्हें संतान की प्राप्ति हो जाती है।

अहोई अष्टमी का यह पर्व यहां पर प्राचीनकाल से मनाया जाता है।

इस दिन पति और पत्नी दोनों ही निर्जला व्रत रखते हैं, और मध्य रात्रि में राधाकुंड में डूबकी लगाते हैं। तो ऐसा करने पर उस दंपत्ति के घर में बालक की किलकारियां शीघ्र ही गूंजने लगती हैं।

अपनी संतान के साथ यहां राधा रानी की शरण में उपस्थिति लगाने आते हैं। माना जाता है कि यह प्रथा द्वापर युग से चली आ रही है।

अरिष्टासुर नामक दैत्य को भेजा था उस समय अरिष्टासुर गाय के बछड़े का रूप लेकर श्री कृष्ण की गायों के बीच में शामिल हो गया, और उन्हें मारने के लिए आया।

भगवान श्री कृष्ण ने उस दैत्य को पहचान लिया। इसके बाद श्री कृष्ण ने उस दैत्य को पकड़कर जमीन पर फैंक दिया और उसका वध कर दिया।

The old man in the right in this picture can be easily mistaken for a great priest !!! No!  He is Dr. C P. Mathew who was the Head of the Oncology Department at Kottayam Medical College and later principal. On the 'right' is Brahmashree Suryan Subramanian Bhattathiri. 🙏

Dr Mathew was the first oncology professor in Kerala, Head of the Oncology Department at Kottayam Medical College and then the principal. Later when he retired he was a flying doctor & visiting professor of allopathic cancer treatment at universities in more than 50 countries.

At the age of 60, he decided to unlearn everything he had learnt earlier and accepted a _Lada Vaidyan_ (a physician of traditional tribal medical system), whom he met on the street, as his guru.

Then this great doctor saved tens of thousands of cancer patients from death using the neo-pagan Siddha medicine he learned from the late _lada_ guru. Patients he saved include many rejects ftom  the Mayo Clinic in America.

He was an in-depth student on Indian cultural texts, including the Vedas and the Upanishads.  What's more, he received the Upanayana from Suryakaladi Mana, famous for its "Tantric rituals" and spent the rest of his life as a Sanatana Dharma Acharya.

यहां हर दिन एक चमत्कार होता है, जिसे देखकर लोग हैरान हो जाते हैं। दरअसल,इस मंदिर में मौजूद माता की मूर्ति दिन में तीन बार अपना रूप बदलती है।मूर्ति सुबह में एक कन्या की तरह दिखती है,फिर दोपहर में युवती और शाम को एक बूढ़ी महिला की तरह नजर आती है।यह नजारा हैरान कर देने वाला होता है।

इस मंदिर को धारी देवी मंदिर के नाम से जाना जाता है। यह मंदिर झील के ठीक बीचों-बीच स्थित है। देवी काली को समर्पित इस मंदिर के बारे में मान्यता है कि यहां मौजूद मां धारी उत्तराखंड के चारधाम की रक्षा करती हैं। इस माता को पहाड़ों और तीर्थयात्रियों की रक्षक देवी माना जाता है।

एक पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार, एक बार भीषण बाढ़ से मंदिर बह गया था। साथ ही साथ उसमें मौजूद माता की मूर्ति भी बह गई और वह धारो गांव के पास एक चट्टान से टकराकर रुक गई। कहते हैं कि उस मूर्ति से एक ईश्वरीय आवाज निकली, जिसने गांव वालों को उस जगह पर मूर्ति स्थापित करने का निर्देश दिया।

इसके बाद गांव वालों ने मिलकर वहां माता का मंदिर बना दिया। पुजारियों की मानें तो मंदिर में मां धारी की प्रतिमा द्वापर युग से ही स्थापित है।

कहते हैं कि मां धारी के मंदिर को साल 2013 में तोड़ दिया गया था और उनकी मूर्ति को उनके मूल स्थान से हटा दिया गया था,..

How to find out the expected targets and what should be the exit criteria when you enter a trade - 🧵

Possible ways to find out the target:

Check if any patterns forming - it gets quite easy to figure out the targets that way. (1/15)

Let's say cup and handle. Our first target in this case will be the height of the handle and final target will be height of the whole cup. It's the same with H&S. First target will be the height of the shoulder and final will be the height of the head. (2/15)

In triangles, the targets will be height of the whole triangle.

Sometimes, after hitting the first target.. stock starts consolidating or take a retest of the breakout. On some occasions, stock gives one sided move non-stop.. without any pullback. (3/15)

A lot depends on the stock behaviour too. If a particular Index gave a breakout, then too stock gives final target without pullback.

Also, if stock gives weekly breakout and market is trending during that time.. even then it gives a one sided move. (4/15)

Recently, we've seen many such stocks -- Kotak Bank, TataMotors, TataPower.

Other helpful thing I learned from @Traderknight007 about exit criteria is using volume expansion and DMA/EMA. I began using it and benefitted. This is recently observed in TCS, DLF & many others. (5/15)

"tatha ca smaryate yojananam. sahasre dve dve sate dve ca yojane
ekena nimishardhena kramaman

This means “It is remembered here that Sun (light) traverses 2,202 yojanas in half a nimisha.”

**Nimisharda = half of a nimisha

**In the vedas 'Yojana' is a unit of - Distance and 'Nimisha' is a unit of - Time.

'Arthasastra' defines A Yojana as being equal to 8,000 dhanus, which is equivalent to 9.09 miles

Nicolas Darvas (1920 – 1977) was a professional dancer and he travelled around the world. He founded a Dance company in 1950s. Someone offered him shares against his Dance programme and that is how he came across stock market and the business of trading.

He reportedly turned thousand dollars into millions in the late 1950s.

He wrote a popular book during 1960 “How I made $2000000 in Stock Market” in which he explained his Box theory. It is a must read.

He used a combination fundamental and technical approach for investing.

He believed in investing in only growth stocks. I think he did not explain a few things in his book, and I found some difference in interpretation of box-theory at various places because of that. This post is my interpretation of his theory.

Darvas was tracking stocks only making new high. I do not think he really talked about 52-week high. He mentioned about stocks breaking 2-3 year high. But 52-week high is mostly tracked for this theory so let us keep it that way to begin with for the sake of objectivity.

मरुत उनचास ( 49 forms of wind) का अर्थ क्या है ?

श्री राम चरित मानस-सुन्दरकाण्ड
के 25 वें दोहे में तुलसीदास जी ने जब हनुमान जी ने लंका मे आग लगाई थी, उस प्रसंग पर लिखा है

हरि प्रेरित तेहि अवसर चले ‘मरुत उनचास’।
अट्टहास करि गर्जा कपि बढ़ि लाग अकास।।25।।

अर्थात : जब हनुमान जी ने लंका को अग्नि के हवाले कर दिया तो भगवान की प्रेरणा से *उनचासों (49) पवन* चलने लगे हनुमान जी अट्टहास करके गर्जे और आकार बढ़ाकर आकाश से जा लगे

इस दोहे में उनचास मरुत का क्या अर्थ है ?
49 प्रकार की वायु के बारे में जानकारी पर आपको सनातन धर्म पर अत्यंत गर्व

तुलसीदासजी के वायु ज्ञान पर सुखद आश्चर्य होगा, जिससे शायद आधुनिक मौसम विज्ञान भी अनभिज्ञ है ।

आपको यह जानकर आश्चर्य होगा कि वेदों में वायु की 7 शाखाओं के बारे में विस्तार से वर्णन मिलता है। अधिकतर लोग यही समझते हैं कि वायु तो एक ही प्रकार की होती है,

लेकिन उसका रूप बदलता रहता है, जैसे कि ठंडी वायु, गर्म वायु और समान वायु, लेकिन ऐसा नहीं है।

दरअसल, ‘जल’ के भीतर जो वायु है उसका वेद-पुराणों में अलग नाम दिया गया है और ‘आकाश’ में स्थित जो वायु है उसका नाम अलग है।’अंतरिक्ष’ में जो वायु है उसका नाम अलग और ‘पाताल’ में स्थित वायु अलग

नाम अलग होने का मतलब यह कि उसका गुण और व्यवहार भी अलग ही होता है। इस तरह वेदों में 7 प्रकार की वायु का वर्णन मिलता है।

ये 7 प्रकार हैं- 1. प्रवह, 2. आवह, 3. उद्वह, 4. संवह, 5. विवह, 6. परिवह और 7. परावह।

Darvas Box is named after Nicolas Darvas, who was a dancer and self-taught investor.

He discovered "Box Theory" after gaining experience from the market and he believed that the shares which move up and down the chart move in a specific box pattern.

There are some condition to use Darvas Box and we will discuss only buy strategy:

1. Stock should be trading near all time high levels
2. Fundamentals of the company should be good
3. Volumes play a crucial role

Prefer to use it daily time frame and above.

When the price is near all time high levels, if price consolidates then there is a range or box formed having a upside ceiling and downside floor. Price consolidates in this range before breakout.

Volumes during breakout is very important and it should be high.

Let's see some example now.

Dmart was trading in a range of 1955-2438 for six months.
After breaking this range upside, DMart price rallied from 2500 to 3200+ (Rally of 28% in 3 months).

During breakout volumes should rise and it should spike up.
