In the first three weeks of 2021 alone, the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management Agency (@BNPB_Indonesia or just BNPB) said there had been a shocking 171 natural disasters in Indonesia.


"Most are in the form of floods, hurricanes and landslides," Professor Wiku Adisasmito from BNPB, who is also the national COVID-19 task force spokesperson, said in a press conference this week.

Indonesia reported 297 disasters in the month of January last year, including floods in the metropolitan area of Jakarta and landslides in West Java. But the disasters this year have been more deadly, with 160 individuals dying so far in January 2021,

compared to 91 individuals who lost their lives in natural disasters in January 2020. Environmental disasters are not uncommon for Indonesia, with a total of 2,291 disasters in 2020 reported by the government.

On the Pacific Ring of Fire, where tectonic plates meet, the archipelago still lies, triggering regular volcanic activity as well as earthquakes. Ecologists, however, warn that the loss of forests and climate change are influencing the severity of disasters.

Well it's funny but not funny really is it @sally_hines? To any adult who does not question why there has been a 4400% rise in UK girls wishing to become boys via puberty blockers, CSH & surgery over the last decade, we ask you to pause, do some research and think.


On a scale of 1 to 10 how funny is it for children to start a lifetime of medication? How funny is it that other comorbidities such as autism, anxiety, depression are not thoroughly explored? How funny is it that girls as young as 12 in US & 18 in UK have healthy breasts removed?

How much does it make you laugh to imagine a child agreeing with her clinician that she never ever wants to have children? And how funny is it that she knows now, as a child, that she is the opposite sex, because peer pressure & social media tell her so?

How hilarious it is that lesbians have no social places of their own - either as young people or adults? That they are not welcome in LGBTQ+ clubs unless they agree that TWAW & thereby can be lesbians. That they are told they are transphobic if they do not agree.

Will you be splitting your sides when legislation like the "Change or Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Bill 2020" in Victoria, Australia is passed? (Be aware that similar Bills are being discussed around the world).

A Palestinian man who should be harvesting his olives is instead reeling from another act of Israeli settler terrorism. This story is all too common.....a thread.


About two decades ago I met a teenager from Palestine who was brought to the United States via a charity for medical treatment after he was shot by an Israeli settler in the West Bank.

Despite great efforts to save this beautiful young man, the bullets which fragmented inside his body did long term damage to his spine and organs and he would ultimate die a few years later. It was crushing.

I came to realize at the time that Israeli settler violence is one of the least understood and yet most common forms of violence Palestinians are subjected to on a regular basis and I wanted to shed light on it.

I worked to create a database of Israeli settler violence, tabulating over 3,700 instances from 2004 to 2011 and producing an analysis on it that can be found here for those interested in the details. Here are some of the main takeaways....

A super dieend quick de-reading of Naomi Klein's (?) book entitled Lo Nogo in n episodes. First things first. "It was twenty years ago tonight". We, me and us never read it. Why? Because there is a premise in there as we and I know it - knew it beforehand. No incorporation


"rules". Conditions rule. And one can change these not as rules but as structural dynamics so to say. A "no logo please!" is behind Klein's theories. Give us a general commodity without being commodity it says. Let's be clean it says. Anticorp is dead now. It's ever been dead.

It was dead from the beginning. When culture surrenders it's been declared the core of the conditions. Clearly Klein follows a dictum reproducing it. The dictum of a loss in the civic space - whatever this is. Is it where there is no war, no wage work? Is it freedom, leisure,

free time? Capitalism is in-corporated in the hype of No Logo, no logo/lo nogo tells "capitalism=corporation". Such a news. In fact No Logo descripes a wish to be without the evil of brands aka incorporation(s). But marketing comes late as it is only the surface of competition.

Simply 20 years after the lo nogo hype it becomes clearer that there is no no-things production. Klein's attack attacked trade but did not attack property or its "core": production and value. Selling images to the masses seems to be close to the "integrated spectacle" one

1) MORE on #Saudi #UAE arms freeze: As we shift to reassuring Gulf dictators that we will continue to “defend” them and sell them “defensive” weapons, notwithstanding arms freeze and pending JCPOA, keep in mind that this is exactly what “propping up” abusive dictators means.

2) These dictators do not represent the people of their country, they’re not legitimately elected, and they’ve repeatedly shown that they see the freedom of their citizens as an existential threat. It’s a fallacy to confuse “defending” them with defending their “country”.

3) It’s also a fallacy to assume that their “security concerns” are national security concerns. They’re first and foremost personal concerns for survival and preservation. This is why they fear democracy and democratic Islamist including the Muslim Brotherhood most of all.

4) The US should have no interest in defending, protecting, and yes propping up abusive self appointed government leaders in the UAE Saudi Egypt. Or apartheid leaders in Israel, where the ruled Palestinians have no say, so also dictatorial.

5) The distinction that “defensive” weapons sold to them might be ok so long as @JoeBiden ends “offensive” weapons used in Yemen is a false one. The wrong is equal. The principle is the same & quite simple: the US should not aid abet support abusive, tyrannical government leaders

First things first, let’s set up some background info.

Loeffler, who is currently in one of two Senate run-offs in Georgia, is not a Georgia Native. Kelly Loeffler was actually born in Bloomington, Illinois.

Not a dealbreaker but keep this in mind going forward.


In 2004 Loeffler married Jefferey Sprecher who founded and is CEO of International Exchange the company which owns the New York Stock Exchange (Yes the one with a market cap of $22.9 trillion).

He is also the Chairman of the NYSE.


Loeffler is the richest U.S. Senator, with her and her husband being worth between $800 million and $1 billion according to Forbes.

So much for “knowing what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck.”


Kelly Loeffler wasn’t actually elected to her current position.

She was appointed by Republican Gov Brian Kemp after U.S Sen Isakson resigned due to health reasons.

She took office as Senator for Georgia on Jan 1st, 2020

Young Russians are less religious than the overall population and the church is highly polarizing. At the same time, a vast majority considers itself to be Orthodox Christian. No signs of a demographic “Islamisation” of Russia. 4/X

The Presidency is worried by reports of non-compliance with just signed Executive Order that makes mask wearing and observation of social distancing in the public mandatory, appealing to Nigerians to give their maximum cooperation for success of the policy.

President Muhammadu Buhari introduced the order with the best of intentions and not with any motive to punish citizens.

The Presidency appeals to State Governments, traditional rulers and religious leaders to play active roles in the sensitization and enforcement of the Executive Order.

To achieve this, COVID-19 task forces and committees should persuade members of the public to cooperate with the government in achieving compliance and avoid crude methods that may create resistance and resentment, thereby defeating the primary goal of the Executive Order.

The Buhari administration is most reluctant to lockdown the country and continues to emphasize the non-pharmaceutical measures and the only way to avert lockdowns is to observe these measures as put in place by the Presidential Task Force.

There is something quite remarkable about Sweden. They decided early on to adhere to established public health practices and refused to panic. They rationalized a viral threat and established a risk based policy. 1/

That policy was built on trust and knowledge of its population. There was no fanfare or dramatic pressers filled with breying politicans. Just dull workman like activity moderating risk while society functioned. 2/

Public trust enables transparency and that is what you see below. A summarized version of Sweden's final Covid report. Take a read and appreciate the thoughtful deliberation. Data analysis is clear, candid and unromantic.

Sweden did many things right but deficits were highlighted, three of which are noteworthy. Two structural (poor investment in critical care and LTCs) and one legislative (recent gov't regulation). All driven by understandable political decisions. 4/

Sweden provides a calm contrast to the chaotic atmosphere of Ontario and Canada. There is an immaturity to our C19 response, political leadership is thin, public health community is lost in a bizarre social isolation experiment and the media is unable to inform. 5/

1/ I've watched (part of) Navalny's "Putin's Palace" exposé, and I suggest you do same. (It is subtitled.) It's half psychological profile/biography and half @60Minutes style follow the money report, citing rafts of documents, using drone footage. Now...

2/ I cannot verify its claims. You'd need to be a Russian speaker commanding a team of forensic accountants, for starters. But the pattern of Putin using "wallets"—old friends and cronies to horcrux his vast stolen wealth—is well known. He may be richest person in world.

3/ "Putin's Palace" hones in on one...palace...estimated to cost $1.3 BILLION. But it's the pattern of how the money is hidden that's more nefarious, esp put against what Russia spends on its people in pensions and otherwise. Here's a @CNN summary

4/ Also how Putin morphed from a Soviet intelligence agent to evoking more of a Russian Orthodox tinged version of Mother Russia. It's all about the money—he seems quite mad about exhibiting wealth—and the film's somewhat treacly comparisons to the Sun King, are apt.

5/ Navalny had a big base of support before this film, but his decision to come back, simultaneously release "Putin's Palace," which has outraged Russians, especially young ones—this is what people are protesting for, and likely dying for, today.
