Can I just point out that it has been admitted that the British & US government told us masks made no difference because they didn’t have enough even though they knew this wasn’t true

Yesterday saw the Government reach a compromise with Peers over the devolution aspects of the UK Internal Market Bill. The Lords were standing strong over an amendment on Common Frameworks - so what has been agreed & where do we go now? 🧵

The purpose of these is to prevent trade barriers, caused by divergence, between parts of the UK. But the 4 governments were already working on 'common frameworks' to manage divergence *by agreement*. The Scottish & Welsh govs argued these were sufficient

Lord Hope's amendment aimed to exclude areas were divergence has been deemed acceptable through common frameworks from the Market Access Principles. The gov amendment makes it clear existing powers for UK ministers in the bill can be used to do that.

So this is good news on the devolution front. But it doesn't solve everything - common frameworks only cover policy areas returned from the EU & the devolved governments also have concerns about other parts of the bill. So what are the key questions now?

If Republican leaders are actually interested in "unity" rather than using its rhetoric to avoid accountability, here's something they could do. It doesn't involve much in the way of consequences, but it does feature truth-telling, apologies and requests for reconciliation.

Ronna McDaniel, Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, Ted Cruz, and Josh Hawley could issue a joint statement and do a press conference in which they acknowledged that Joe Biden is president-elect and that he won a free and fair election by a sizable margin.

They could say that there is no evidence of meaningful election fraud and that judges, including ones appointed by Trump, have rejected much of what the president and his allies have been complaining about.

They could apologize for misleading their supporters over the past months and say that they understand why Democrats may think their claims fueled last week's violence and are horrified if that is the case.

First, approved test is called the “NHS Test and Trace COVID-19 Self-Test kit” - the LFT test in it is the INNOVA test.

Second, the test manufacturer is stated as “Department of Health and Social Care”, and not Innova.

This determines who has the duty of care and safety.

House NOW debating the rules for 117th Congress, offered by Rules Cmte Chair Jim McGovern (D-MA).

McGovern: "The package honors all gender identities by changing pronouns in House written rules so they gender neutral. We made this change for the sake of inclusion,not exclusion..I heard the Minority Leader say this rules package was canceling Mother's Day. Are you kidding me?"
