The best traders have a trading plan.

But 98.8% of the new traders, don't know how to make one.

I analyzed @niki_poojary's account, to learn how we can create a plan on our own.

Here's the simple 8-step process:🧵

Step 1: Multi-time frame analysis

This is done to:
- Find the structure (HH-HL means bullish, LH-LL means bearish)
- Align trades with the trend on the longer timeframe
- Find important Support/Resistance levels
- Trendlines

She does this to find the direction and levels.

Step 2: Identify Patterns

There are two kinds of patterns:
1. Patterns on the chart. (Eg, symmetrical)
2. Candlestick patterns. (Eg, Bearish Engulfing)

She keeps a track of all these patterns and updates them on @niki_poojary daily.

Trades all these patterns without fail.

Step 3: Option Chain analysis

In isolation, OI data won't work. It depends on the way you analyze it.

If you have a bullish view look for high Change in OI added on the put side. Vice versa for a bearish view.

This is just a confirming tool for the view that you've taken.

Simply knowing the direction doesn't mean that you'll make money.

After these, we need to figure out which options we will sell by managing our risk.

This depends on:
1. Individual's Risk-taking capacity
2. Conviction
3. Desired Return
4. A lot of practice

Candlesticks shows where price want to move,
Volume shows the force behind that move,
RSI signals the strength of the force in moving the price
Bollinger Bands signals the space all these together are making for price to move into

Moving Averages I use:

200 MA - for uptrend/downtrend classification
> 50 MA - strong uptrend and never going down below it
> 20 MA - and bouncing back from it - Super-strong counter

@subodhtaigor Yes, I use Price Strength ranking provided on https://t.co/pKpa3N7MQC and keep the stocks with ranking >80 on priority.

I do use Mark Minervini template for screening but it's a little basic, so I added Volatility & Volume filters to it to shorten the watchlist.

A thread of strength in the market.

An analysis which I did during Covid crash with @MashraniVivek on which sectors and stocks were strong, and we did pick pharma, chemical early cycle. Though we do not know where market is heading, doing such exercise always helps to find

strength when market bottoms. Of course, it requires much more reading and conviction building and hence should be taken only as a starting point. Here is how this list has been generated
1. Pick top 500 companies
2. Find list of companies which have fallen < 10% in last 3 months

Totally 61 out of 500 stocks.
This is how the sectors come up.
✍️Auto and Capital Goods stand out
✍️Do not ignore defence for sheer count as there are few companies in sector
✍️Next pocket looks like few beaten down sectors/stocks where may be value is emerging - FMCG, Pharma

The average directional movement index or ADX is an indicator that will not help you find a trend,but can show you how strong a trend is

What is the Average Directional Movement
Index?

1. The average directional movement index was created by J. Welles Wilder in the 1970s.

2. The ADX combines two indicators to create a smoothed moving average that is then shown on your charts.

3. The two indicators are the positive directional indicator that is known as +DI and
the negative directional indicator that is known as -DI.

These are calculated with the price history of the previous high, low and close for the previous 14 periods ( default 14)
The average directional movement index is designed to show you the strength of a trend and not when a new trend is beginning.

One of the most simplistic stock scanning engine for Indian markets is at @mystockedge , its an ATM Machine.

Inside Bar (IB) is an effective trading strategy where a range is formed & we trade on a Breakout/Breakdown.

What is IB?

Textbook definition of IB:
When the current bar is trading inside the previous candle's high and low (range)

Here's a live example from the Tata Steel Chart where you can see multiple IB forming on 15 minutes chart.

I've marked 2 IBs in the circle where we can find the mother candle & the inside bar candle.

So how do we trade this?

If the overall trend is bullish, then you should be looking at high on the mother candle. When the mother candle's high is broken, you can place your SL at:
1. Low of the mother candle, or
2. Low of the Inside Bar candle.

Both the eg are in charts:

And Vice Versa for the Bearish bias.

If the overall trend is bearish, then you should be looking at low on the mother candle. When the mother candle's low is broken, you can place your SL at:
1. High of the mother candle, or
2. High of the Inside Bar candle.

I prefer keeping the high or low of the inside bar candle as my SL.

Remember there are 100s of ways to trade this, ultimately your position sizing & risk management will come into play.

Position sizing can be calculated using the SL, and risk can be managed.

1. A stock Maintains Bullish Momentum till it holds the last Swing .
