Israel segregates Palestinians across different legal statuses to divide & rule:

- Citz. of Israel
- Res. of Jerusalem
- West Bank / Gaza
- Refugee/diaspora (+ foreign passports)

The category you belong to impacts who you can be with.

2/ Israel does this to geographically separate Palestinians from one another, break social, cultural & political cohesion & undermine a collective Palestinian identity.

Localizing each community or "status" is meant to undermine a connected NATIONAL movement for liberation.

3/ The other reason is to limit the number of Palestinians in Palestine.

Israel doesn't allow Palestinian refugees/diaspora to visit their homeland, let alone live in Palestine with a partner.

But any Jewish person anywhere in the world can return and live as they please.

4/ Regulating who you love, have as a partner and whether you can be together is the crux of this tiered system of fragmentation.

Israel has made it almost impossible to change your legal status in order to be with someone if they are from another legal category.

5/ For each combination of categories, Israel has placed draconian measures to prevent people from sharing a life together.

Suffocation through bureaucracy, revoking residency, outlawing places to live, refusal to grant visas or just physical separation are some of those ways.

(1) When you don’t communicate policies effectively, somebody else will, albeit incorrectly. This is called rumours. This is made worse during information vacuum, the period between saying you’ll announce something, and actually announcing it.

(2) Content - The government is in a position to control the narrative, avoid panic, minimise misinformation - how rumours starts. Govt also controls most media machinery - this should be simple.

(3) Audience - Govt must understand that vase majority of population are common people who are earn wages. They want to know how closures will affect them, their wages, their families. It’s day by day survival for many.

(4) Coordination - If you’re announcing something, make sure you know how to explain other aspects of life that is affected. What happens to schools? How will syallabus will be continued? How about kids with no laptops? Daycare? What if my employer refuses to allow WFH?

(5) Explain - articulate how you arrived at that decision, what considerations were taken, and ways to fix that. Assure people who are daily wage earners from their concern about loss of income. For many, not going to work daily, is a death wish itself.

I'm seeing a lot of echoes of the GamerGate phenomenon happening right now, so it is important to revisit this a little, quickly.

GamerGate was a misogynist movement to harass women online who were in the gaming industry or interested in games. They organized on message boards in places like Reddit and 4chan and picked targets together.

GamerGate didn't appear out of thin air. GamerGate was a representation of white male entitlement that has existed in our culture forever. In particular, the mantra "ethics in games journalism" made no sense and they targeted people who noted how games have bad representation.

There, already, were weird online groups for angry men:

Incels: Involuntary celebates, guys who believe (stupidly) that they're incapable for having sex with women because women only like "alpha" guys (Chads).

PUAs: Pick-Up Artists, guys who use abusive tactics to wear down women to trick them into sexual relationships. They typically are only interested in women in terms of "conquest" and dehumanize women constantly in their forums.

This begins on Monday, 48 hours before the #CapitolAttack. I was reading about the #StopTheSteal rally and realized it was on the same day as certification. I told a colleague I was concerned there would be a takeover the Capitol Building to block the vote.

On Wednesday, that colleague sent me a Slack message: “Not to freak you out, but…”

knew what was coming and checked Twitter and turned on CNN. I was still horrified. And I wanted to see everyone of the domestic terrorists identified.

Fast-forward a couple hours and I began pulling images together and created the @homegrownterrorists account on Instagram and posting with the U.S. Capitol geotag, a few hashtags, and captions saying “DO YOU RECOGNIZE THIS TERRORIST?”

Behind our backs, world travelers are using Pakistan's unfrequented North as a pretty comfort couch while badmouthing & resenting the rest of Pakistan... without going in depth about our crises and issues that require an extensive attention and compassionate intersectional look.

@eBay scams are pretty easy to spot and often follow a tried and tested methodology.

A short thread on how you can spot them and not be caught out.

First up, if it sounds too good to be true, it generally is.

This scam is huge on @eBay and sadly happens more frequently than you'd think. Here are some telltale signs:

#1 The price is too good, very random in nature, and doesn't reflect market pricing. This is to draw you in

#2 The seller's account may have a lot of feedback, but what I'm seeing is account takeover being used. This is often where someone's details have been breached elsewhere and the scammers take over accounts. Just checking feedback no longer works.

#3 The location is vague. In this case, UK. Well this island is still pretty big, most sellers don't do this

#4 Very few photos, rarely with any identifying marks such as license plate, etc. This is important as they often lift the photos from Google images and other auction sites.
