Instead of addressing the argument and its points and merits, the offender attempts to refute the opposition on the basis of personal characteristics.

The Texas Sharpshooter

A Texan fires a gun at a barn wall and then paints a target around the closest cluster of bullet holes to create the appearance of accuracy.

Selecting and highlighting evidence that supports the conclusion while ignoring evidence that may refute it.

The Bandwagon Fallacy

An assumption of truth on the basis of the majority of people believing it to be true.

"Everyone believes X, so obviously X is true."

Typically offered without regard for the qualifications or ability of the people in question to validate the claim.

Straw Man

The offender ignores the actual argument and replaces it with a flimsy, distorted, easily-refuted argument (a “straw man”).

By replacing a strong argument with a weak one, the offender can create the illusion of an easy, swift victory.

HAYAGRIVA JAYANTHI

कथा भगवान विष्णु के वामन अवतार से जुड़ी है. भगवान विष्णु ने वामन अवतार लेकर असुरों के राजा बलि से तीन पग भूमि का दान माँगा, दानवीर बलि इसके लिए सहज राजी हो गये

वामन ने पहले ही पग में धरती नाप ली,तो राजा बलि समझ कि गये कि ये वामन कोई और नहीं बल्कि स्वयं भगवान विष्णु ही हैं. बलि ने विनय पूर्वक भगवान विष्णु को प्रणाम किया और अगला पग रखने के लिए अपने शीश को प्रस्तुत किया. विष्णु भगवान बलि पर प्रसन्न हुए और वरदान माँगने को कहा

तब असुर राज बलि ने वरदान में भगवान विष्णु से आग्रह किया कि वह उनके द्वारपाल बने । भगवान विष्णु ने राजा बलि के इस आग्रह को स्वीकार कर लिया और वह राजा बलि के साथ पाताल लोक चले गए। भगवान विष्णु के कई दिनों तक दर्शन न होने कारण माता लक्ष्मी परेशान हो गई और वह नारद मुनि के पास गई।

नारद मुनि के पास पहुंचकर उन्होंने उनसे पूछा के भगवान विष्णु कहाँ है। जिसके बाद नारद मुनि ने माता लक्ष्मी को बताया कि वह पाताल लोक में हैं और वरदान हेतु राजा बलि के द्वारपाल बने हुए हुए हैं।

तब माता लक्ष्मी के आग्रह पे नारद मुनि ने भगवान विष्णु को वापस लाने का उपाय बताया ।

उन्होंने कहा कि आप श्रावण मास की पूर्णिमा को पाताल लोक में जाएं और राजा बलि की कलाई पर रक्षासूत्र बाँध दें। रक्षासूत्र बाँधने के बाद राजा बलि से उपहार स्वरूप भगवान विष्णु को वापस माँग लें।

तब माता लक्ष्मी ने नारद मुनि की सलाह वैसा ही किया और असुर राज बलि को राखी बाँधी

An overwhelming majority of Hazaras are Shia by faith, in contrast to their Sunni Pashtun neighbors.

Hazaras are distinct from other Afghans linguistically, culturally and ethnically.

प्रयागराज के अलोपीबाग में स्थित अलोपी देवी मंदिर को मां अलोपशंकरी का सिद्धपीठ मंदिर नाम से जाना जाता है। यहां मां सती के दाहिने हाथ का पंजा एक कुंड में गिरकर अलोप (लुप्त) हो गया था,

इसी वजह से इस शक्ति पीठ को अलोप शंकरी नाम दिया गया।अतः यह मंदिर मां शक्ति के प्रमुख शक्तिपीठों में से एक माना जाता है। यह एक ऐसा खास मंदिर है, जहां कोई मूर्ति नहीं रखी गई है।

मंदिर प्रांगण के बीच के स्थान में एक चबूतरा है जहां एक कुंड बना हुआ है। इसके ऊपर एक खास झूला या पालना है, जिसे लाल कपड़े से ढंक कर रखा जाता है। मां सती की कलाई इसी स्थान पर गिरी थी। यह प्रसिद्ध शक्ति पीठ है और इस कुंड के जल को चमत्कारिक शक्तियों वाला माना जाता है।

आस्था के इस अनूठे मन्दिर में भक्त प्रतिमा की नहीं, बल्कि झूले या पालने की ही पूजा करते हैं।

यहां मान्यता है कि यहाँ कलाई पर रक्षा सूत्र बाँधकर मन्नत माँगने वाले भक्तों की हर कामना पूरी होती है और हाथ में धागा बंधे रहने तक देवी उनकी रक्षा करती हैं। नवरात्रों में यहां मां का श्रृंगार तो नहीं होता, परंतु उनके स्वरूपों का पाठ किया जाता है।
