One of call or put at ATM is going to go to zero.

Whichever is moving rapidly has a higher probability of going ATM/ITM. Sell the slower one.

If market bias is bullish and a gap-up happens, it comes for selling.

Can buy puts at the breakout of an inside candle as the market has a good probability of at least heading toward the previous day's close.

How @ITRADE191 selects strikes to trade in and how he follows risk management.

Short thread explained via pictures with the help of @niki_poojary.

1. At the start of the week

i.e. on Friday and Monday, DJ Sir prefers to sell OTM options of 50 rs premium in Nifty.

- ATM options won't decay a lot at the beginning
- With this premium reward is good
- Since these strikes are 4-5 strikes away they are relatively safer


2. On Tue/Wed/Fri

He prefers to trade in ATM or near OTM options.

- ATM options have the highest theta decay
- Since there are only 2-3 days to expiry options sellers by default have a higher probability of winning
- Huge reward if market stays flat


3. Directional/Trending days

- Capture huge profit via ATM option selling
- Futures only where he has good conviction
- Even if doesn't trend much decay will be huge
- Only on days Tuesday to Thursday


4. Which series to trade options in?

- INTRADAY trades option selling is ONLY in weekly expiry
- Option buying for hedging is done MAJORLY in next week/monthly expiry
- This way we have time to adjust
- Theta decay slower than weekly

For fun I made a Robinhood account. It took me 5 minutes to sign up, get approved and transfer funds for trading...

Here's some details... Read on.

...it took me another 5 minutes to get qualified for options.

If I share a sign up I get "free shares" and I can share as much as I want up to 500$ worth.

The main UI has a prepopulated "list" of stocks/crypto to watch and links to news.


Clicking a stock opens a "trade" button that looks like this.

Notice options is first, buy second.

Options took me to an approval process (which took about a minute) and now away I go trading Baba options.


Buying stock looks like this. It emphasizes fractional shares.

2/x part has been the gift of Vol compression, which along w/ short Vol profits, has given us significant calendar expansion & dispersion opps, as predicted. I expect this to continue this week as well, as Ivol oversupply should continue to be the dominant force until 12/11.This,

3/x paired w/ the significantly increasing Vanna & Charm flows, will make it hard for any decline until 12/14 to catch meaningful momentum. This said, the narrowing of 20 day RVol as well as the 2 stddev of the 20 day just overhead should cap any rallies, given the dramatically

4/x overextended retail (8-day SMA of P/C equity is the lowest in 20 years) & institutional positioning. This push/pull, should ultimately keep the market fairly pinned this week...Jan 8th callโ€™s on back are incredibly cheap w/ a GA runoff event straddle of only $55, which given

How?

@niki_poojary taught me how to form a weekly trading plan.

I'm going to share what I've learned in this thread.

Here's the simple 10 step process: ๐Ÿงต

1. Check on the daily chart if Bank Nifty is in a higher high or lower low:

A higher-high (HH) is a bullish pattern, it signifies that it is difficult for the market to go down.

If that has formed on the daily chart, the market will give all the surprises on the upside.


If the market is in a higher high mode, look for good opportunities to sell puts.

Usually, at a higher high, traders buy on breakouts and also buy the dips.

If you want a good Risk-Reward, you can sell puts on a dip. (Only if it's showing some reversal)

2. Take High Probability Trades

Simply knowing a higher high or lower low does not make money. It gives you a bias for the week.

Still, you should try to take higher probability trades that align with your view of the market.

This will get you consistency and a good mindset.

3. Support & Resistance

I would say Support Resistance is the most important and favorite thing for @niki_poojary.

She keeps updating these levels with charts on her Twitter handle during live markets daily.

Attaching some examples will do a detailed thread on this later.

1/ A lot of new consumer technologies have been introduced to US households in the last 100 years. But it's taken many of them - like the telephone - more than 50 years to get to the majority of the US. Why is that?


2/ We had to literally teach people how to use phone. Which end goes to your mouth, which goes to your ear. Say "hello" when people call. The motivation of consumers to talk to their friends has always been there, but we had to teach the behavior


3/ If you compare phones to the latest technologies, there's been a huge shift. Things are being picked up much faster.


4/ Even while there's been all this innovation recently, physically speaking, we are still the same human beings from 100,000 years ago.

Again, at such a key moment in UK and at such high political levels, evidence of deep misunderstanding of EU: The PM is under pressure in some quarters to delay #Brexit vote to allow her first to โ€œimproveโ€ deal in Brussels BUT EU is determined not to budge at this stage

2) All EU leaders watching tomorrowโ€™s vote. Of course they want to avoid a no deal #Brexit BUT they feel the deal - so painfully negotiated between EU and UK - is too fresh to re-open. Clarifications, yes but fundamental renegotiations, no.

3) The EUโ€™s international reputation as a tough deal-maker is at stake here too. If Brussels now suddenly โ€œgives inโ€ to U.K. on EU red lines (eg backstop) then that would weaken the EUโ€™s reputation in future trade negotiations with other non EU countries

4) Also on backstop the EU is unlikely to cave in to favour a relationship with a leaving member state (UK) against the explicit wishes and ignoring the deep concerns of a continuing member: Ireland.

5) Both the EU and the PM signed up to a guarantee to protect the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. If either the U.K. or EU can leave the backstop unilaterally then this clearly is no longer a guarantee.

Me : Well, innovation is a tricky word because we use it to describe many things. If youโ€™re talking about differentiation with the adjacent unexplored then youโ€™re experimenting in the โ€œunchartedโ€ space e.g. immortality with magic provided by the special custom built kettle.


X : That sounds like nonsense.
Me : A lot of what people think will be the next great innovation is nonsense. Actually, most of it is. Thatโ€™s the nature of the uncharted space, itโ€™s experimental, high risk and generally results in failure.
