During Uhuru's first term, those who raised the alarm that things were not going on well were branded Raila sympathizers and home guards. The civil society now acquired the name “evil society”. It was especially bad for the Kikuyu critics who didn’t support Uhuru
David Ndii was especially a thorn in the flesh. He insisted the Euro bond was a scam and SGR was a white elephant. Kikuyus would hear none of it. I recall a Twitter reader from Limuru “disowning” Ndii and telling him nobody like him (Ndii) would come from Limuru.
Increasingly, Kikuyus would realize life was not getting better. That their victory was all “hollow.” But they could not blame it on poor leadership, even when reminded 200bn Euro bond could not be accounted for. They compensated with Railaphobia which intensified under Uhuru

One day I challenged some friends for specifics on the accusation that Raila got 50bn to sabotage gvt. How did Raila carry the 50bn from US? Where did Obama get the money? How will 50 bn destabilize Kenya gvt? If you ask such questions: “tunajua wewe ni mtu wa Raila”
Kikuyu hated Obama bcos of Raila. They preached how “huo mjaluo” was using Raila to fight Uhuru. The hatred remained until Uhuru visited US and they had a photo session with Obama. In a local bar in Nakuru, I saw people sharing that picture saying “sasa Raila anasikia vibaya.”
The height of Railaphobia was towards 2017 elections. The community that fought Moi so hard to ensure political competition was now wondering where Raila came from and why he gives so much competition to “Uhuru witu”
That’s when the Kikuyu openly wished Raila dead. I once overheard people in a Kiambu pub wondering why Moi never killed Raila. But shockingly few days later, some women, just from a church in Ruaka were concurring among themselves “akoimania na kuragwo”

Kibaki was a philosopher who became a King. He was not a PRIMARY POLITICIAN who won power. He was a scholar who became a politician, ascended through the ranks, and finally rose to be President. This is the course that should give us great leadership

Back to my question: Why wouldn’t @DavidNdii offer himself to be our President. Look at the many parallels he shares with Kibaki. They are both herdboys in their background. Peasant upbringing and local education in local schools from where they excelled.

They both studied or specialized in economics, Ndii in UON and Kibaki in Makerere. They both advanced in economics in prestigious UK universities; Kibaki in London School of Economic and Ndii in Cambridge (I guess)

They both came back to teach at universities, Kibaki in Makerere and Ndii at UON. They were both recruited to serve in government and develop national policies. Kibaki became the first CEO of Kanu and later key team in the sessional paper on African Socialism

As alluded to in a previous thread, Moi was very popular when he inherited the power from Jomo. He played an important historical role in dismantling Kikuyu hegemony that peaked at Kenyatta’s death. The whole nation supported him thinking it was all driven by national interest

Just that time he was very popular, he made a lot of decisions that laid the ground for his future dictatorship which he was cunningly planning for. Like civil servants’ union and university staff union were proscribed. This time, President's word was law and Moi took advantage

To compensate lack of charisma, Moi resorted to populist roadside decrees that would make people happy. In the process, he was making so many policy decisions at the spur of the moment. Some were so expensive to the country economically and politically

Among such decisions was to ban traditional liquor. The implications were enormous to this day – the gvt spends so much time and resources following up people and pouring liquors. It was a prime opportunity for gvt agencies to meddle in peoples social and economic lives

Kenyans are very thankless. We don’t honour heroes and those who sacrifice for the common good. That’s why charlatans, thieves, and murderers flourish in our politics. In this thread I focus on Kikuyu betrayal that has landed us into the current crisis

A Kikuyu succeeded Moi through a twist of fate, but their leaders were completely outwitted by Moi. It was very selfish to turn around and spread malicious hate against Raila once Kibaki became the President. Without Odinga family, Moi wouldn’t have gone anywhere.

Kikuyus profile of betrayal is painful. Having suffered so much humiliation and victimization under Moi they were all helpless. Moi had control of the police and judiciary and had given immunity to those who offended Kikuyus in any way, including killing them.

Kikuyu houses in Rift Valley would be burnt at will and no legal recourse. A close Moi aide in Maasai land, William OleNtimama openly threatened and insulted Kikuyu people even in Moi presence. “Lie low like an antelope” he would reprimand Kikuyus in Narok

These days the most preferred strategy for option sellers due to improved margins is IRONFLY. It's essentially a short straddle with long strangle. Long strangle acting as 'WINGS', which help in capping the unlimited risk associated with a short straddle.(1/n)

You can also view the position as a combination of Cal & Put credit spreads, if that makes it more easy for you.

There are 3 important things to understand while trading this strategy:

1) Initial size of the Wings
2) Risk Management
3) Adjustments

Since we are selling an ATM straddle, the 1st question is how far our wings should be? Ideally i sell .50 delta straddle & buy .20 or .10 OTM strangle, depending on my view on volatility. So the distance of wings depends on the IV setup. Higher the IVs, greater the distance.(3/n)

If you don't understand greeks, then ideally with 30 days to expiry (dte), wings should be around 300pts either side. If your trading in weekly then it should be not more than 200pts. Higher the premiums, higher the distance as we have more cushion of theta. (4/n)

It is important to understand that we need to reduce the distance of wings with time so as to manage our RISK in gap openings or sudden volatile move. So for eg. if you started with 300pt wings with 30dte, the wings wouldn't give the same protection when there is 7dte. (5/n)

It occurs to me that certain private-jet-flying seditionists who continue to yammer on Twitter about their DC excursions provide us with the opportunity to do a little hypo to explore the benefits of silence.

So let's explore what a hypothetical law enforcement interview *might* look like in this situation. I'm not - I want to make clear - drawing from experience as a lawyer here.

I AM NOT A CRIMINAL LAW ATTORNEY.

Instead, I'm mostly drawing from discussions with my father-in-law.

My father in law is a now-retired homicide cop, and we've had a lot of discussions (especially since I started law school) about criminals and interviews over the years.

So with that in mind, let's look at this hypo.

Back when I went to Bishop’s University, I managed the student radio station, CJMQ. When I started, it was kind of a pirate station. We had an illegal antenna on a roof, and a couple of residences could get us through the radiators somehow. Nowhere to go but up.

Happily, it was 1993. Pump Up the Volume made it cool to be a DJ. Grunge and indie were huge. We went from, like, 12 DJs to 100 and started acting like a real radio station. God, it was awesome. It was like we were on a quest. It felt like a real crusade.

Eventually we decided to try to get an FM licence. This was no easy feat. The bureaucracy was maddening. It cost a lot. We needed to find a proper tower. Long story short, after two years of solid effort, everything came together: CJMQ was awarded 88.9 on your FM dial.

We were going to launch one blissful night in 1995. I planned a massive party and woke up the morning of, not quite believing we’d finally made it. I went to say good morning to my roommate, David, and… Not a single sound came out of my mouth. Not even a whisper.

I had completely and utterly lost my voice. OH GOD NO. I raced to the pharmacy and scribbled a note to the pharmacist: “I’ve lost my voice, and I really need my voice.” She nodded and retrieved two suppositories. They were each the size of large-caliber artillery shells.

THRONES:

Also known as the Elders, they are a class of Celestial Beings mentioned by Paul the Apostle in Colossians 1:16, and they are also mentioned in the Book of Revelations as the 24 Elders.

They are the living symbols of God's justice and authority, symbolised as Thrones.

They are also associated with the Ophanim from the Jewish Angelic Hierarchy (Which we will still cover in detail within this series of Threads).

The Ophanim are referenced as Wheels seen in Ezekiel's vision of the Chariot in Ezekiel 1:15 - 21.

My dad led an organization of over 300,000 employees.

When I took on my biggest marketing & events team to date (35 employees) I asked him how the *heck* he did it. Here's what he said and what helped me every day. 🧵

Remember you're leading all the employees under you, but you're not *managing* them all. You're managing your direct reports, which should be 5-7 individuals max. Focus on them.

When you interact with the employees you don't manage directly, get to know them as people first, that'll be the most valuable information in leading them. Remembering everything you learn about them is hard, but doing so will make you a superhero.

If you're not going to empower the managers under you, why do you have them? If you see room for improvement, let the manager know and let them make the change on their teams and come to you with questions/concerns. This will save you SO much time.

If you're the smartest person in any room - you're doing it wrong. As a leader, your job is bringing together the best people to get the job done - your skillset is identifying those people, not being one of them.

SRI MOOKAMBIKA DEVI, KOLLUR (KAR)

There was an Asura, Kaumasura, who was doing penance to please Shiva and get a boon. To prevent him from asking for a boon, Devi Saraswati made him dumb (hence called Mookasur)
Later, Adi Parashakti slayed him and came to be called Mookambika.


It is said that Adi Shankaracharya had a vision in which Devi agreed to follow him provided he did not look back. He kept walking and was assured of her presence due to the sound of anklets. When he reached here in Kollur, he turned back as the sound of anklets had stopped.


So Devi stayed here and merged with the lingam. The place came to be called Mookambika Kshetram.
The linga has integrated on it’s left side MahaKali, Maha Lakshmi and Maha Saraswathi and on the right side- Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.


A swarna rekha (gold line) divides this linga into left and right portion. Adi Shakthi in this Udhbhavlinga form appears only here.
Devi sits in padmasana and has 4 hands.
Adi Shankaracharya installed the Sri Chakra in front of Devi and also composed the Soundarya Lahiri here.
