 What we need to do it is revise the course. Allow philosophers to become kings. I am an ecologist. There is something I can call TERRITORIAL ADVANTAGE. I use a simple illustration
A crocodile cannot chase an impala on land. Impala has the territorial advantage; it will outrun the crocodile. On water, the crocodile has the territorial advantage; the impala cannot out-swim it. Hence, a crocodile’s first line of attack is always to pull the impala into water
When we killed politics of debate. We allowed insults and violence to flourish in our politics; we gave rascals the territorial advantage. They have thrived and dominated our politics and national life. They grab headlines and seat at the guest podiums in churches and funerals
To attract good leaders, we must tilt territorial advantage to the good leaders. So that our politics becomes more about competition for ideas and policies. We debate more and fight less. We invest more and steal less bcos we don’t need to buy supporters
Remember, the rascal politicians are at their best. They want to the politics to remain as it is. It is their territorial advantage. They can lie about stadiums and other lofty things and won’t be held accountable. They fight and murder without consequences
BUT as long as the politics remain as it is, it attracts low-quality minds. It’s a refuge for social misfits and criminals. We shall continue to have fewer technocrats, fewer women, fewer thinkers, fewer innovators. We shall remain poor and unstable
Going back to philosopher kings. In Jubilee primaries in 2013, Waititu beat Jimnah Mbaru for governor seat (who lost to Kidero). Commenting in Sunday Nation, Phillip Ochieng observed there is SOMETHING WRONG WITH A SOCIETY THAT CHOOSES WAITITU TO RUN THEIR CITY INSTEAD OF MBARU.
Indeed, there is something wrong. I saw David Ndii recently defending the nomination of Bishop Wanjiru as governor candidate. That those opposed to her are motivated with negative elitism
I respect the views but am totally unconvinced. A society educates its children to acquire knowledge and be able to dream and envision better for itself. Every community wants its best trained and learned and gifted to lead them so that they can advance
But in Kenya education is a handicap in politics. Ability to visualize some ideas and policies REQUIRE A THRESHOLD OF INTELLECTUAL ENDOWMENT. We shouldn’t stigmatize education by branding it elitism
Leadership is elite business. It's not for every rank-and-file dimwit and gung go. Its an ivory tower business. A city like Nairobi requires a great mind. Even if it means sourcing such a brain internationally.
But we are petty. That is why the hustler clarion of “kuunda serikali ya mahustlers” is absolute rubbish. The hustler population is created (in the first place) by pedestrian minds who have been in charge of the country. We need thinkers and idealists to envision better Kenya
Great nations have elite institutions. Ivory towers, to churn out philosophers to become kings. We like doing the opposite. Grooming politicians to become Kings and they end up trivializing our entire body politic. Money, insults, violence. Nothing will change with such politics

Kivutha Kibwana @governorkibwana . Law scholar par excellence. UON no less where he served as Associate Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Law, senior lecturer and chairman of Department of private law. Philosopher as they come. Make such a person King and he'd uplift our politics

He was an advisor to Kibaki. And see what he has done in his county. Demonstrated that service is more fulfilling than the mindless accumulation of wealth. He is addressing health, agriculture, and rural poverty in an approach almost unbeatable by any governor

When he offers for leadership to replicate what he has done at Makueni, we scorn at him that he has no political base. He has no political muscle. Why do we want politicians who turned our country into a den of brawny politicking day in day out? WACHENI UJINGA

Kibaki was a philosopher who became a King. He was not a PRIMARY POLITICIAN who won power. He was a scholar who became a politician, ascended through the ranks, and finally rose to be President. This is the course that should give us great leadership

Back to my question: Why wouldn’t @DavidNdii offer himself to be our President. Look at the many parallels he shares with Kibaki. They are both herdboys in their background. Peasant upbringing and local education in local schools from where they excelled.

They both studied or specialized in economics, Ndii in UON and Kibaki in Makerere. They both advanced in economics in prestigious UK universities; Kibaki in London School of Economic and Ndii in Cambridge (I guess)

They both came back to teach at universities, Kibaki in Makerere and Ndii at UON. They were both recruited to serve in government and develop national policies. Kibaki became the first CEO of Kanu and later key team in the sessional paper on African Socialism

The Kikuyu reached a point they hated anybody who talked about corruption. They boycotted reading DN for David Ndiis column that chronicled Jubilee plunder. Seventh thread on Railaphobia – LONG THREAD, YOU CAN DISCARD

If Raila was that bad for giving Uhuru competition, you would imagine that hatred would be over once he decided to support Uhuru. This was the first contradiction. A common accusation again was that he is very selfish; he must be up to something

The Kikuyu accuse Raila of killing democracy in Luoland, yet they hated SK Macharia for supporting Raila in 2013. They even boycotted advertising with Inooro and citizen radio. They hated Tabitha of Keroche and boycotted summit beer – Saying Raila was shareholder

They would say how Luos are slaves of Raila but reserve the severest insults for Kikuyus who don’t support Uhuru. They were happy when Raila was barred from patronizing a Karatina hotel and when NASA was barred from holding a rally in Thika.

The same things done to them by Moi government, they never cared about happening to other people. They never even wanted to hear about corruption. Some Kikuyus openly confessed boycotting Nation newspaper because of David Ndii’s column – it talked too much about corruption.

Having suffered so much under Moi who used state power to sabotage the whole economy and foster impunity, you would have expected the Kikuyu to all be on the frontline championing democracy and rule of law. So that nobody suffers again state victimization

In the last thread we have seen how Kikuyus ganged up against ICC to ensure Uhuru went scot-free – “Uhuru ni witu,” was the clarion call that we exported to The Hague

Just then Kikuyu now became the biggest enemy of democracy. Human rights activists filed a case in court to have Uhuru and Ruto barred from vying for public office as per chapter 6 of the new constitution. The Kikuyu were openly hostile to the court system. Ni matutigithie...

Having worked so hard to have a new constitution to ensure things that happened to the Kikuyu under Moi never happen again, Kikuyu became the biggest haters to the new constitution. That is was the first backward step for the country – courtesy of the Kikuyu

Kenyans are very thankless. We don’t honour heroes and those who sacrifice for the common good. That’s why charlatans, thieves, and murderers flourish in our politics. In this thread I focus on Kikuyu betrayal that has landed us into the current crisis

A Kikuyu succeeded Moi through a twist of fate, but their leaders were completely outwitted by Moi. It was very selfish to turn around and spread malicious hate against Raila once Kibaki became the President. Without Odinga family, Moi wouldn’t have gone anywhere.

Kikuyus profile of betrayal is painful. Having suffered so much humiliation and victimization under Moi they were all helpless. Moi had control of the police and judiciary and had given immunity to those who offended Kikuyus in any way, including killing them.

Kikuyu houses in Rift Valley would be burnt at will and no legal recourse. A close Moi aide in Maasai land, William OleNtimama openly threatened and insulted Kikuyu people even in Moi presence. “Lie low like an antelope” he would reprimand Kikuyus in Narok

Story says that, once there lived a weaver named Kuttan who was a Devi Bhaktan. During one festival time Kuttan was so pleased by the Devi Vigraham that he requested her to come along with him. At that time wind blew heavily and Cloths


in Vigraham flew. Kuttan immediately decorated Devi with his cloth which stuck to Vigraham and returned to his village and with his Umbrella. Devi came with him in that Umbrella and stayed in his place. This place is Mangottu Bhagavathi temple now.

RANI GAIDINLIU:THE LESSER KNOWN FREEDOM FIGHTER

Rani Gaidinliu joined the freedom struggle at 13 &was sentenced to life imprisonment at 16."We r free people—the White should not rule over us.”Thus calling out to her Zeliangrong tribesmen was the voice of 13yr-old Rani Gaidinliu.


She joined the freedom struggle in the present-day Northeast India. Today, her struggle is lost in history as most of her countrymen wouldn’t even have heard her name. B'coz our history textbooks tell us that only Mahatma Gandhi &Pandit Nehru got India its Independence.


At 16 yrs of age, this valiant girl was sentenced to life imprisonment for leading a movement to drive out the colonial rulers from Manipur and Nagaland. Nevertheless, she was released in 1947 after India’s independence and was given the title ,"Rani of Nagas".


EARLY LIFE AND HERAKA MOVEMENT

Gaidinliu belonged to the Rongmei clan of the Zeliangrong tribe in the Tamenglong district of western Manipur. Born on January 26, 1915, she was fifth among eight children.


Her native village was Nungkao, which is present day Tamenglong distt. Brought up in a specially backward region,she couldn't receive any formal education. However,this didn't stop her from joining the freedom struggle. At the age of 10 she came under the influence of her cousin.

MAHARAJA CHHATRASAL BUNDELA was the great Bundela King who revolted against the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb.
Chhatrasal Bundela was born in year 1649 CE in Maur Hill of Bundela region to Champat Rai and Lal Kunwar. He was the descendent of Rudra Pratap of Orchha.


His ancesters were the vassals of Mughal Emperor. He drew inspiration from his father and revolted against the alien rule of Mughals. He was just 12 yrs old when his parents died in fight against the Mughal Army of Aurangzeb in 1661.

When his beloved father attained martyrdom in the year 166, the young Chatrasal was present in the last battle of his father against the Mughal and from these valiant campaigns,..

..he gathered the courage to free Bundelkhand from Aurangzeb’s rule.
He joined the Mughals initially, and was recommended by the Rajput King Mirza Jai Singh to be recruited in the Mughal Army in order to support their Deccan Campaigns.


But serving the alien rule of Mughals which brought chaos and misery to Bundelkhand was unacceptable for Chatrasal Bundela and his father’s incessant struggle against the Mughals kept the fire of independent Bundelkhand alive in his heart.

Have you ever wondered why the sons and daughters of the colonial chiefs and guards who were collaborators live a good life while those of the MAU MAU fighters live in abject poverty?

It should be known that the colonialists reached a point that they knew they had 2 leave Kenya since they couldn't handle the Mau Mau war & the world was moving toward accepting independent Africa.However,the colonialists devised an evil scheme that still eats Kenya upto this day

Under this scheme, the colonial state came up with a plan that saw the first crop of chiefly “big men” being empowered financially to take their children to schools and eventually have those children go to England for further studies...

...and eventually providing a ready-made socio-economic & political class whom state power could be entrusted in the post-colonial era.This explains why their children & grandchildren still hold majority of important positions in govt or in the private sector supported by state.

This also explains why children and grandchildren of these homeguards are always given preferential treatment when it comes to government appointments. Wewe na masomo yako you are always asking why you can never get a job in government...yet you're qualified..now you know.

Santkumaras-The four adorable kids of the Universe.

The Kumaras r the four sages who roam the Universe as children from the Puranic texts of Hinduism named,Sanaka, Sanatana,Sanandana& Sanatkumara.They r described as the first mind-born creations &sons of the creator God Brahma.


Brahma,who had received the knowledge of Puranas from the Universal being(God Himself), imbibed this to his 4 Kumaras.
Sanat Kumaras then taught the Puranas to Narada.Narada transmitted it to Krishna Dwaipayana who in turn scripted them in monumental epic documents of 18 Puranas.

The Vishnu Purana is recorded in two parts,the Vishnu Purana & Naradiya Purana.The teachings of Sanaka of the Kumara brothers r contained in the Naradiya Purana which is also divided in two parts, the first part containing the teachings of Sanaka &second part,teachings of others.


Born from Brahma's mind,4 Kumars took lifelong vows of celibacy against their father's wishes.They r said to wander throughout materialistic &spiritualistic universe without any desire but with the aim to teach.All 4 brothers studied Vedas from their Childhood&travelled together.


The Bhagwata Purana lists the Kumaras among the 12 Mahajanas(great devotees or bhaktas) who although being eternally liberated souls from birth, still became attracted to the devotional service of Vishnu from their already enlightened state.

2. Marvel Comics (before that Atlas) was just a cog in the machine of a bottom pulp publisher run by Martin Goodman, the husband of one of Lee's cousins. It was the lowest of the low in the publishing world.

DODDA GANAPATHI, BENGALURU

Dodda in Kannada means big. Sri Ganesha here is 18 ft tall in height and 16 ft wide. Dodda Ganesha is also known as Shakthi Ganapathi and Satya Ganapathi.

It is said that Kempe Gowda, the founder of Bengaluru, saw a rock here.


The rock had engravings of Ganesha. His sculptors cut the Ganesha murti from that single rock. Later, a shrine was built around the Ganesh murti.

It is believed that Dodda Ganapathi is the protector of Bengaluru. All auspicious events start by praying to Him.


Benne Alankara is the most famous festival here when about 100 kg of butter is coated over Ganapathi every four years and the rich prasad is offered to the worshippers.

Ganesha is also covered in cream colour and is decorated with golden laces and buttons

The Dodda Ganapathi murti is believed to be still growing in size, especially towards right.

The weavers from old Bengaluru tie a coconut to their looms before starting work. When the work is completed, they break 100 coconuts here along with the one tied on the loom.
