By 2006, PB slipped to 11th rank with per capita NSDP of Rs 36199 and is overtaken by states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, HP etc. Haryana climbs to 6th rank with per capita NDPS of 42309 (2/)

Between 2000-2010, Sikkim recorded maximum growth rate of 577%, Uttarakhand 466%, MH 375%, GJ 321%, Goa 284%, Haryana 266%! While Punjab recorded a growth rate of mere 149%, 2nd last from bottom, just above Manipur (130%) which by the way suffers from raging insurgency. (3/)

Why do major globalist institutions have so much interest in Twitter?

A remarkable paper about India has come out today from the IMF. Its findings are mind-blowing. Since this is about India's success, and particularly that of the present dispensation, many are avoiding it altogether.

Here's a thread about the paper and why it's being ignored.

The image below contains certain highlights of the paper. Among them, extreme poverty (PPP$1.9 per person per day) was below 1% in 2019 and 2020 (pandemic year) in India! A low percentage in extreme poverty for 2 consecutive years is considered as elimination of extreme poverty!

To begin with, we have this fantastic achievement of extreme poverty being eliminated. Moreover, it is sustained in the pandemic year! How? Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana- food grains provided to the poor through India's Public Distribution System during the pandemic.

Why is this not the biggest issue being discussed today? Three reasons.

One, the usual suspects can't question the IMF's credibility.

Two, Arvind Virmani, one of the authors of the paper was CEA under economist PM Manmohan Singh. Again, who's credibility will you question?

Three, the Garibi Hatao slogan from the 70s, which has shaped the outcome of so many elections, is slowly and steadily becoming a non-isssue. Of course, there's a long way to go and only extreme poverty has been eliminated. But it's happening nonetheless. And under whom?

In agricultural terminology, I believe America suffers from "top soil depletion".

4/ What does top soil depletion mean here? It is the tendency of America to use up its people and replace them with new people.

This creates a perpetual need for migrants, leading to a positive feedback loop: top soil depletion and being open to immigrants drive each other.

5/ When you understand top soil depletion, the tendency of modern America to use up its own people, you begin to understand the extraordinary angst about race in what is a very open society.

3) During the first NDA govt, #ANI as a private media enterprise made it very big with Govt patronage and projects. ANI was into video/news syndication and production and not into investigative reporting, for us to expect ethics from #SmitaPrakash

4) In many TV debates, #SmitaPrakash has used the word ‘US’ referring to BJP when she is representing ANI. This is perhaps because ANI considers itself a private news syndicate and not a media outlet expected to be neutral. Mind you, ANI is the biggest TV news agency in India.

The reason why Mr Modi uses #ANI and #SmitaPrakash is not only that Smita is part of BJP but because ANI has a monopoly over video news syndication in India. Perhaps they have monopoly even for print news feed. Without them no media house can complete their pages or programs.
