An extremely important point that seems to be completely missed in the discussion of disinformation.
We are exclusively focused on the *supply chain*. We neglect the *demand* for this content.
The truth is that people searched for an excuse, or opening, to be radicalized.
I find the comparison to drugs and addiction helpful here, and it is one that I do carefully.
100 people to to the doctor and get an opioid after a procedure. About 95 will never use again.
A lot of us are exposed to extremist content. Most of us donât get radicalized.
So while the supply and exposure played a role in both addiction and radicalization, it is not magic. It doesnât just take over people. It taps into demand.
So maybe the question is less about how they got the supply and more why they find it so appealing.
Thatâs tougher.
It is much easier to imagine an immediate policy solution to Trumpâs twitter account or YouTubeâs auto play than to the coercive impact of 401 years of America apartheid and racist myth making.
But again drugs suggest that those quick supply cuts donât work.
A century of drug busts made the problem worse. This observation led to the iron law of prohibition: the harder the enforcement, the harder the drugs.
When you cut supply, people who want drugs *will* find drugs â and often more dangerous drugs.
This is where my insight ends.

Keep in mind: Hitler launched the campaign of lies and evil that brought the Holocaust in an age when the Internet was yet to be even dreamed of.

STOP wasting time on Partisan Impeachment Articles!
The 1 Charge you MUST make is criminal, indisputable & the language ensures a Senate conviction.
18 U.S.C. § 2384-Seditious Conspiracy

The text GUARANTEES UNANIMOUS Senate Conviction; b/c to dispute the FACTS that the building was taken, that doing so prevented Congressional business & that Trump's Rally was planned, timed, named & executed to achieve this end is to dispute provable (captured on tape) "reality".
Facts of Language.... Again.. nothing about words used in ANY Speech; but rather words used in its planning &
This is INDISPUTABLE evidence that shows the conspiracy and the plan and is laid out in written materials and audio

Faces of Guangyuan. Here are some (previously unseen) photographs from late-nineteenth century Sichuan, China. They come from the unpublished journals of missionary Florence Beauchamp, and Iâll add some more when I can. [1/?]
[2/?] Florence and Montagu Beauchamp were missionaries for the (Protestant) China Inland Mission. The story of how they got there is pretty special, but you may need to wait for my forthcoming book to see what I mean! For now, thereâs this:
Florence had guests pose for photos in their courtyard. This is Song Dalaoye [ćź(?)性èç·], the âmayorâ of Guanyuan: âHe is in his robe of office and chain of official rank, and is holding his hand painted silk fan. His man servant holds his tobacco pipe ready for use.â [3/?]
At Spring Festival, Montagu went to the Yamen (official residence) 'to photo the 'big man' as he came out in his open chair⊠At the riverside amidst the letting off of crackers, [he] gets out of his chair and prostrates himself in worship of the coming Spring.â [4/?]
These men might (might!) be Yamen ârunnersâ, (probably unpaid) assistants of Song Dalaoye or the magistrate. Runners were despised by foreigners and Chinese alike, âsqueezeâ (i.e. corruption) being their only means of survival. [5/?]

No Barriers to Love. Here are some more extracts from China missionary Florence Beauchamp\u2019s journals, from New Year of 1900. Perhaps her experiences offer some perspective, if not comfort, to those of us who have had a lonely year. [1/12] pic.twitter.com/4moEjuOCn0
