Watching some Christians react to election news is a sober reminder of how easy it is to forget the unborn and the horrific evil and injustice that is legally done to them every day in this country.

Take this sentiment expressed by a Christian journalist, which is simultaneously ignorant, tacky, and completely callous to the horror of the murder of innocents.

It's ignorant, because 1) correlation does not equal causation, and 2) a far more plausible reason that abortion rates declined in those years is owing to pro-life legislation at the state level.

It's tacky, because the primary aim of the comment is to antagonize pro-life Christians who voted for Trump on the ground that he has followed through on many of his campaign promises regarding pro-life policies & judges. Make light of baby murder to own the Trumpsters.

It's callous, because Biden/Harris plan to aggressively rollback policies that limit abortions.
Vote because your down ballot races and initiatives need it.

Here in Colorado, I am fairly certain that Hickenlooper and Biden will win.

But I’m less sure that @BriannaForCO, my amazing house rep, will prevail. I don’t know about the income tax measures on the ballot that would gut state funding in the middle of a massive budget crisis.

There’s an abortion ban on the ballot. I’m not taking chances with that.

And, you know, it felt GOOD to vote against Trump and Gardner. My vote did more good than the many, many phone messages I left for Gardner’s office, which I suspect were just tossed in the bin.

Vote because the DA and the sheriff will directly impact the lives of minorities in your community. Vote because your county coroner could determine whether your trans loved ones are treated with dignity at death.

So shortly after the 2016 election, I pointed out how odd it was that the Reason homepage was dominated by stories either mocking and ridiculing the left for being fearful of what was to come, or articles about how Trump might actually be good for libertarians.

Now, in 2020, we have one party so upset about the election, they’re openly fomenting a crisis of democracy. Here’s the Reason homepage today. There’s one article about all of that. There’s a hell of a lot more about the threat posed by Joe Biden. And more riciduling the left.

I’m picking on Reason. And I’ll add that there are people there who have sufficiently grasped the threat the last four years, despite the general editorial direction of the magazine. But it really underscores the disappointment I’ve had with my fellow libertarians in general ...

... in the Trump era. We’re supposed to be the alarmists. Proudly! We’re supposed to the ones who overreact when government overreaches. Because alarmism is a hell of a lot better than complacency. And history tells us that governments tend not to give powers ...

... back once they’ve claimed them. In the Trump era, too many libertarians not only stopped being alarmists, they spent most of their time scolding and ridiculing the people who were. I mean, it’s still bizarre to me that the philosophy that ...
