So I am in the middle of a document co-authored by Stephen Whittle. I took a little detour to have a look at Whittle on YouTube.
Here are a few clips. This one surprised me. Whittle recalls being heckled by Butch Lesbians and is asked about their role.

Well worth watching this to see how he understood Butch Dykes. Basically described as unable to receive sexual pleasure and this was not for Stephen. A strange position for someone in the LGBT community to take.

Whittle is well aware that there has been a spike in natal girls referred to GIDs. Also the high % who are autistic. Thinks ASD is may be just a feature of being trans. See the age range for referrals is from 3 years old.

Some of us are concerned about co-morbid mental health issues. Gender Identity Ideologues have an answer for this. “Minority Stress”. It’s the social stigma that creates the mental health issues and transition is positioned as a potential “cure”

I suspect this slide is shown to draw a comparison to sartorial choices as a social signifier. Whittle also says lots of Butch lesbians used to tell him they would have transitioned if they were younger. Hence spike in natal females, to Whittle, could be more coming out.

I suppose a lot of us are still upset, so let me share something amusing.

This concerns this book, one that I had been unaware of until I came across a report by Andrew Lang in The Times.

In a piece in 1922, EV Lucas hailed the author as the Indian Nyren.

Calcutta Cricket Club Scores 1844-54, the first known book of scores outside the British Isles, was published in 1854.

In 1867 a Hindi coaching book was published in Agra. It was translated in Urdu in 1868.

In 1889, a Marathi coaching book was published in Baroda.

JM Framjee Patel's famous Stray Thoughts on Indian Cricket was published in 1905.

In between all this, this book came out in 1891. As you can see, it has a long name.

I shall refer to this as Cricket Guide.

Classical Libraries (thread)

The Architecture of Western Libraries, from the Minoan era to Michelangelo deals with the architectural evolution of the spaces in which written and graphic material was kept, from the Minoan times to the Italian Renaissance (ca. 1600 BCE- 1600 CE).

Nowadays these rooms are known as "libraries"; however, the library acquired its present form through a turbulent journey.

The five chapters that comprise the book cover the Greek world, the Roman world, the Byzantine period, the Western Middle Ages, and the Renaissance, respectively.

Author K. Sp. Staikos examines in detail the special features of the chambers used to store books in public, private, monastic and palace libraries.

1. "Ritual and its Consequences" with "Games: Agency as Art".

Both detailed analyses of social technologies (rituals and games) and how people engage with them by essentially suspending the normal complexities of the world within a structure. Would reward detailed comparison.

2. "The Collected Schizophrenias" with Ratcliffe's "Feelings of Being"

Autobiography of someone with schizophrenia paired with a detailed phenomenological analysis of what it's like to be schizophrenic. The latter would be an interesting lens to read the former through.

The reason for the pairing is fairly obvious, but each of these has had significant and distinct impacts on my understanding of love.

I am reading and reviewing books of @SamHarrisOrg this December, with the extra time available after work. First book I read is following.

The book is written by the neo-atheist Sam Harris. I am a passionate sunni Muslim. I would like to learn and review some of his work, and judge them from my personal view based on Islamic theological perspective. It shall be interesting because as you would know, the neo-athiests

want to abolish religions altogether and suggest a world where things are based on science and logic. How is that coherent and how is it relavent? Let's see for ourselves. I would like to thank the local Muslim handles and atheist handles who actively participate in discussions.

I would advice everyone to stick to a more academic discussions and not to deviate the discussion with mockery of Islamic and atheistic beliefs.

This book talks about lying and it's ill effects on the individuals and at large on the society. In a nutshell here are some of the gists of the book. The book basically identified specific ways in which lying is detrimental and why we should avoid lying.

I am reading seed catalogs in the morning sun. A thread. 🌻🥦🌽🍅🍆🥔🥒

Seed catalogs are good reading my friends. The best ones are little glimpse into possibilities emerging. Of course there's the possibility of your amazing next season garden. But also the possibility of change in the world.

Especially this is true for the companies with social missions, like worker-owned Johnny's or FEDCO. Both are more than 40 years old, part of the organic movement, the local food movement, and trusted providers of good seed and good advice in the northeast US.

Seed catalogs can be a connection to the past and to the future, especially the ones, like my favorites, that also encourage seed saving by offering open pollinated varieties, and tell the stories of some seeds origins.

They also reflect what's changing in the society. And there's a lot that is inspiring in my morning reading even before you get to the luscious tomatoes or the bright green peas and all the promises of the next growing season.
