Veteran Pakistani journalist @IKPeshawar reveals in a latest TV talk show hosted by @rifatorakzai that TTP was part of the agenda of the recent visit of Pakistani Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI to Kabul. 1/3 https://t.co/lFwI53KmLU

2. Recent developments reveal these diverse & apparently contradictory connections of TTP. The mysterious killings of six mid-level TTP commanders b/n May & July in Afg was arguably the quid pro duo that Pak would have demanded in return for brokering the US-TB deal.
3. After these developments, among others, TTP reunified realizing that it'll be weakened if it didn't unify. While some sections of Afg establishment may ve links with Halqa Mehsud, after the 2014 APS attack it took action against the Swat Taliban.
4. Following the APS massacre, Afghan forces bombarded position of Fazlullah and his associates on Pakistan's insistence. In 2018, the Afghan ministry of defense officially announced Fazlullah's killing in a drone attack.
4. Going by @EUEofficial35's interview with @SaleemKhanSafi, Afghan establishment engaged factions of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar or the Mohmand Taliban. In the same interview, the allegations of Indian support were also leveled, including financial assistance and medical treatment.
Very excited to witness the arrival in Beirut of 100 armoured patrol vehicles, a donation from \U0001f1ec\U0001f1e7 to @LebarmyOfficial. This is a great practical example of the \U0001f1ec\U0001f1e7\U0001f1f1\U0001f1e7 partnership, and of our longstanding support for the LAF's vital role in keeping the Syria border safe and secure. pic.twitter.com/ZUjazx4xkd

The west, mainly #US and #UK, supply the Lebanese Army with light and medium calibre weapons and transport vehicles in the hope that one day the army would stand against #Hezbollah. Most Lebanese believe the Army is "sacred" and can't be criticised and its leader is an almighty.
Hundreds of millions of dollars are spent monthly in #Lebanon on over 125,000 members of the security forces when the number of inhabitants is around 5-6 million. This large number has mostly a prestigious role, ease connections & services & employ people to satisfy politicians
#US offer weapons & training for Lebanese officers abroad, impose a condition on the Lebanese government to have the strategic weapon depot in the Christian area of the country. The excuse would be a fear of #Hezbollah that has quality & quantity #Lebanon is not allowed to have.
#US delivered once 6 Hellfire missiles to the Lebanese Army but held the decision to fire these missiles on targets that should be previously approved by the Americans. The US once denied the permission to kill Al-Qaeda leader in the Qalamoun, Abu Malik al-Talli while in #Lebanon

About two decades ago I met a teenager from Palestine who was brought to the United States via a charity for medical treatment after he was shot by an Israeli settler in the West Bank.
Despite great efforts to save this beautiful young man, the bullets which fragmented inside his body did long term damage to his spine and organs and he would ultimate die a few years later. It was crushing.
I came to realize at the time that Israeli settler violence is one of the least understood and yet most common forms of violence Palestinians are subjected to on a regular basis and I wanted to shed light on it.
I worked to create a database of Israeli settler violence, tabulating over 3,700 instances from 2004 to 2011 and producing an analysis on it that can be found here for those interested in the details. Here are some of the main takeaways....

We'll do well to remember the lives that have been lost to various atrocities in this blood-stained country of ours...
While there is no doubt to my mind that many officers in @HqNigerianArmy are heroes, think Sani Bello who saved the life of Gen. Ironsi’s ADC, Andrew Nwankwo, or Usman Jibrin, who flew many Igbo officers to safety during the pogroms of 1966...
or even Mohammed Shuwa, who ensured that Igbos were protected in the area under his command, the fact is that on the balance, @HqNigerianArmy has a murderous reputation, and as I once referred to them, are an equal opportunities brutaliser.
is only an arm of @NigeriaGov, and this video attempts to chronicle some of the atrocities committed in #Nigeria, by both state and non-state actors.

This is one of the tragedies of #Nigeria.
The number of people who have been killed in mass atrocities in the country since “independence” perhaps gets close to the 100,000 mark.
Imagine that!
