GOOGLEFINANCE(ticker, [attribute], [start_date], [end_date|num_days], [interval])

The above function is a basic one.

Let's decode each parameter in this:
⚡️ Ticker: This is the symbol of the stock.

"NSE: RELIANCE" is the ticker for Reliance Industries

⚡️ Attribute:

The attribute to fetch about ticker from Google Finance and is required if a date is specified.

The following data can be fetched:
-Open
-Close
-High
-Low
-Volume
-Market Cap
-Price (Ltp)
-52-week high
-52-week low
-Change in price

⚡️ Start_Date (Optional): The start date when fetching historical data.

⚡️ End_Date|Num_Days (O): The end date when fetching historical data, or the number of days from start_date for which to return data.

⚡️ Interval (O): The frequency of returned data; either "D" or "W"

Basics of the moving average:

It takes average of the price for the duration we want.

So 10 days moving average means an average price of 10 days closing price.

Common types of Moving Average:
Simple, Exponential, Weighted.

Use only one type in your trading setup.

Central Pivot Range (CPR) acts like a magnetic level for any stock/index. Traders use it for intraday but it works on higher time frame as well.
CPR is just the three lines which is like a magnet and price approaches these levels. CPR acts like a support or resistance.

What are these three lines now?

𝗣𝗶𝘃𝗼𝘁 = (High + Low + Close)/3
𝗕𝗖 = (High + Low)/2
𝗧𝗖 = (Pivot – BC) + Pivot

For intraday chart use previous day candle HLC. Similarly, for Daily Chart it would be Monthly HLC. For Weekly/Monthly Chart use Yearly HLC.

This indicator is available on Zerodha Kite (web version) and it works well there. It's also available in @tradingview but setup needs to be done based on the time frame.

CPR can be used in finding trend.

If CPR is moving up for the next day, then trend is up. If CPR is moving down for the next day, then trend is down.

Some examples for both:
In the below chart of Nifty (5 mins), CPR is moving down and price is also in downtrend.

A thread on SCALING IN - OUT METHOD -

What is scaling in - out?

1. Scaling in is adding on to the positions when they move in our favor (Pyramiding).

2. Scaling - out is exiting the portion of the position when the trade moves in our favor.

I have explained about pyramiding in previous tweets.

// Why use scaling out instead of exiting all position at once ?

When you are using ALL - out method where you exit positions at once, mostly you use wider Trail SL as you want to capture big moves and exit all when trail sl hits.

The problem with this method is that either you make too big or many times your medium size winners turns out to become Scratch trades.

So, when we use the scaling out method, we are trying to capture most of our medium size trades , so that they do not turn into scratch trades.

// How to use scaling out method -

Say we have to got a signal to enter in a trade, and we have to buy 1200 qty according to our Position sizing.

So, we have to divide this 1200 qty into parts, how much? It depends on you.

We can divide into 3 parts, each part 400 qty.

'Entering the trade'

Entering a trade without ascertaining a certain things is gambling.

In this masterclass we will learn the pre-requisites to enter a trade.

We understand what reward to risk (popularly called risk to reward) is.
It will be denoted by R:R.

We will also try to bust a few myths about R:R and how to avoid losing trades.

Before entering a trade, you need to determine 3 things.

1. Entry trigger
2. Stop loss
3. Target

1. Entry trigger = Reasons for entering a trade. There could be multiple reasons or a single reason for entry.

Generally a set of reasons AKA confluence is a higher probability trade and a generally a safer entry.

Example of an entry trigger.

2. Stop Loss.

The price in the opposite direction of the trade where the trade is exited, at a loss.

At this level, the reason for the entry becomes invalidated according to TA and the price can then move in the opposite direction, probabilistically.

3. Target is the possible price level that the asset might touch based on previous trends or confluence AND where a possible reversal could occur.

Target is the next path of least resistance from where the price might reverse.

We will always ONLY use TA to determine all 3.

Many traders have no consistency when sizing their positions.

The pros have this down to a science.

Here's my dead simple, 3-step guide to position sizing (and to outperforming 99% of other traders in the process):

Step 1:

Define how much of your account you're willing to risk per trade.

Personally, I never risk more than 1% of my account equity.

If I have $100,000 account, I will never risk more $1,000.

This ensures I will never blow up my account on one single trade.

There are successful traders who risk 2-3% of their account per trade, but I find it most calming to risk 1% or less.

The first step in this process is completely up to you - only you can dictate how much risk you can tolerate.

Step 2:

Look for entries & exits that are within 5% (preferably less) of each other.

This means if I buy a stock & have a 5% stop loss, I can put a 20% equity position on & still be risking 1% of my equity.

Your account will thank you w/ 20% in a stock that goes up 100%.

Step 3:

Position size using this formula:

Total equity (100%) / Trade Stop Loss %

So, if your stop loss is 4%, here's the math:

100% equity / 4% stop loss = 25% Equity Position Size

(assuming 1% equity risk).

Here's another hypothetical calculation:

2. The key to long-term survival and prosperity has a lot to do with the money management techniques incorporated into the technical system.

3. The profitability of trading systems seems to move in cycles. Periods during which trend-following systems are highly successful will lead to their increased popularity.

3.1 As the number of system users increases, and the markets shift from trending to directionless price action, these systems become unprofitable, and undercapitalized and inexperienced traders will get shaken out. Longevity is the key to success.

4. In order of importance to me are (1) the long-term trend, (2) the current chart pattern, and (3) picking a good spot to buy or sell.
