Paizoverse, I starting a series of posts re: our marketing and media priorities and resources. Seeking to be more transparent and to strategize alongside the community.

 First of all it looks like we have at least 160 Pathfinder, Starfinder, and Paizo Organized play products to promote in 2021. So simply building awareness is our first priority for social media.
Second, we have 30-ish, and growing, licensed partner relationships to promote including their products, shows, and crowdfunding campaigns. Once again that’s about awareness.
Thirdly we have Pathfinder and Starfinder Compatible publishing partners who sell on Paizo dot com. We’ve updated our store landing page to make them easier to find and I’ve started a monthly blog.
I’d say fourthly there are charitable nonprofits I’d like to start shedding the light on. I think they are something we can all build community around.
Additionally there are events like Cons and Humble Bundles of course, that are also top-tier.
There are also PR posts like our press releases, interviews, and reviewer’s.
New this year, I’ve been given the greenlight to promote more of the best tutorial and how-to videos from YouTube.
Of course we also have our live-plays we are producing, even more in 2021, if pandemic conditions allow. These will involve Paizo staff less Staff and outsourced talent more.

We have a small, but growing list of producers who have taken the step beyond non-commercial production and signed licensing agreements with us. Promoting them is a priority.
That is why community rallying points like @whatdoyoudopods are so valuable, allowing me to promote the paizoverse community as a whole. I hope to do more of that this year.
Lastly in regard to resources, we don’t have a Social Media Producer at this time. I’ll know the timeline of the hiring process soon, but I am the only FTE resource at this time. Of course I report to the V P of Marketing and Licensing who is the mastermind behind me.
So that’s the state of things at the moment and I wanted you all to know the intricacies and hierarchies, so that we can all support each other in amplifying this incredibly diverse and growing community. Adventures Ahead!

P.S. I’ve scheduled a series of Lore, Rules, and Art auto-posts on the weekends which are less product-focused and meant to be more inviting. I’m looking forward to showcasing Pathfinder and Starfinder basics to new players and celebrating them with veterans.

The numbers on their face for the @FCC RDOF auction are exciting - lots of Gigabit winners. But it’s important to remember the job is just starting. These rural areas don’t magically get Gig today or tomorrow. 1/

What does Gold- Backed mean?
The Chinese Elders have been accumulating gold for hundreds of years. They are gold-rich. Some of their gold was loaned to the Central Banking System so that it could fund the rebuilding of Europe after the many war-torn years from World Wars I and II

Recently heard the podcast by @sikhyaent on Saravana Bhavan founder P Rajagopal, who stalked the young daughter of an employee & had her husband killed. Observations: the podcast's title ('Dosa King') glorifies PR, the script trivialises his crime, calling it a mere "scandal"

It refers to the whole stalking and murder episode as something that led to Rajagopal's "fall" - i.e a story of crime against a woman is turned into a story about the impact of the said crime on its perpetrator, not its victim.

It refers to the stalking victim as a fit antagonist for the protagonist Rajagopal, as Rajagopal's nemesis. But the point is, she set out to be neither. She didn't make him part of her life story. He forcibly, violently disrupted her life.

The podcast ends by telling us how Rajagopal's employees and friends and many others abuse the woman he stalked, for pursuing the case of her husband's murder and bringing Rajagopal to justice. It also tells us that some admire her. And it "asks us to decide" where we stand

I find it disturbing that a story of a powerful man feeling entitled to ruin a woman's life & trying to get away with murder, is turned into a story of HIS "rise, popularity, and fall".

So, I want to talk about how sexual harassment and fair pay are linked at Google (and beyond), because I think that's an angle that isn't being highlighted enough in the coverage of these walk-outs. I'm going to frame it largely around my personal experience there. Thread.

When I was sexually harassed by the director of the area I was working in, I was afraid to report it because I was worried that "getting him in trouble" would result in the subtle retaliation of missed leadership opportunities.

I wanted to continue working on the team I was on, because I'd gained a lot of very deep knowledge and expertise in that area, as well as reputation and camaraderie with the other folks working in that area. I didn't want to make the situation more "difficult."

To get promoted at Google, several need to happen: 1. you need opportunities for ownership and leadership above your current level (basically, opportunities to show you're working at the next level you're trying to get promoted to). The work you're "assigned" has a big impact.

2. You need glowing reviews from peers, *at or particularly above the level you're hoping to get promoted to.* Basically, you need people a lot more senior than you to say you're doing awesome work.

Four hours south of Aswan in Lower Nubia, right by the Nile, is a region dotted with temple complexes built more than 3,000 years ago. Some like the temples of Amada, Derr, and Beit el-Wali go as far back as 1500 BC.

A little further south, not far from the border with Sudan, is another complex dedicated to Ramses II, Hathor, and Nefertari in the village of Ipsambul, better known locally as Abu Sunbul and internationally as Abu Simbel. These go back to the 13th century BC.

Djeser-Djeseru, also known as the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut in Upper Egypt also dates to 1400 BC. Over 500 years older is the nearby Mentuhotep II, also a mortuary temple. Both were dedicated to the cult of Amun Ra, besides their respective pharaohs.

Far older is the Ġgantija complex of Malta. Going as far back as 3600 BC, this one comprises of two temples entirely made of stone and enclosed in a stone wall. From the figures therein, it's understood to be a site of some kind of a fertility cult worship.

Dating from the same period are the limestone megaliths of Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra, both said to have once hosted ritualistic sacrifices as part of the same fertility cult worship as found in the Ġgantija complex. Malta has some of the oldest temple complexes in Europe.
