1. Never be Greedy in a High Vix Environment.

Sellers selling OTM get lured by higher premiums and sell near ATM or more than they usually do, this will burn your hand as High premiums also mean that you will end up giving higher premium back than usual as soom as it spikes.


2. Hope

Hope drives a man crazy and this is true for trading the most, hoping for a reversal to cut the pain. Humans have a tendency to avoid the pain and one does not accept the pain by not booking a loss

3. Not having a setup in non directional Selling

You cannot make money long term if you don’t have a set of rules or adjustments in place already if you are trading long term. Make a plan or a system so that you always know how to survive. Your Position is non D not the market.


4. Getting Egoistic

Many people think they are supreme because they are selling options much likely because of the Trend on Twitter in the community,

Sell ATM CE and PE (Short straddle)
Buy OTM CE and PE (Hedge it by buying on both sides)

Look at the picture below for an example of an iron fly in current weekly options.


2/ Why do traders like iron fly?

Many traders want to receive maximum theta or max credit.

This is why they sell straddles.

But straddles have unlimited risk in them, and can't handle gaps or intraday spikes.

Sam has a collection of purses because he likes to carry things around. And he also loves to have his nails painted bright colors because he thinks they “look beautiful.” And he’s right – they are beautiful…


So he proudly wore his red nail polish to kindergarten this morning because Sam has absolutely no concept of nail polish only being for girls or reason to think anyone would possibly have a problem with beautiful nails.


But his classmates did have a problem. A big one. Sam was ridiculed for being a boy with nail polish. They called him names and told him to take it off. This lasted the entire day.
