 BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno: The inflation environment remains benign. Latest trends show an increase in food prices, but this is transitory.
BSP: A resurgence of COVID-19 cases globally tempered economic activity. Optimism on vaccines has lifted market confidence, improved prospects for global growth.
BSP: further easing of quarantine measures should facilitate economic recovery in PH in the next few months.
BSP: Accommodative policy rates together with fiscal support will quicken PH recovery.
BSP's new inflation forecasts:
2020: 2.6% (from 2.4%)
2021: 3.2% (from 2.7%)
2022: 2.9%
BSP: The higher estimates are due to global oil prices, rising food costs.
BSP: The outlook can be described as continuing to be benign.
Will BSP scale down regulatory relief given low takeup of loans? Deputy Governor Francis Dakila: There are green shoots that we are seeing that show increasing demand.
BSP on regulatory relief measures for bank: As the recovery remain tentative, domestic demand's trajectory remains on the downside. Given this, this emphasizes the need for continued policy support from the BSP.
BSP says such policy support shall continue to be in place until economic recovery comes underway.
BSP: The decision to withdraw monetary policy support will be considered 'very carefully'.
BSP: While monetary policy can be most effective in the crisis's first phase, gov't spending and structural measures have a much greater role in ensuring sustainable recovery, restoring the economy's potential growth output.
BSP: It can be emphasized that liquidity remains ample.
BSP on banks' reserve requirements: Any action will be data-dependent.
BSP: We have been looking at indicators of financial market activity, and market liquidity remains ample.
BSP: Liquidity-easing measures have so far released P1.9T to the financial system. That's almost 10% of the country's GDP. https://t.co/4w2ggBwlgF
BSP: We believe our policy actions are appropriate to underpin increased credit activity but uncertainty surrounding the pandemic has limited usual transmission of policy.
BSP: While financial market confidence remains fragile, business and consumer confidence is rising as COVID-19 vaccines are being delivered globally.

The Philippines still does not have vaccines ready for inoculation 9 months into local quarantine.
BSP: The uptick in inflation could probably be felt until the first half of 2021. Going further, we expect inflation to temper.
BSP: The inflation trajectory indicates a temporary shock.

Food prices, especially for vegetables, have been rising in recent weeks.
BSP: The key difference in today's episode is it's taking place when demand is muted, key structural reforms are already in place like liberalization of rice imports.
BSP: We would welcome greater circulation of liquidity in the economy, away from deposits in the various instruments of the BSP.

My case is not "pushing back against transgender rights" it is case about belief discrimination.

It is about the right of people not to be discriminated against at work & by service providers for holding or not holding a belief about the nature of sex and gender identity.

Adding up some numbers in the public domain is not much of an investigation.

It is the work of a pocket calculator and 15 minutes.

The rest of the time was spent looking for the fabled shady right wing money... none was found

Durham County Council has upheld my complaint that Councillor David Boyes breached its Code of Conduct for communications in respect of Travellers. This would appear to be the first time in England that a councillor has been so held to account for such communications. [1/16]


The grounds for the complaint are already set out by me: https://t.co/0MDqO6dyja. In summary: on 7 May 2020, Cllr Boyes posted on a Facebook site he shared with another councillor a video of scorch damage from barbeque trays and littering on and around a picnic table.

The table was in a picnic area in a nature reserve in the Easington constituency which Cllr Boyes represents. The video was accompanied by a comment from Cllr Boyes linking the ‘state’ of the tables with Travellers. That post attracted a number of comments which he liked.

Those liked comments included:

▪️ ‘scum should be f**k*ng shot oxygen thieves’ [edited]

▪️ ‘And they wonder why many people do not welcome them’.

Cllr Boyes accepted at the hearing that he did not have proof that Travellers caused the damage and that it was wrong for him to so implicate Travellers.

Excited to be able to share this comprehensive review on the many ways that climate change is increasing bushfire risk in southeast Australia, just published in @CommsEarth.

This was a huge collaborative effort across climate and fire science experts, including from @ClimateExtremes and @BushfireHub, who came together following the #BlackSummer disaster in Australia.

Our review focuses on forest fires in southeast Australia (NSW + ACT + Victoria).


The #BlackSummer fires were unprecedented:

*In their scale (23% of all southeast Australia forests were burnt)

*In their power (for every month of the spring and summer seasons), and

*In the number of fires that developed into extreme pyroconvective events


Climate in SE Australia in 2019 was also the hottest and driest on record.

Regional warming is part of human-caused global warming trend.

Dry conditions were part of a 3-year drought with consecutive winter rain failures. Long-term winter drying trend appears to be emerging.


Dry years in southeast Australia are usually also hot, (and wet years are usually cool), due to land-atmosphere feedbacks.

And years of large bushfires in southeast Australia have clustered in the hot-&-dry quadrant of historical climate conditions

...and eventually providing a ready-made socio-economic & political class whom state power could be entrusted in the post-colonial era.This explains why their children & grandchildren still hold majority of important positions in govt or in the private sector supported by state.

This also explains why children and grandchildren of these homeguards are always given preferential treatment when it comes to government appointments. Wewe na masomo yako you are always asking why you can never get a job in government...yet you're qualified..now you know.

The best way to know if people like your product is NOT:

- Have a lot of emails in the waiting list
- Become #1 on PH
- Become #1 of HN or Reddit
- Have people that saing "I'll pay"
- Have a lot of free users

The best way to know if they're actually pay for it.

The only thing that matters is your product providing a value, and you can't know this until people will pay money for it.

We can have a first signal of a product/market fit after the launch by check how many sales we've got in the first 24h. Some scale:

200+ This has a high potential.
100+: This has a potential.
50+: Some people need it.
10+: People almost don't need it.
0+: People don't need it.

This is for a single time payment product. For a subscription probably it should be less because people hate subscription.

And obviously, you should have a lot of traffic like 3-5k+.
