Effort thread: I’m going to dissect the “Three Lighthouses” speech that Mike Pompeo just gave at the Hudson Institute.

This was a major speech — he is speaking for the entire American foreign policy

Right off the bat, Pompeo calls the Ukraine war an inflection point, and calls for a international “alliance for freedom” to fight a combined China and Russia.

This is a significant departure from US foreign policy ideas up to now.

Up until this speech, there was still the hope/expectation that Russia and China could be diplomatically cleaved.

This hope is now gone and American foreign policy views the two countries as indissoluble allies in all but name.

A key admission in this speech is that the United States does not intend to put boots on the ground in Ukraine under any circumstances.

Instead, the US will rely on an endless supply of weapons to Ukraine To undermine the Russia/China “axis”.

Pompeo is underlining the strategy of “fight the Russians to the last Ukrainian”.

He is conflating current Russia with the Soviet Union, and turning the ideological Cold War into a resources Cold War.

Another 11 days, on 27 October, we will be commemorating the martyrdom of Brig Rajinder Singh Jamwal, MVC, who gave us Kashmir. 1/2

Brig Rajinder Singh Jamwal, MVC, a Dogra Rajput, was a descendant of General Baj Singh who died serving Maharaja Gulab Singh, the modern day founder of Jammu & Kashmir Princely State. Grandfather and father of Brig Rajinder Singh were also Army Veterans. 2/3

Pakistan made preparations in September 1947 to invade Kashmir. A mix of regular Pakistani Army soldiers and tribals numbering about 5000, in about 250 lorries reached Muzaffarabad on 22 Oct 1947. There was a Battalion of J&K State Forces in the garrison of Muzaffarabad. 3/4

Muslim soldiers of this Battalion who were more than half of the strength, mutinied and killed their Commanding Officer, Lt Colonel Narain Singh and his adjutant, and joined the Pakistani invaders with their arms and ammunition, along with some locals. 4/5

Afghanistan has shown the world -- enemies & allies alike -- that our military & intel assets are largely irrelevant because we can't deploy them successfully.

The blame lays at the feet of multiple Presidents. The Generals. The Spies. The Congress.

America's Elites are trash.

China knows it.

They will become emboldened, covertly & overtly. War over Taiwan and contested islands in the S. China Sea and E. China Sea is now more likely.

Russia will consider similar covert & overt moves, focused on Crimea, & former Soviet satellites.

The fear is that China & Russia will act in concert.

Why? America was whipped by a tiny rebel force and couldn't even retreat properly.

Meanwhile, the American people are angry, COVID weary, & divided.

If there were ever a time to push American hegemony aside, this is it.

If Cold War III grows hot, America will need to quickly build up & work with foreign counterparts.

But who will trust America after Afghanistan?

Who believes we have the leadership to use our military might well?

Who will trust us when we say "We Will Stand With You"?

About the “bjp takes Hindu votes and doesn’t work for hindus” line. What are Hindus actually voting for?

People I know who voted for BJP both in 2014 and 2019, some of them quite religious, all of them hindus, voted for development and corruption free society.

BJP gets only hindu votes because the abrahamics don’t vote for them. Not because the whole of the Hindu vote goes to them en bloc. Loads of difference. And the ones who do, do it for varied reasons.

The SM problems aren’t the problems on ground. Where everyday survival is paramount. This is not to say the criticism about a lot of Hindu related matters isn’t true. It’s just that your priorities & the priorities of the ordinary people don’t match.

You want Hindus to think and act like the abrahamics - not gonna happen any time soon. My very religious mother-in-law was extremely happy after the Ram Janmabhoomi verdict. But she voted BJP because in her words “they are good for our country”.

What is Golden ratio?

In mathematics, two quantities are in the golden ratio if their ratio is the same as the ratio of their sum to the larger of the two quantities.

If two numbers be designated by a and b (a>b>0), then they are aid to be in Golden ratio if a/b=(a+b)/a

Thus, Golden Ratio is solution to quadratic x2-x-1=0(assuming a to be x and b to be 1 in the same ratio).
This approximates to 1.618033.
Since in a Fibonacci series every number(except first & second) is sum of the previous two, golden ratio approximates ratio of larger/smaller
