It's bigger than Marriott, Netflix, and Twitter...combined.
Yet 99% of us don't actually understand the business.
THREAD: The story of AWS & lessons we can learn from it
AWS is electricity for the internet.
It is the largest provider of on-demand, cloud computing services in the world.
With 33% of a $150 billion global cloud market, AWS makes our digital lives possible.

While you may not be AWS's customer, you sure as hell use it every day.
Here are some of its clients:
- Netflix
- Zoom
- Verizon Wireless
- Coinbase
- Vanguard
- https://t.co/Dqrc2Fvb9B
- Morning Brew
- GoPro
- Samsung
- Snap
- FanDuel
So now, you hopefully buy why AWS important.
But how did it start?
Let's hop in our tweet thread time machine....

It's 2003.
You're Jeff Bezos & your business is growing like a weed.
1999: $1.64 billion (revenue)
2000: $2.76 billion
2001: $3.12 billion
2002: $3.93 billion
2003: $5.26 billion
But you have a serious problem...

You are missing out on revenue every time you send an email.
There are common mistakes I see 99% of businesses making with their email marketing,
& today I want to address them.
Here are 7 common email mistakes you can fix TODAY to make more $$$ЁЯСЗ
// THREAD //

#1 Poor segmentation
Segmentation is one of the most important aspects of email marketing,
Especially for eCommerce.
Not segmenting properly can mean lots of unsubscribed, low opens, emails landing in spam, and more.
Here's an intro to segmentation

Segmenting your list is key.
It improves engagement, open rates, and sales\u2026
...but you need to know what segments to set up.
(otherwise it's pointless)
Here are 5 segments that are 100% essential \U0001f447

#2 Poor subject lines
Subject lines get your emails opened.
There's a lot to this that I can't fit here,
But if you're interested, my Campaign Calendar Guide has 100's of great subject line examples ЁЯСЙhttps://t.co/kBQoyzcFry

#3 Too wordy
In emails,
You never want to be too wordy or longer than necessary.
Keep your copy as brief as it can possibly be.
Your customers are busy - provide all the info you need to sell the click, and nothing more.
And this also leads to the next common email mistake..
#4 Selling the product, not the click
Don't sell the product in your emails - your product or sales pages do that.
The goal of emails?
To sell the click.
This means inspiring curiosity to get prospects to click-thru.
Stop writing entire sales pages in your emails.

Imagine what you want in a company, codify it in the form of filters, create a screen. Example below:
"Market Capitalization > 50
AND
Market Capitalization < 3000
AND
((Average return on capital employed 5Years > 25 AND
Price to Earning < 20) OR
(Average return on capital employed 5Years > 15 AND
Price to Earning < 10))
AND
Sales growth 5Years > 10
AND
...
...
Operating cash flow 5years /5 < Operating cash flow 3years /3
AND
Operating cash flow 7years /7 < Operating cash flow 3years /3"
In this screener, i am looking for
smallcaps with a min mcap,
which have a bare minimum average ROCE & valuation accordance to the unit economics
which are also growing topline
and where operating cash flows are also increasing, on an average basis
