THREAD: Why do Kenyans view anti-BBI sentiment as an endorsement of Ruto? Githeri media journalists are projecting our refusal to adopt a misguided constitutional review, as part of a mock cock-fight between political rivals.

Far from it. Ruto is a thief and we know it.

We are currently paying high electricity prices because of Ruto. During his first term, he planted Kalenjin thieves in the energy sector, beginning with Chirchir and then Keter, who have cause nothing but misery and untold suffering on young Kenyans.
The “last mile” KPLC project consumed resources to electrify peasant households, yet the same energy could have been diverted to industries. Industries create jobs and wealth. Peasants and slum dwellers don’t.
The social carnage inflicted by KPLC’s arbitrary power hikes is astronomic. Job losses for young Kenyans, turning once enterprising folks into beggars. Salons, Kinyozi’s, DVD joints, Cyber Cafe’s, photocopy, car-wash, etc. over 5 million informal jobs lost because of Ruto.
Don’t forget that Ruto also panders to religious hypocrites. He endorsed Uhuru’s misguided war against “illicit” alcohol, a lie crafted by Githeri media. Essentially they only wanted to forcefully acquire Keroche & Humphrey Kariuki’s business empires.
Those “illicit” alcohol manufacturers had employed thousands of Kenyans and created tertiary opportunities. Infact they had started exporting to regional countries. But Uhuru’s family can’t stand seeing wealthier Kenyans than them.
Kenya’s economic malaise cannot be detached from Ruto as he promotes himself as “opposition” yet he still rides in police escort. He has successfully hoodwinked the masses that he had no role in the economic downturn.
Raila in his endemic stupidity, has appointed himself government spokesman, undertaking in an unpopular BBI campaign, and acting shocked when his candidate loses in a by-election. Dude, wake up!
Raila is now taking the blame for 8 years of plunder and indiscriminate looting orchestrated by Uhuru and Ruto, yet his office has only been allocated some 80m by the Government. And now he wants to create a post for Uhuru in 2022. Crazy man!
Bottom line is resisting BBI is not endorsing Ruto. He’s a thieving & conniving war-monger who will definitely embark on a similar undertaking once he assumes presidency. He’s only gripe is that it’s not him who is at the steering wheel in this process.

“We don’t negotiate salaries” is a negotiation tactic.

Always. No, your company is not an exception.

A tactic I don’t appreciate at all because of how unfairly it penalizes low-leverage, junior employees, and those loyal enough not to question it, but that’s negotiation for you after all. Weaponized information asymmetry.

And by the way, you should never be worried that an offer would be withdrawn if you politely negotiate.

I have seen this happen *extremely* rarely, mostly to women, and anyway is a giant red flag. It suggests you probably didn’t want to work there.

You wish there was no negotiating so it would all be more fair? I feel you, but it’s not happening.

Instead, negotiate hard, use your privilege, and then go and share numbers with your underrepresented and underpaid colleagues. […]
