Not sure how many of you know, but today is #ThiruvalluvarDay. A day dedicated to Thiruvalluvar (Valluvar) – a Tamizh poet & philosopher.

 There’s not much information available about Thiruvalluvar, in fact, it is not known whether his name was indeed ‘Thiruvalluvar’. It is believed that he used to live in Mylapore (in Chennai).

So, why is Thiruvalluvar such a celebrated author? Someone about whom no verifiable information is available, apart from work exalting him. It is because of his work - ‘Tirukkuṟaḷ’ (a collection of couplets on ethics, political and economical matters, and love) is +

+ well known and probably the only non-religious book that has maximum translations (41), though I was able to find list of only 35 languages.

The earliest reference to Thiruvalluvar is found in works called ‘Thiruvalluva Maalai’ (Garland of Thiruvalluvar).

This is of utmost significance because this anthology contains fifty-five verses, each written by different poets praising the ancient work of ‘Kural’ and its author ‘Valluvar’. This work is believed to be of poets spanning centuries beginning from around 1st century CE, +
+ till the collection believed to reach its current form by 11th century CE.

As mentioned earlier, there’s no authentic account that gives us his name as ‘Thiruvalluvar’. And same is the case with his book ‘Thirukkural’, whose original name is lost in annals of time.
That is why 19th century French translator E. S. Ariel calls Thirukkural as "The book without a name by an author without a name." Though, as per legends associated with ‘Thiruvalluva Maalai’, Thiruvalluvar referred to his work as ‘Muppaal’ while presenting it in Madurai.
Thirukkural is an amazing compilation divided into 133 chapters with 10 couplets a chapter, brining the overall number of ‘Kurals’ to 1330. All these 133 chapters are grouped in to three books as below:

Book I – Aṟam (அறம்): Book of Virtue (Dharma), dealing with moral values of an individual and essentials of yoga philosophy (Chapters 1-38)
Book II – Poruḷ (பொருள்): Book of Polity (Artha), dealing with socio-economic values, polity, society and administration (Chapters 39-108)
Book III – Inbam (இன்பம்): Book of Love (Kama), dealing with psychological values and love (Chapters 109-133)

Such is impact of this author and his literary work that almost all religious groups started making claim that he belonged to their belief.

So, with great personal pleasure, I’ll try and bring you one Kural (couplet) a day.
And the saying goes, there’s no better time then now to start something. So, let’s look at the first couplet.

1.1.1 (Book 1. Chapter 1. Kural 1):

அகர முதல எழுத்தெல்லாம் ஆதி
பகவன் முதற்றே உலகு
Transliteration(Tamil to English):
agara Mudhala ezhuththellaam aadhi
Pakavan Mudhatre ulaku

Explanation: As ‘A’ or ‘அ’ is the beginning of letters, so is the eternal God the beginning of life/world.

Here’s another explanation (this is my understanding): According to some sources, it is believed that Thiruvalluvar was born to a woman from Shudra Varna named ‘Adi’ and a man of Brahmin Varna named ‘Bhagwan’. Thus, I believe this Kural or couplet is in way +
+ talking about Thiruvalluvar’s world which begin from ‘Adi Bhagwan’, his parents.

A Monk of the Ramakrishna Mission was being interviewed by a journalist from NY. The journalist started
interviewing the Monk as planned earlier.

The Monk smiled and apparently deviating from the question asked the journalist:

"Are you from New York?"

Monk: "Who are there at home?"

The Journalist felt that the Monk was trying to avoid answering his question since this was a very personal and unwarranted question. Yet the  journalist said: "Mother had expired. Father is there. Three brothers and one sister. All married..."

The Monk, with a smile on his face, asked again: "Do you talk to your father?"

The  journalist looked visibly annoyed...

The Monk: "When did you talk to him last?"

The journalist, supressing his annoyance said: "May be a month ago."

Pandava Thoothar Perumal (Kanchipuram)

This temple is 49th among the 108 Divya Desams. The temple is approximately 2000 years old, and as per the inscription on Temple walls, Chola King Kulottunga Chola I carried out significant amount of work in rebuilding the temple between +


+ 11th & 12th century CE.

This place was called as Thirupadagam earlier. This is probably only temple in world where Bhagwan Sri Krishna is in the sitting pose at the height of 25 feet.

Boothath Azhwar, Peyazhwar, Thirumazhisai Azhwar and Thiru  mangai Azhwar were the Azhwars (Vaishnav Saints) who sung about this temple.

thus Bhagwan here is called 'Pandava Thoothar Perumal). King Janemajaya (great grandson of Arjuna) heard story from Sage Vaisampayana about how Sri Krishna showed his Vishwaroopam, when Kaurava tried to humiliate & kill him during His visit as a negotiator (Thoothar).


Sage Vaisampayana advised King Janamejaya (when later wanted to see Bhagwan's Vishwaroopam) to visit Kanchipuram and do penance towards Krishna. It is believed that Sri Krishna appeared before King Janamejaya in 'Pandava Thoothar' form.

*The 10th Apple effect*

A hunter once lost his way deep inside the jungle while chasing a deer. He used all his navigation skills but neither did he find any way out of the jungle nor could he find any food to eat for 8 days at a stretch.

Here is the detailed information of about strategy,

Entry time : 9.30 - 10
Exit : Upto you

Strategy :
Sell weekly ATM CE & PE at almost equal price
For ex : Sell Nifty 17250 CE at 50 and Nifty 17250 PE at 48 so it will become short straddle

Buy monthly ATM or near ATM CE & PE at matching price (5-10 points diff should be fine) as hedge
For ex : Buy Nifty 17250 CE at 150 and Nifty 17300 PE at 155 so it will become long straddle.

Weekly Short straddle + Monthly Long straddle

Adjustment:

• If you feel slightly bullish/bearish then no adjustment needed
• If Nifty moves 50 up or down and sustain then just simply roll up or down half of qnty and keep rest of the quantity. If market goes up or down further then roll up or down rest.

• If Nifty moves one side or about to breach BEP then add equal amount of lot. This can balance tested side. For ex: If I bought 17300 CE 4 lot as hedge then add 4 lot so you will have only one side risk . Note: Remember to keep SL at cost price (only for additional lot bought)

Capital requirement:
2.2 L for 4 lot
Adjustment requires additional capital upto 1L

Note : High risk high reward strategy, please don’t execute until you fully understand. Kindly do paper trading or backtest.

Again sharing bank nifty intraday weekly straddle. How to play by selling straddle.
Mostly will work on Monday to Wednesday. Sometimes on Friday.
Why to pay your money to learn this if u can get it here.
U need only practice.
Let’s go.

Say bank nifty future is at 32000.
Sell both 32000 call and put.
Considering current volatile market lest say premium on Monday morning is 350 on both sides.
Sold with 700 points combine premium.
If bank nifty will trade in narrow range say +\- 100 hold it.
If moving 200 points

then exit previous sold straddle. Sell new one. Let’s say BN moved +200
Now sell 32200. If bank nifty will move here within range then u will get profit through theta decay. Follow same procedure for next 150-200 pts move.

This is only for single straddle sell position.

Now in second case sell three straddle. 31900/32000/32100
In case of 100 points move no need to change.
If 200 + then future is 32200.
Exit 31900 and sell 31200 straddle.
If moving another 100 then exit 32000 and sell 32300. Continue same with 100 points move.
If no move then

it will consolidate between 32000-32200 or 32100 to 32300 and u will get theta decay.

This is for normal move. Sudden big move may come anytime. So keep SL in system.
If u r selling at 350-350 then keep SL in system 475 for both legs.

Mahabharat - the great war - 18 days of heroism, deceit, blood and intrigue - now as a mega Twitter thread.

I'll add the events from a few days of the war each day.

Caveats: lots of editorialization, creative liberties and interpretations.

There will also be a lot of asides - especially around war strategy and tactics, the characters and their motivations and non-canon storylines.

Over the years, I've read multiple versions, phenomenal translations and modern retellings. So be prepared for a potpourri.

There are different ways of looking at this war. Was it a family feud? Sure - but whose family? Shantanu's or Satyavati's? Was Vyas essentially telling us his family history? And then Kunti added a twist to this tale. Here's a helpful chart:


Satyavati's two sons from Shantanu both died without children. Vyas - her first son - fathered Dhritarashtra and Pandu (and Vidur).

Pandu never fathered any children. Kunti and Madari gave birth to six demi-gods (Karna and the five Pandavs).

So Satyavati Vs Kunti and Madari.

Or was this a fight between two massive neighbouring kingdoms - the Kurus and the Panchals? While many smaller kingdoms joined the battle, most of the Pandav army (more than half of their 7 divisions) came from the Panchals. King Drupad and his son Shikhandi led two divisions.

Now there are versions of it.
1. Best version :
Enter around 9.15-20 and exit around 3.20. No adjustment nothing.

If u r doing it on zero leverage(meaning u have full capital of around bnf's notional contract,i.e. 40000*25 = 10lacs), then u r most likely going to make better than fd or anything like that.
Simple rules : friday,monday, tuesday do for weekly. Wednesday and thrusday next week

So, gamma moves can't impact much.
Another better version of mahesh chander kaushik is to do it for monthly expiry.
Bigger premiums and never hav to worry about 200-300 points sudden moves.
2. 2nd version : have combined stoploss of premiums and re-entry criteria. Example :

Let say 40000 straddle is at 600. Sell at 600 and hav combined sl at 650. Many algos are providing this. U can even place stoploss in % terms. Like, if sold straddle at 400 and placed 10% sl, means if 440 combined premium touch, it will be stoploss.
Let say, in morning,

U sold straddle at 600 and it sl hit at 650. Now, u placed reentry at 600 with same sl. This time may be linear decay happens and u may cover morning's loss and make some profit.
3rd version : stoplosses at each leg and trail sl to cost type.
Example , 40000 straddle at 400.

Unfortunately, her memory has been blemished by inaccurate representations in modern popular media.

The serial "Punyashlok Ahilyabai" depicts her as ultra secularist feminazi icon who questions Hindu rituals & Pandits while patronising Sufis.

This is far from historical truth!


Ahilyabai was born on May 31 1725 to Patil Mankoji Shinde.

She was from Dhangar clan(classified as OBC today). While Dhangars were traditionally into herding, they took up arms & held several military /civil roles in various eras of history(especially during Maratha resurgence)


In 1737, when she was 12, Ahilyabai Holkar was married to Khanderao , son of Subedar Malhar Rao Holkar.

By the time she was married, fortunes of Holkar family had already waxed.

Malhar Rao was a Subedar of territory comprising 30 Parganas yielding a revenue of at least 7 Lakh


In 1741, when Ahilyabai was newly married, her father -in-law Malhar Rao Built Indore palace & ordered the kanungo to populate the settlement with a promise of protection to traders.

This began rise of Indore from its background as modest trading town Indrapuri to a great city

Divya Desha where Perumal appears with moustache of a Sarathi (charioteer) to conduct Arjun’s Rath in Kurukshetra war.
Here, Venkatkrishna-Parthasarthy is present with his entire family.


He is flanked by Sri Rukmini, Sri Balarama, Satyaki, son Pradyumn and grandson Anirudha.
It is said that on the request of Raja Sumathirajan, Sri Perumal appeared and stayed here as Arjun’s charioteer (Partha-sarathi).


He is without chakra as he had promised not to wield weapons in Mahabharata war.
The face has scars caused by Bhishma’s arrows on Arjun. Prabhu took the arrows on himself to protect Arjun.


The Naivedyam offered here does not have spices. Ghee is used in it to cure Prabhu’s wounds. Sarkarai Pongal is famous here.

It is said that Rishi Bhrigu found Devi Lakshmi (as Vedvalli) in Alli flower in the mandir pushkarini. Later, Sri Ranganatha came here to marry her.
