Story says that, once there lived a weaver named Kuttan who was a Devi Bhaktan. During one festival time Kuttan was so pleased by the Devi Vigraham that he requested her to come along with him. At that time wind blew heavily and Cloths

in Vigraham flew. Kuttan immediately decorated Devi with his cloth which stuck to Vigraham and returned to his village and with his Umbrella. Devi came with him in that Umbrella and stayed in his place. This place is Mangottu Bhagavathi temple now.

Narayaneeyam Day : Tomorrow

Narayaneeyam Day is celebrated on 28th day of Malayalam month Vrishchikam. Narayaneeyam is the condensed form of Srimad Bhagavatam, written by Narayana Bhattatiri without leaving any essence of Bhagavatam & was submitted to Guruvayurappan on this day

Bhattatiri was a great devotee & scholar who lived in Guruvayur in Kerala. Narayana Bhattathiri had a Guru, Achyuta pisharadi, who had a severe attack of Rheumatism. Bhattathiri & with his prayers transferred guru's illness to him. Once, when Bhattathiri was unable to move, he

was carried to Guruvayur temple,
where he met Ezhuthachan, eminent  Malayalam  poet of the time. Ezhuthachan advised Bhattathiri to "begin the treatment with fish" Bhattathiri understood that he would be cured if he compose avatar of Vishnu starting with the fish, known as Matsya

Srimad Bhaghavatam which consists of 18000 sloka was condensed to 1034 slokas. He was 27 year old when Bhattadiri wrote Narayaneeyam. Thus on 100th day he was completely cured of illness. Particular Sloka of Narayaneeyam (Dasakam 8, Sloka 13) is a very powerful & also advised by

Sri Kanchi Maha Periyava for curing any illness. If one cannot recite Narayaneeyam completely are adviced to chant this sloka 21 times daily.

Kurudumale Ganesha Temple is located at Kurudumale, Kolar district. Vigraham of about 13 ft is made of Salagrama sila & prathista is said to be done by Tri Murthy's Brahma, Vishnu & Mahadev. The Tri Murthy's along with Devas when came together are called Koodu male or Kootadri

which later came to be known as Kurudumale. It is believed that Vigraham has been in earth since 4 yugas, Kritha, Tretha, Dwapara and Kali yuga. Mahadev worshipped the Vigraham and during the search of Ma Sita, Sri Rama has worshipped here.
Vigraham was seen by villagers and

informed to King Krishnadevaraya. Later temple was built here. Very powerful Ganesha who always bestows every wishes of the devotees. People worship here before new job or new phase of their life. Ganesh Chaturthi is very famous here.

These are the two guards guarding the Wealth and Treasure of Lord Sri Venkateswara.

They are representatives of two treasures of Kubera, the God of Wealth.

One guard who is holding shangam (conch) on both the hands is known as Shanka Nidhi ('nidhi' means wealth).

On the other side, the guard who is holding Lotus flowers on both the hands is known as Padma nidhi.

Shangu is from the ocean which includes all types of wealth like pearls and corals.

Why shagam in his hand? Because shangam only gives the sound of 'omkaram'.

'Padmam' is the symbol of water sources in land like river, lakes, tanks etc. which is very important for all living beings.

As per the tradition, these guards are installed at the third entrance of the temple.

One enters the holy shrine after saluting the first protection threshold - Sankha Nidhi and Padma Nidhi.
