A thread on Position Sizing #Trading is the only profession where you can see Doctors, Engineers, and many other successful professionals try their luck with stock market, these people excel in their own respective field but struggle a lot when it comes to trading.1/n

 Unfortunately, everybody believes that a successful trader always has a secret Technical Skill. But the truth is Technical skill is the least important factor to be a superstar trader.

Then what separates a great trader from the group of average traders? Its their emotion.
This is how most traders think: They first think about the Entry point, at which price should I buy? At which level should I enter? At which point should I get into a trade?
But this is how you must think to be a profitable trader. You have to adapt to trading strategy that suits your psychology, assign trade management rules, keep position sizing and money management rules.
One of the main reason people lose money in stock market is because of their position size. Example: Vicky starts trading with a capital of Rs. 1,00,000 and he finds a trading opportunity and buys Spice Jet share for Rs. 100. At the max, he can buy 1000 shares of Spice Jet stock.
Now if the stock gains 110 in few days, he will gain 10*1000=10,000. That is 10% of his capital. He sells all his 1000 shares, making 10% returns in short span, makes him more happy and wants to try his luck again
If he purchase again 1000 shares at 100, what if the stock goes down to 90 from 100? He will lose 10% of his capital in short span of time, but he may hold the stock and if continues to slide 90, 85, 80. He panics and sell all his shares at 80, losing 20% of his capital.
What made Vicky panic? SpiceJet stock falling from 100 to 80?

No. The 1000 shares that he bought made him panic.
Imagine, if he had 100 shares. Stock falling from 100 to 80, results in 2000 loss. Which is just 2% of his capital. In this situation, Vicky might be in a better position to make wise decisions.
So next time follow the below rules to know how many shares you need to buy,

A. Capital: Rs. 10,000

B. Entry Price of your stock: Rs.100

C. Stop loss: Rs.90

D. Risk: Rs.10

E. We should risk only 2% of capital: 2% of 10,000=Rs.200

F. No of shares: Rs.200/Risk (formula= E/D)
So when you buy 20 shares, if the trade goes against us and hits stop loss, we will lose 20*10=Rs. 200 only which is just 2% of the capital.
Many traders will have a trading psychology issue when they scale up their trading size. I have read a wonderful story which very much relates to trading. Listen up.
Meet Milo of Croton — The Great Ancient Greek Olympian. He was the greatest and strongest wrestler of Greece. He won six consecutive olympic medals! Remember what Usain Bolt said? Win three and become immortal? Imagine six !
How did he become so strong? He started his training by lifting a newborn calf. Hah! So easy peasy. I can lift a calf. You too can lift a calf. What’s the point in lifting a tiny calf? Huh.
Whereas his competitors attempted to lift an adult bull instead. Yo. And they all laughed off the calf lifting. Who does that! Stupid Milo. Huh.
Milo carried the calf daily, all the time. The calf grew slowly and so did Milo’s strength. And ultimately Milo could lift a bull effortlessly. But his smart ass competitors were still trying to lift the bull. Sometimes succeeding, maybe, but not excelling like Milo. Smart Milo.
Learn from Milo. Buy a calf. Lift it daily. Rather than lifting a bull.
If someone is trading with 50 lot sizes & over a period if he makes more profit, decides to increase his size from 50 to 100 , then he will definitely have a tough time. Remember nothing has been changed here,all his trading rules are the same but still he would struggle to trade
It is because he is more used to 50 lot size, when he is trading with 50 lots , he is used to the negative MTM, daily losses, max losses etc. As he traded with that fixed size for a longer period, he is used to these daily fluctuations in his account.
Now after seeing good profits, if he decided to double the size he would not be able to handle it efficiently. So after some losses he would again go back to the same old position size of 50 lots and he would keep trying to increase it to 100 but he would fail every time.
Instead He has to gradually increase his position size, instead of doubling the size at one go. That’s why it is advised to trade based on risk % on capital rather than a fixed size, which will help us in reducing the drawdowns.

Most beginners when building a trading strategy simply use current info and test with it, they don't know How to Get Historical Stock Futures lot size, list of stocks that are part of index like Nifty 50, Nifty 500 historically, I will share all such info in this thread

Please note that there is no way to get the historical lot size of stocks futures, NSE don't publish it directly, so we need to do some calculated steps to get that data. Download Market Activity report https://t.co/HKLkSVtXEI


The zip file contains multiple files, open the second file.


The file will contain stock symbol, expiry date, OHLC data, along with that you get traded quantity and No of contracts traded, using this data we can calculate the lot size of every stock symbol. Simply divide Traded QTY / NO of contracts gives you the lot size.


So to get the historical stock futures data, all you need to do is change the date in the below link

Here's a detailed analysis of 920 Straddle with 25% SL using @stockmock_in platform. This analysis would show which days are max profitable, how it behaves on gap days and how it behaves on different VIX days. 🧵

Here's day wise total profits, Wednesday are the days it has generated highest profits compared to all other days and Friday being the least profitable day.

हिन्दु धर्म के 18 पुराणों में से एक गरुड़ पुराण का हिन्दु धर्म में बड़ा महत्व है। गरुड़ पुराण में मृत्यु के बाद सद्गती की व्याख्या मिलती है। इस पुराण के अधिष्ठातृ देव भगवान विष्णु हैं, इसलिए ये वैष्णव पुराण है।


गरुड़ पुराण के अनुसार हमारे कर्मों का फल हमें हमारे जीवन-काल में तो मिलता ही है परंतु मृत्यु के बाद भी अच्छे बुरे कार्यों का उनके अनुसार फल मिलता है। इस कारण इस पुराण में निहित ज्ञान को प्राप्त करने के लिए घर के किसी सदस्य की मृत्यु के बाद का समय निर्धारित किया गया है...

..ताकि उस समय हम जीवन-मरण से जुड़े सभी सत्य जान सकें और मृत्यु के कारण बिछडने वाले सदस्य का दुख कम हो सके।
गरुड़ पुराण में विष्णु की भक्ति व अवतारों का विस्तार से उसी प्रकार वर्णन मिलता है जिस प्रकार भगवत पुराण में।आरम्भ में मनु से सृष्टि की उत्पत्ति,ध्रुव चरित्र की कथा मिलती है।


तदुपरांत सुर्य व चंद्र ग्रहों के मंत्र, शिव-पार्वती मंत्र,इन्द्र सम्बंधित मंत्र,सरस्वती मंत्र और नौ शक्तियों के बारे में विस्तार से बताया गया है।
इस पुराण में उन्नीस हज़ार श्लोक बताए जाते हैं और इसे दो भागों में कहा जाता है।
प्रथम भाग में विष्णुभक्ति और पूजा विधियों का उल्लेख है।

मृत्यु के उपरांत गरुड़ पुराण के श्रवण का प्रावधान है ।
पुराण के द्वितीय भाग में 'प्रेतकल्प' का विस्तार से वर्णन और नरकों में जीव के पड़ने का वृत्तांत मिलता है। मरने के बाद मनुष्य की क्या गति होती है, उसका किस प्रकार की योनियों में जन्म होता है, प्रेत योनि से मुक्ति के उपाय...

Born in Chhatimgram village, Bogra District,Her father's name was Atmaram Choudhury.Bhabani was married off to Raja Ramkanta Moitra,the then zamindar of Rajshahi.After his death, Bhabani became the zamindar, and started being referred to as Rani.She was known as Ardhabangeshwari.

A woman as a zamindar was extremely rare in those days, but Rani Bhabani managed the vast Rajshahi zamindari most efficiently and effectively for over four decades.
Maharani Bhavani was very pious in her personal life. She passed her life in a strict disciplined way.


She conducted the administrative work skillfully. As a Maharani she was an impartial judge. Rani Bhavani had a very hard time during the fag end of her life. The Zamindari (estate) incurred serious loss due to the change of the revenue policy of the company.

In spite of being the owner of a large Zamindari (estate), she had to depend on the stipend of the government in the later part of her life. The amount of this stipend gradually decreased and became Rs. 1000/- only in the end.

A long time ago, I was a talent agent. I worked for a woman named Susan Smith, who had her own small boutique agency. She was known for three things:

1. She had fantastic taste in clients. If there is someone you admire, odds are good that at some point, she was their agent,

2. She could negotiate a deal like few who have ever trod the earth. Casting would give her all the money they had budgeted for that part, plus a little more, plus promising to get her dog Barnaby groomed. She was magnificent to watch.

3. She was insane.

I'm sure you're thinking, "Quinn, it's the entertainment industry, they are all insane." Yes, many are. So consider this; if you told someone you worked for Susan, people who worked for insane people would look and you and whisper, "I hear she's insane."

He's STILL in charge of the Mueller investigation.

He's STILL refusing to hand over the McCabe memos.

The guy had a face-to-face with El Grande Trumpo himself on Air Force One just 2 days ago. Inside just about the most secure SCIF in the world.

At this point it's clear some members of Congress are either in on this and helping the cover story or they haven't got a clue and are out in the cold.

Have you ever wondered why the sons and daughters of the colonial chiefs and guards who were collaborators live a good life while those of the MAU MAU fighters live in abject poverty?

It should be known that the colonialists reached a point that they knew they had 2 leave Kenya since they couldn't handle the Mau Mau war & the world was moving toward accepting independent Africa.However,the colonialists devised an evil scheme that still eats Kenya upto this day

Under this scheme, the colonial state came up with a plan that saw the first crop of chiefly “big men” being empowered financially to take their children to schools and eventually have those children go to England for further studies...

...and eventually providing a ready-made socio-economic & political class whom state power could be entrusted in the post-colonial era.This explains why their children & grandchildren still hold majority of important positions in govt or in the private sector supported by state.

This also explains why children and grandchildren of these homeguards are always given preferential treatment when it comes to government appointments. Wewe na masomo yako you are always asking why you can never get a job in government...yet you're qualified..now you know.
