Essence/existence distinction in Maximus?

Here is the Greek

“Existence” in the Greek is “to einai”. Literally “the thing being”. Same as what St. Thomas uses in the Latin (esse).

He even discusses how form cannot create existence and existence must be added to form to make form actual.

This is hundreds of years before St. Thomas.
