Ancient Tamil Sangam age site Arikamedu was under Velir clans. A Brahmi inscription associated with Black & Red ware (BRW) culture mentions a Velir ruler named Yadu Balabhuti in Sanskrit. This indicates Tamil kings also had Sanskritic names along with Tamil during Sangam age.

The Velir clans traced origins to Yadavas who migrated from Dvaraka along with Rishi Agastya and settled down in south. Sangam age text Purananuru 201 mentions Velirs from Thuvarai (Dwarka?) associated with 'northern sage', possibly Agastya.

The Ay rulers who ruled southern Kerala also traced origins to the Velir clan as stated in Purananuru 135 where an Ay king is said to be descendant of Velirs.

The Ay rulers continued to associate with Yadus even after mixing with Cheras who migrated from Mahodayapuram ( now Kodungallur) long after Sangam age. Samgramadhira Ravi Varma Kulashekhara, the ruler of hybrid Chera-Ay kingdom held the title 'Yadu-shishu' in 13th century

After reign of Ravi Varma, the old Tamil patrilineal succession system was changed to matrilineal system of Nairs (marumakkathayam) with adoption of princesses from north Malabar's Kolathiri line.

The word Purūsharthå is mentioned in Suryopanishad which is a minor Upanishad allied to the Atharva Veda.

Here Purush in Purūsharthå doesn't refers to a man, but to an individual soul in its purest aspect, that is similar for both men and women.

Dharma , Artha,Kama,Moksha known to be four goals of an individual's life and codified as Purūsharthå, It is also mentioned in the sacred book of Dharma called Dharmashashtra.

These are important concepts to know if we really want to understand Hinduism.

Dharma: Dharma is universal. It simply means religion of righteousness, wholesomeness,& truth. It is very difficult to grasp the exact meaning of dharma as acting vigorously doesn't mean precisely the same for everyone and also operates within concrete circumstance.

Anything which is acquired in the absence of Dharma will occur towards the misery. Each personhas their own Dharma called 'Sva-Dharma’, which is deeply illustrated in Bhagvad Geeta .

As per mānusmriti ...

धृतिः क्षमा दमोऽस्तेयं शौचमिन्द्रियनिग्रहः ।
धीर्विद्या सत्यमक्रोधो दशकं धर्मलक्षणम् ॥ ६\९२ ॥

Thread on decoding KAMASUTRA

Kamasutra is a book written by Rishi Vātsyāyana in about 3rd century. It is famous for its erotic mentions and is considered as a controversial book.

1. Origin:

After creating the universe lord Brahma created a text, TRIVERG,

which had 3 subjects- Dharma, Artha & Kama, for the well being of humans.

Rishi Manu used the subject dharma and created ‘Dharmshastra’, Viraspati used the subject artha and created ‘Arthshastra’ and shiva’s nandi used the subject kama and created, ‘Kamashastra’ which had a

more than 1000 chapters.

Later, all the 3 shastras were simplified by various Rishi. Out of those Rishis, Vātsyāyana simplified the Kāmashastra and created kamasutra.

2. Is it a sex manual or pornography?

Well, Kamashastra has 7 chapters, in which only 20% of total text talks

about sex, which I’ll explain later but, first lets come to the rest 80%-

A) first chapter, which is ‘Sadharanam’, focuses about, ‘What should be the AIMS OF THE LIFE OF A PERSON. It says, a person should first understand what his/her dharma is. Dharma doesn’t mean religion, it

"To Lord Vivasvant was born a son Yama. To Lord Yama was born Mārtaṇḍa. The wise father Manu was born to Lord Mārtaṇḍa. The race [vaṃshaj] born from Manu is the Mānavas . It is this clan that became famous as the clan of mankind."

Then the Mbh says,

ब्रह्मक्षत्रादयस्तस्मान्मनोर्जातास्तु मानवाः

"Brāhmaṇas, Kṣatriyas, Vaiśyas, Shūdras - all these were descended from Manu. Therefore they are Mānavas."

In India, Manu was also the foremost divine lawgiver of mankind. In Greece, King Minos of Crete (Son of Zeus & Europa) was the divine lawgiver to mankind who received the law from Zeus.

Plato says this in

In Sundarakāṇḍa (38) a celestial crow (son of Indradeva) in Chitrakūṭa eats the flesh of the Goddess Sītā & torments her. This son of Indra is spared from certain death despite the rage of Bhagavān Rāma on him.

But the demon king Rāvaṇa is killed.

To summarize the event. This incident happens on the Chitrakūṭa mountain. The crow is a celestial son of Indradeva. He does not leave Sītā alone despite her numerous attempts to ward him away. He eats the flesh of her bossom, pierces them with his sharp claws...+

Lord Rāma (whose lap Sītā was sleeping on) wakes up and sees the the torn bossom of Sītā. Upon finding the crow was guilty, he releases a brahmāstra on him. The crow tries to seek shelter but all the devas turn him away. He comes back to Rāma & falls on his feet..+

..he is spared by the lord but he has to loose one eye because a brahmāstra once casted cannot be taken back. (मोघम् कर्तुम् न शक्यम् तु ब्राह्मम् अस्त्रम्).

Now, why was this? Let us see the exegesis of Achārya Parāśara Bhaṭṭa of this incident.

Both the celestial crow & rāvaṇa transgressed against the Goddess. But the crow's transgression was unique because it was in the presence of the divine couple of Rāma-Sītā together. Due to the mere sannidhi (proximity) of the divine mother - Bhagavān bestowed his grace.
