Basic rule for day trading in option buying for beginners.
1) Stick to monthly atm options.
2) Suppose u have a capital of Rs 5 lacs. Your max risk appetite is 1% which is 5k. Assume u look at BNF chart and find a buy setup at 35000 ...

with a stop of 34900 ( 100 point difference). This essentially means that the 35000 atm options will have a stop of Rs 200 ( delta 0.5) assuming all other things are equal. So the number of lots U should typically deal with based on 1% Risk on 5 lacs capital ...

is 5000 / 200, which is 25 , ie 1 lot. If your risk appetite is 2%, then u are allowed to take 50, ie 2 lots. Hence if option price is say, Rs 400, ur stop will be 200 and u have to deal with one lot which means your deployment is 25 x 400 = Rs 10,000....

On the contrary if you deploy the full amount, 500000/(25x400) = 1250 , 50 lots, u r bound to lose the capital at the shortest possible time.
3) This might appear ridiculous, but this is the only way to go steady with control over risk.

Option stop difference is Rs 50 and not Rs 200 as mentioned. Simple calculation overlooked. Accordingly number of lots will increase . However concept remains unchanged.

#FreeTip If price falls below 30 week MA but 30 week moving average keeps rising, the first price move above 30 week MA is a high probability entry point for a good upmove; in majority cases it has given exceptional moves. Post your charts based on the above logic.

This is one example.... Save this pattern!!! There are other minor criteria to be followed as well. I have explained the main one....

#FreeTip Most of the stocks after coming out of a base moves 20%-25% after which it starts consolidating to form another base. So ideally book profits at 20%-25%.Only exception is when a stock goes up 20% within 3 wks of breakout,in which case hold for min 8 wks. O Neil Rule.

Ever wondered y gamma is the enemy of straddle / strangle sellers and what it means?

Presume readers are aware of option Greeks meaning...

To understand , first ...

Relationship between delta, gamma, theta and option premium.

Theta + (int Rate x Underlying price x Delta) + ( 0.5 x variance of underlying x Underlying price x Underlying Price x Gamma ) = Int rate x Option premium.

Strangle and straddles are delta neutral setup;For a delta neutral setup, the second term becomes zero; Hence,

(0.5 x variance of UL x UL price x Underlying price x Gamma)
= Int rate x option premium

Straddle and strangles have typically zero delta at initiation; they also have positive theta, meaning they gain over time assuming other components of option r constant ..

In a delta neutral portfolio, if theta is largely +ve , Gamma will be -ve by a large extent to satisfy the above relation mathematically, which means that as expiry nears the strangles and straddles will have large -ve gamma; This is wat u see traders telling gamma effect.

Rules for Long
1) Break of Cam R4 / PDH whichever is higher.
2) Stop Cam R3.
3) If capital = 1 lac, then RA = 1% of 1lac = 1000, Posn Size = 1000 / (r4-r3)
4) Exit 50% - 75% at 1:2 Reward. Move stop to cost for remaining.

5) Entry style finer tips - Breakout of R4; Plot a 20 period MA. If candle size is big on breakout of R4, wait for retest to either R4 or 20 period MA and enter at a bullish pa closer to any of these.
6) Exit style finer tips - Exit 50% at 1:2 (Very imp)....

Balance 50%, either trail at cost or trail along with 20 period MA. Keep trailing SL in system. Not in mind.
7) Maximum loss per day should not exceed 3%, which means that by chance if you have tried 3 stocks and all 3 failed, stop trading for the day. Dont try to recover..

8) Include your profits for next day position sizing thereby giving room for compounding gradually.
9) If broader market is in general up, it is better to enter r4 breakouts; if broader market is in general down, it is better to enter s4 breakouts....

10) If not sure about broader markets, enter one r4 breakout and one s4 breakout simultaneously if your account size permits.

#FreeTip The Art of doing nothing in trading is most effective in case of monthly rectangular breakouts . Longer the rectangular breakouts most effective the breakouts are and the usual targets are 50% of breakout level x (1 + range %) and the time period is usually < 1 year .

#FreeTip If 1-2 days before earnings if you observe a otherwise nice uptrending that passes trend template criteria, down 3-5% with low volume (5-10 day low), it is most likely retail panic selling before results and chance of upmove increases .

Don’t just go by narrow cpr blindly to foresee a trending market. A wide range with open and close at the almost the same level will also have a narrow cpr. So a narrow cpr with a narrow prev day range is to be seen together.
If price hovers within cpr the whole day,..

it is most likely an indication of a trending day emerging in the near future.
Alternatively another way of foreseeing a possible trend day is to look for narrow Cam R3s3. Infact this does not require additional PDR confirmation .
All r probabilities; not certainties.

Trend,Direction,Momentum(TDM).
D and M can be assessed only after mkt opens. Trend can be assessed the prev day through Cam lvl 3 width. Try trading BNF ONLY when Cam width is narrower (Red) which can be assessed the prev day. U can see improved results.

A possible H & S pattern in weekly chart.
Dropped below 30 week MA as well which is not a good sign. (Week is not yet over).
1350-1375 is the key zone which is the possible neckline if this pattern matearalises. Need to review at that time for further view.

A simple illustration to analyse stocks in a very simple way:
1) Prepare a list of stocks with more than say, 400% returns last 1 year and currently above 3 digits. U will have around 30-40 NSE listed stocks.
2) Look at each stock chart just before breakout

3) Take a note book and right down against each stock, the behaviour of MAs Vis a vis the stock, for eg., 30 week MA / daily 200 ma / 150 ma, 50 ma, etc.); the behaviour of Relative Strength (RS); behaviour in terms of volume; any pattern like rectangular breakout etc.

4) Might take 3 plus hours for the above exercise. Once you are done, see the common elements against all stocks. That is the edge you have knowing the behaviour of super performance stocks. U need not hold for 400%. U can atleast get 20% out of it.

5) A eg. is -- few of the stocks had 3 year rectangular breakouts with RS at new high / 52w high. This is just an example. Dont immediately look for only this criteria. I can help you out with a list of triple digit stocks in excess of 400% over last 1 year.

How to assess if a stock is too extended? Many find it difficult to assess the matured stage of a very strong uptrending stock.
1 easy way is avoid entering in the 5th base onwards during Stage 2 of the stock. For eg, Base count of #Intellect is in pic.

Monthly chart shows a clear channel pattern throughout the life of TataMotors stock. Indicates some more room ahead till the upper band of the chart for the time being in the coming months. Top of the channel is around 900-1150 zone.

Ideally should move up if broader market supports.
Good to go long above 378 with stop of 8% for a nice upmove.
