Finding Strike Prices to sell Options based on #Vix
Eg:
As on 15/06/21,
#Nifty 15869
#Vix 14.61
Days to expiry = 2
Exp Range = 15869 X (1-(14.61% / sqrt(365/2))) to 15869 X (1+(14.61% / sqrt(365/2)))
ie, 15697 to 16040;
Hence pe strike 15700, ce strike 16050;

To succeed in scalping, it should necessarily be a rule based approach.
A simple scalping strategy in indices:
1) Timeframe - 2 min (STF)
2) RSI 5
3) RSI 5 in 10 min chart (2x of STF)
Strategy:
Long condition:
1) 3 should be above 50
2) Entry when 2 dips ..

...
below 30 and crosses above 30.
3) Keep 0.5% risk
4) Exit at 1: 2 plus RR.
Short condition:
1) 3 should be below 50
2) Entry when 2 moves above 70 and dips below 70.
3) Keep 0.5% risk
4) Exit at 1:2 plus RR.

A day trading setup CLUE for trading index / stocks for a living..Capturing a big move in adv.
If cpr is bearish,n price opens abv cpr with a 5-15 min bullish pa or price crosses abv cpr within first 30 min, it usually signals a big move ahead.
Vice versa for bull cpr.

Bullish cpr is shaded blue; Bearish cpr is shaded red. If u think that higher value cpr are necessarily bullish and vice versa , then ur Wrong … I will leave this concept for discussion.

W Pattern in htf with second low undercutting the first low, which is a powerful setup.
Broken out of the pattern today at 1060-1075 zone.
Good to go long at cmp with a stop of 8-10%.

6 year rectangular breakout in monthly chart at 820
Longer the rectangular base, more prospects waiting for the price.
Any pullback is a good buy for a medium term perspective as long as it stays above 775.
Can look to buy around retest zone 820-830. 8% stop.

Understanding HIGH & LOW VIX

VIX at 16: If you check today's IV behaviour, they were not spiking much even with decent delta move in BNF. The movement was subtle, giving some time to adjust. So someone having good adjustment mechanism can stay in the game longer.

VIX at 20: The same delta move will be more fierce, coupled with rise in premiums. When premiums rise with movement, then the adjustment cost increases exponentially. The premiums can fall back at EOD, but the damage is done if caught in the spike.

After talking to few traders, their backtest result was in favor of high VIX of 2020, rather than 2017-19. The key flaw in the backtest were the adjustments which are not easy to calculate. Combination of high theta & fixed SL during high VIX, the IV crush is cashed at EOD.

Neutral option sellers who don't adjust & have fixed SL on a static straddle will not be able to benefit highly in low VIX. The straddle which moves away from ATM will increase no matter what. But if we keep on rolling our strikes, then we get good realisation of theta.

I have made majority of my profits in option selling when VIX was at 13-15, mostly just relying on my adjustments. Since 2020 with high VIX, adjustments stopped working because of increase in the frequency of delta + IV spike combos & so had to shift to directional trading.
