Certain Christians on the right are correct to recognize that the moral discourse surrounding our politics is largely a cynical point-scoring exercise, an attempt to secure the moral high ground through discrediting opponents, rather than a serious, honest, and humble endeavour.

As such, the discourse is generally more concerned with power than with truth. Extracting admissions of guilt from your political opponents enables you to demand that they act in a chastened and deferential subjection to you as moral arbiter. Almost everyone is playing this game.

Many evangelical Christians are excessively nice people, whose form of faith is itself profoundly oriented around their scrupulosity and overactive consciences. They are also very naïve, and don't understand that they are perfect marks for this game. They can easily be gaslit.

Tell them that they are complicit in the worst atrocities and it is highly likely that they will accept your claims. Accusations of racism are especially powerful here, as given our nations' histories, they can bear genuine measures of guilt.

Their instinctive response, as nice, conformist, conflict averse, and obliging people, when faced with accusations by a person of colour is deference, affirmation, and contrition. Critical assessment of the very often largely unfounded accusations being made is suspended.

In the past, societies often took extreme measures to keep people out of bad Nash Equilibria, such as cutting people's hands off for stealing, or stoning adulterers to death.

It is good that we don't brutalize people to fix collective games. Classical #Liberalism is good!

If our government was truly for #WTP, @VP & @SpeakerPelosi would not of held a certification over night when most voters are sleeping. They would of open mindedly listened to electors who objected to their state certifications instead of waving it off like they didn't exist

You have to ask yourself, if our government is so "transparent" why would they wait to finalize votes and electors when most the nation is sleeping? Why would they want to hide?

Why would the so called "duely" fraudantly elected @JoeBiden push for $2000 stimulus checks, yet Congress would reject it from @realDonaldTrump , who wanted #WTP, small businesses and unemployed, taken care of?

Why would our government be so against setting up an election commission to verify there was no fraud during the election? What are they so scared of finding out? That they actually manipulated an election to screw America?

(Thread) Before the whole #ForceTheVote spectacle disappears in the usual ways that these things do in the Eternal Sunshine of the Very Online Left, something it might be worth taking a beat to think about:

So much of the discourse about this has treated it as a debate between insidery incrementalism and something more outsidery and confrontational--I've seen a few people describe it as a challenge to "electoralism"--but that stops making sense if you think about it for 5 seconds.

I know that some sort of spark to grassroots action was allegedly on the other end of the parliamentary Rube Goldberg machine:

"play hardball" in bargaining about the leadership vote --> get a floor vote that would have been defeated in a landslide making voters take M4A less seriously than ever as a real world possibility --> supposedly somehow get ammunition for this for primary challenges

...but about the most generous thing you can say about that is that it's *extremely* speculative.
