प्रप्र॑ दा॒श्वान्प॒स्त्या॑भिरस्थितांत॒र्वाव॒त्क्षयं॑ दधे ॥

Translation:

देवयन्तम् - One aspiring devtas

जन्म् - Near people.

अन्तर्वावत् - Who.

क्षयम - For downtrodden.

दधे - To carry.

कः - Who.

अश्नवत् - To spread.

वृक्तबर्हिषम - The yajmans plucking kush grass.

दाश्वान् - One distributing Havi.

यस्तयाभिः - One with Ritwiks.

प्रप्र अस्धित - Wealthy.

Explanation: Who will aspire to attain the divinity of devtas, Brahanaspati dev. Who will come near the one putting down the kush mat, Brahanaspati dev. The Havi giving Yajaks get shelter in the homes for their children and cattle.

नः - Ours.

अर्वते - Horse.

चन्द्र-दर्शन का निषेध वर्णन।

उक्त व्रत-पूजन प्रतिवर्ष एक दिन किया जाता है। उसे पाँच वर्ष तक तो करे ही, अधिक करे तो अधिक फल होता है। इस व्रत के फलस्वरूप उपासक को गणेशजी के स्वानन्द लोक की प्राप्ति होती है। यह गणेश व्रत अत्यन्त प्रभावशाली है ।

किन्तु नारदजी ! इस चतुर्थी में रात्रि समय चन्द्रमा का दर्शन न करे। क्योंकि उस दिन चन्द्र-दर्शन से मिथ्या अभियोग लग जाता है तथा अन्य अनिष्टों की भी सम्भावना रहती है। यदि भूल से चन्द्रमा का दर्शन हो जाये तो उसके दोष निवारणार्थ भगवान् गणेश्वर का चिन्तन करे।

निम्न श्लोक का पाठ चन्द्र-दर्शन के दोष निवारण में बहुत महत्त्वपूर्ण है

सिंहप्रसेनमधीत् सिंहो जाम्बवता हतः ।

सुकुमारक मा रोदीस्तव ह्येष स्यमन्तकः ॥ हे नारदजी ! अब आश्विन मास की चतुर्थी के व्रत का फल कहता हूँ ।

उस दिन भगवान् कपिर्दीश विनायक का षोड़शोपचार से पूजन करे तो सर्वप्राप्ति कराता है। कार्तिक मास की चतुर्थी करका चतुर्थी या 'करवा चौथ' कहलाती है। यह व्रत प्रायः महिलाएँ करती हैं। उन्हें शुद्ध जल से स्नान कर नवीन वस्त्र धारण करने चाहिए।

तदुपरान्त प्रसन्नचित्त से गणपति का पूजन करे और चौदह थालियों में स्वादिष्ट पकवान ब्राह्मणों को दे हे मुने ! सामर्थ्य के अनुसार ही दान करना चाहिए। कम देने की शक्ति हो तो चौदह स्थानों पर कुछ दे कुछ विद्वान् दस स्थानों पर देने का विधान बताते हैं।

WHAT TYPE OF FLOWERS SHOULD BE USED AND NOT TO BE USED FOR DEV PUJA.

As per Agnidev, Shri Vishnu is fond of Dhoop, Deep and Naivedya. Then Agnidev describes as to offering of a particular flower yields what result.

In puja the preferred flower is of malti.

The flowers of Tamaal provide bhog and moksha. Malika flower destroys all your sins. Juhi flower takes you to Vishnu lok. Karvir flower takes you to Vaikunth. Mogra and lodhra also take you to Vaikunth lok. Japa pushp gives you punya. Pavanti, Kubjak and Tagar take you to Vishnu

lok. Kaner takes you to Vishnu lok. Kurunt or yellow kutsaraiya destroys your sins. Lotus, kuunt and Ketaki give you Paramgati. Baan pushp, Barbar pushp and Krishna tulsi leaves give you paramgati. Ashok, Tilak and Adusa flower provide you moksha.

Bilva and Shami leaves provide you param gati. Tamaal dal and Bhringraj flowers provide moksha.Krishna tulsi, Shukla tulsi, Kalhar Utpal and Padma give you moksha.

Shri Hari is more pleased with garland made of Neep, Arjun, Bakul, Palash, Muni, Gokarn, Nagkarn, Chameli,

Sandhya pushpi, Ketaki, Kushmand, Kus, Kaas etc.

It is always better to take flowers from your garden.Also never pick up fallen flowers for making offerings. Also never take crushed or stale flowers. Similarly flowers to be avoided are Shirish, Kutaj, Dhatur, kachnaar & Shalmali

SHIVRATRI VRAT & Importanacre of Belpatra:-

Actually there are twelve Shivratri's in one calendar year. As per shastras the Chaturdeshi tithi of every krishnpaksh is Shivratri. But the one falling in the month of Magh is the most auspicious.

The devotees usually fast the whole day and perform the ritualistic puja four times in the night.

As per Shivpuran once Brahma, Vishnu and Parvati asked Shiva about his favourite puja that made him the most happiest.

Shiva mentioned ten vrats,but his most favoured vrat was Shivratri. The rituals should be performed four times as mentioned in Shivpuran. You have to prepare a parthiv or mud lingam and establish (staphna it with the chanting of Panchakshar mantra of Om Namah Shivay.

Follow it up with the sixteen step(Shodshhopchar/ षोड्षोपचार) puja right from bathing, offerings of flowers, dhoop, deep and naivedya. This shivling has to be worshipped four times and at the end of the night, it has to submerged in river,tank or pond.

There is an elaborate mention of all the offerings to be made seperately with different items for four times in Shivpuran. In the earliest puja use of Panchamrit, Chandan, Rice, Black sesame, lotus, Red flower of Kaner should be offered with seperate mantra for each offering.
