For those who wish to travel during this festive season, here are a few security tips. Don't be deceived, there is no security in Nigeria.

(1) If you have the means to, & can afford it, please travel by Air, Once your journey is beyond the boarders of 2 states in Nigeria.

 (2) If you must travel by road, please be on the lookout, against kidnappers. Kidnapping It is the most common and rampant crime now in Nigeria. It doesn't matter, if you are rich or poor. Government official, or private citizen. Kidnappers are on the rampage.
(3) Make sure your vehicle engine and Tyres are in good shape, for those traveling with private cars.
For those traveling with commercial vehicles, please go through a registered transport company. Where good & sound vehicles are guaranteed.
(4) For those traveling with private cars, make sure you follow only the roots, or roads you are conversant with. Drive through only the roads you know. Please don't divert to follow shortcuts. Shortcuts could be short ticket to danger or death. Don't follow roads you don't know.
(5) please don't travel in the night. Please don't drive in the night. Nigeria is not safe. If for any reason, you are held up in traffic until dark, drive down to the nearest police station, around and park. Or better still, drive into town, look for a hotel to pass the night.
(6) when you are traveling, be on the lookout for uniform men. Most especially, @PoliceNG and @HQNigerianArmy uniforms. They are the easiest tools kidnappers use these days, in perpetrating their crimes. They wear it to decive their victims. Be cautious over who wears camouflage.
(7) If you see men with @HQNigerianArmy uniforms on the road stoping you, check if their ARMY vehicle is parked by the roadside. Check if they are properly dressed. Check if their names are properly written on their uniforms. If you don't find all of these, please don't stop.
Kidnappers in Nigeria, are mostly using Army uniforms to decive their victims. Just yesterday, in Delta State, two teachers were kidnapped. The kidnappers came into the school, putting on Army uniforms. No one could question them. But if someone had taken note of their vehicle.🤷
@HQNigerianArmy will never deploy soldiers, on private vehicle. Or commercial buses. Not bearing @HQNigerianArmy registered No plate. So when you sight soldiers on the highway, check out for their ARMY vehicle.
Likewise with the @PoliceNG on the highways. Not inside town though.
(8) Don't carry so much cash with you, while traveling. And make sure you don't disclose your traveling plans to outsiders. Maintain communication with a close relative of yours, when traveling. Through out the duration of the journey.
(9) When driving, if someone points to your tyre or a fault in your car. Please don't stop the car immediately. Drive a little forward, before stepping out of the car to check. It could be a set up, to ambush you. And while driving on the road, maintain a good speed.
(10) For the commercial vehicles. Please go in convoys of 2 or 3 cars. Maintain a good and reasonable speed while traveling. Look out for road blocks, fallen trees, and bad roads. Leave on time, so you can reach on time.

1/ there is this sense when you are young that your accomplishments need to be a list of things that seem impressive to others. A list of several items you did.

This isn't actually right, so here is another suggestion.

2/ I remember being 26 and writing about reading 52 books a year. I wrote blog posts about it. They got copied. It became "a thing." Now it's in Twitter bios. It looks impressive but it's insanely useless and I shouldn't have done it.

3/ what I should have known at that time is that only young idiots like myself, with no accomplishments, find list of tiny achievements impressive. Anyone who has actually done anything of substance doesn't gaf

4/ what is actually difficult, and worthwhile, instead is to do ONE single thing for a very, very long time. It's much harder and much rarer and results in outlier outcomes much more often.

Of course you can find this out too late if you are chasing the dragon of Ted talks etc

5/ if I had only worked on a startup for a year, I would've gotten nowhere, the same way that if you lift for 3 months, it achieves nothing. Everything good in life comes from perseverance, but at the beginning, you're just like "I need to be somebody!!!"

After the phenomenon called Sri Chandrasekhara Bharati came another one - Sri Abhinava Vidya Teertha [1954-1989] the 35th Jagadguru. Srinivasa was born on Nov 13, 1917. He was initiated into Sanyasa by Sri Chandrasekhara Bharati in 1931. He was Jagadguru for 35 years.

He was chosen and specifically trained to take over Peetadhipatyam from Sri Mahaswami. He is majorly responsible for the way Sringeri currently is. He built various buildings for devotees, Gajashala, Gooshala etc.

Acharya on conversions:
Once a person approached Sri Acharya that some other religions are trying to convert Hindus and requested Sri AVT to do prevent these conversions.

AVT replied - what do u mean by religion? Religion i.e. mata is related to 'mati' or intellect.
Caste is called 'jAti' which is related to janana or birth.
Ex- breed of a cow. we cannot change its qualities to resemble another breed by changing its name.

Today is Jayanti of Ahilyabai Holkar

She was a widow who became Malwa's greatest queen. Defended our country & personally led armies into battle.Never plundered anyone. Developed Malwa into a prosperous kingdom. Rebuilt temples destroyed by Mughals. Built Dharmashalas at Tirthas


Unfortunately, her memory has been blemished by inaccurate representations in modern popular media.

The serial "Punyashlok Ahilyabai" depicts her as ultra secularist feminazi icon who questions Hindu rituals & Pandits while patronising Sufis.

This is far from historical truth!


Ahilyabai was born on May 31 1725 to Patil Mankoji Shinde.

She was from Dhangar clan(classified as OBC today). While Dhangars were traditionally into herding, they took up arms & held several military /civil roles in various eras of history(especially during Maratha resurgence)


In 1737, when she was 12, Ahilyabai Holkar was married to Khanderao , son of Subedar Malhar Rao Holkar.

By the time she was married, fortunes of Holkar family had already waxed.

Malhar Rao was a Subedar of territory comprising 30 Parganas yielding a revenue of at least 7 Lakh


In 1741, when Ahilyabai was newly married, her father -in-law Malhar Rao Built Indore palace & ordered the kanungo to populate the settlement with a promise of protection to traders.

This began rise of Indore from its background as modest trading town Indrapuri to a great city
