I have moved houses a couple of times in the past 8 years that I have been married but this is the first time I am doing a big move from one city to another with all my house stuff after the kids were born (thread)

 Didn't think it'd be so hard coz we don't even have much stuff. we lived in a furnished house in the first 5 years and then kids happened and furniture was unnecessary coz if you have kids you know that they think furniture is for doing everything except sitting and relaxing
So we don't have beds (kids will fall down), no TV (kids will likely break it), no chest of drawers (had one, kids open and shut it so many times, it broke), no study table/work desk (lol, kitchen sink and dining table is only study table)
We also never bought any toys for the kids because again if you have kids, you know how useless toys are. The kids have played more with our furniture and our utensils than any of the expensive toys they were gifted with
(BUT ALWAYS HAVE 200 TYPES OF BALLS AND CARS)
Even clothes we don't have much because the kids outgrow stuff so fast, we keep donating clothes and husband works from home and has been wearing the same shorts and t-shirt since the day we got married and I have some 15-20 kurtas/leggings which I have been wearing for years
So basically we have very little stuff (or so I thought) and since I wasn't around when my husband and father in law packed up our house in Hyderabad, I had NO idea of the number of boxes and the amount of stuff I had, till yesterday
So here I am waiting in Ahmedabad for the truck to come and I am thinking - sofa, dining table, fridge, microwave and maybe 8-10 boxes of stuff. That should be easy to unpack in a couple of hours.
In comes the truck and apart from the furniture, SIXTY ONE boxes of stuff is off loaded and I am just like bhaiya some mistake, did you bring us other people's stuff too and no - ALL OF THIS IS JUNK FROM MY HOUSE
So husband and i take a deep breath and start sorting and unpacking in a systematic manner and I want to share some lessons with you which I hope you will follow so you are not faced with 61 boxes filled with random stuff when you move
As a summary, I had about 10-15 boxes of just kitchen stuff, 8-10 boxes of bedsheets and pillow covers(!!), another 8-10 boxes of pillows (SIGH!), 7-8 boxes of books, 4-5 boxes of pictures/frames, 4 boxes of clothes and about 8-10 boxes of misc shit
Lesson 1: Kitchen
YOU THINK YOU NEED ALL THOSE PLASTIC TAKEAWAY BOXES. NO YOU DON'T. THROW THEM AWAY.
I have so much ridiculous plastic takeaway boxes and tupperware boxes without their soulmates (the lids) that it filled two boxes, most of which I finally threw
Lesson 2: Kitchen
Make an excel sheet of all the vessels you have and the quantities.
I kept buying stuff thinking I didn't have spoons or plates or whatever, turns out past me had stashed away 'emergency' vessels which I had forgotten about and just kept buying stuff
Lesson 3:
You don't need so many vessels. I spent the past one year as a masters students with 5 plates, spoons, one plan, one kadai, one cooker and some other stuff here and I managed just fine without needing anything more
Lesson 4:
So useless but OMG so pretty and I am SURE i will use it is the reason I have 15 boxes of random kitchen stuff which I could have put in an SIP instead. Would have had some returns instead of plastic boxes without lids
Lesson 5:
Coasters, place mats, table mats, runners - LOL. You are never going to use them. They are too pretty for you to use when you are alone and no one who comes to your house will ever be special enough for those. Just don't buy them
Lesson 6:
STOP BUYING BEDSHEETS. no just stop. I know instagram is full of pretty bedsheets and quilts and cushion covers. You don't need to possess every single one of those. Buy few good quality ones which you use till they fade
Lesson 7
Guests in your house need love, care, a space free of judgement and good food and company. THEY AREN'T COMING BECAUSE YOU HAVE NICE PILLOWS. I have bought new pillows every time I have had a guest and I don't know why?!
Lesson 8
Books. SIGH
There is no lesson here. I will wait for someone to give me a good lesson on this which doesn't involve giving away or throwing books but still makes them easy to transport and store and pick and read
Lesson 9
You think you need a lot of stationery and diaries and notebooks BUT YOU ACTUALLY DON'T. I have some 200 pens and crayons and color pencils and notebooks most of which are unused and have dried and are ready to be thrown. Some 3 boxes were full of stationery junk
Lesson 10
THROW ELECTRONICS AND ALL ITS WIRES AS AND WHEN YOU STOP USING IT.
I have a Nokia 6600 charger and I don't know why. I last used it in 2008.

Will keep updating this thread as and when I keep unpacking more because lol obviously I am not done unpacking yet and when I say lessons for you, I obviously mean lessons for me so I will come back to this thread the next time I have to move houses or buy junk

I have just received information about a family that has locked up their child at home in isolation because she complained of some aches in her body. They suspected the child as having C19. She was tested and after a couple of days, the test came out negative. 1/n

The girl has already been in isolation for 4 days. Now they are waiting to do another PCR test today to check again because they fear that the first test was done too early and it didn't detect covid. So this little girl will remain in isolation for at least another 24 hrs. 2/n

1. Most people are aware of the fail doxes posted by Jamilla Moor on @Snakeeater36 and myself. I'm going to go into the details (in layman terms) of exactly how a specific group of duhnonymous idiots came up with these fail doxes & I'll prove that they're wrong.

2. @Snakeeater36 posted this screenshot on his TL. He had exposed the page source code on tweet which included an image. Anyone can do this in Chrome by opening a tweet, clicking on the image, then right click on any open space on the screen, select "inspect", then "network".

3. In fact I did the same by pulling up a different tweet and image. You'll see the IP highlighted in yellow and the region Dallas TX. It's not my IP. It belongs to Akamai which is identified. Why is that important.......


4. Well Akamai is a Content Delivery Network also known as a CDN. A CDN, is a geographically distributed network of proxy servers (make note of the term "proxy" servers) and their data centers. More later on why this is important relative to the fail doxes.

5. CDNs allow companies like Twitter to provide better performance in uploading content, like images, by distributing the service spatially relative to end users. Rather than pushing content directly (left), Twitter uses CDN networks (right) to push/pull images from end users.

Yesterday I refused unsafe work. This is how it went.

1st, to the haters. Since when is it "normal" to go to work scared for your health, your life, and your family's lives? It is our right not be scared at work and our employer (in my case, the gov) needs to put measures in place so we aren't afraid. That is law, not just words.

There were 2 steps to the refusal. Refusing to work to my employer, and refusing to work to the Ministry. If my concerns were addressed in Step 1 - to my employer, there is not need to go to the Ministry. We went to the Ministry.

Involved in my refusal were my administration team, a Health and Safety Inspector from my employer, a Health and Safety Inspector from my union, and later in Step 2, a Ministry of Labour Inspector.

I first stated my specific concerns to my adm. They were so supportive in doing everything in their power to address my concerns. I want to thank them for that. They took my concerns seriously. My concerns were all tied to the increased contagiousness of the new variants:

This temple dedicated to pawanputra Hanuman, near the banks of Tungabhadra river was built by dwaita philosopher and rajguru of the Vijayanagar empire, Sri Vyasaraja around +500 years ago.


:It is only in this temple that Hanuman appears in a prayer position. In this image, Bhagwan Hanuman’s crown has been formed by his tail.12 monkeys have been carved around this amulet.


:They represent the 12 days Sri Vyasaraja prayed to Hanuman ji. Each monkey holds the tail of the monkey in front of him but is facing backward. Seed syllables have also been carved around the amulet.


:It is believed that Sri Vyasaraja used to draw a picture of lord Hanuman here on the rocks before offering prayers using charcoal and the sketch disappeared after prayers.This incidence happened for 12 days in a row until he pleaded to bhagwan to appear in front of him.


On the 12th day, Hanuman ji appeared in front of Sri Vyasaraja and blessed him. Hanuman asked Sri Vyasaraja to constrain him in a hexagonal amulet & install him in that place.

Halahala visham to save the world during Samudra mathanam. 

It is a famous temple where people seek the blessings, for curing the Kaivisham. The poison given by someone to destroy a person is made to vomit here. This is removed by making them vomit the poison by a special


medicine.
The medicine for vomiting is made from a plant near temple by Palodathu family. The milk offered to Bhagwan is mixed with the extracts of the plant.

Story says that once this place was a dense forest, and a woman was looking for the presence of a tortoise in the pond


and the tip of her stick hit the bottom and it started bleeding in the pond. 
Frightened, the lady informed every one and after searching in pond people found Swayambhu Lingam inside the pond. Thus Prathishta was done here.

Importance of Famous Payyannur Pavithra Mothiram or Ring

Payyanur Sri Subramanya Swami Temple 🚩

Temple, constructed by Parasurama is known as the 'Pazhani' of Kerala.The place got its name from 'Payyante Ooru' where Payyan is another name by which Subramanya was called.


There are references about this temple in Brahmanda purana. Muni Garga mentions this temple and the place to  the Pandavas when they were in Vanavasa. Temple was destroyed two times, once due to fire and then during the attack of Tipu Sultan.


Important tradition here is wearing of Pavithram by the temple priest. Pavithram is a sort of  ring worn during performing Vedic rituals or during the "pithrubali". Usually worn while performing Tarpana or Shradham. The traditional Pavitram is usually made of Dharbha grass
