1. Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets - John Murphy

A book which builds your basics on charts, trends, price patterns, MAs, oscillators etc. A must read for beginners!

Amazing book covering critical concept of volatility contraction pattern. It is a timeless pattern rooted in human psychology & demand, supply forces. He is a multiple time US investing champion & a rags to riches story!

Guru of a lot of investors and the one who gave the CANSLIM strategy! This along with Minervini's book is the minimum you should surely read.


4. Rare book which u might not have heard of: How to Sell by Justin Mamis

An old book published around 1980! Read this only after you are well-versed with the basics. I found it pretty good with new stuff which cements your thoughts.

Some tips for making effective presentations along with tech tools.

Know your audience

A presentation in front of Prime Minister would not be the same as that infront of your technical team. Even if the topic is the same. Understand the audience and know what they need from the presentation. Plan accordingly

Structure

Some people naturally think in a very coherent way. If you are not one of those, make an outline of the presentation first. Try to get the flow right.

Problem-Solution kind of presentation

State the problem and then tell what you did to solve it. (or going to do)
The 'how' you achieved it should follow after that. This gives more impact

Slides

Make concise slides with few words. The slides should just be cues for you and your audience. Dont put all details in them. Just a few phrases/lines should sufice

👉 Measure

Check your phone usage and apps u spent time on every week. Many times you dont even know how much time you are wasting on mobile apps. Android users can use free apps like

Steps to reduce usage

👉 Physical distance
Keep the phone with the internet switched off and away from you while studying. You can also keep it locked and with a parent/ friend. Heavens will not fall while you are studying and if it is something urgent, you will get the message.

👉 Technological solution:

Use apps like Blackout to block internet for at least 6 hours every day. Force yourself to study in that time. It is not a free app, but it is very effective. Once it blacks out the phone, you can't go back for the period

👉 Early morning study

Keep the alarm away from you, on loud volume. Most likely once you get up from the bed to switch off the alarm, you will decide to not go back to sleep and study. Early morning study is the best these days especially as it has lesser distractions

1. Reversibility - Used by Jeff Bezos

Categorizes decisions based on whether they are reversible or irreversible

👉 Reversible - 2 way door: Can go back from decision with less/no cost
👉 Irreversible - 1 way door: If enter once, can't exit (Or the cost is very high)

👉 Reversible: decide quickly without perfect process. Dont take much time.
(This is not to be reckless though)

👉 Irreversible: Decide slowly and take as much information into account as possible

When Bezos was deciding to leave his job at DE Shaw to start Amazon, he thought that he could come back to job if Amazon doesn't work. So it was a reversible decision.

He decided to launch Amazon quickly. He got the first mover advantage and the rest is history!

2. Inversion - Charlie Munger

Instead of thinking what would make you successful, first see what would make you fail. Then remove those things.

If you are following a goal, first see what can kill it for you. Avoid that.

Sharing one incident... After Modi's Trichy youth conference, the very next morning when police were clearing up their mini-control room, they found 5 strange boys who were roaming there with bags. When police enquired them "Sir, we are from Subramaniapuram in Trichy.

Whatever political meeting or conference is held in this ground, we come here on the same night or morning hours to collect the Liquor bottles to sell in the scrap shop for 50 paisa to 1 rupee per bottle and we used to earn Rs 200 to Rs 400 on each such event.

Even in the last DMK meeting the very next day we collected around 1500 bottles. But for Modi's BJP meeting, we could not find even a single bottle in the whole ground. We are coming around and around and not a single bottle in any corner of the G Corner ground in Trichy,

we are much disappointed, sir!". Police seem were stunned and pleasantly surprised. This is what Modi magic does in this nation. Modi is the one who can lead our nation and make everyone prosper with hardwork in right direction and proper approach.

The Haas / Force India argument is fascinating, and the decision of the stewards may still have consequences. The first key finding is that the stewards ruled Racing Point Force India to be a valid constructor. That means that it builds its own cars.

Haas had argued that the cars had been designed by Force India, but as Haas knows only too well, "outsourcing" is legal. The stewards decided that "there is no regulatory support for the argument that Outsourcing of Listed Parts cannot come from a former or excluded team."

In determining this, the stewards also came to the following conclusion: "In relation to the submission by the Racing Point Force India F1 Team that it is not a new team, the Stewards decide that the Racing Point Force India F1 Team is indeed a new team."

This will have a big knock on effect for Haas in its continued arguments over the rights of RPFI as relates to its eligibility and rights under the complex payments structure. Haas has argued all along that RPFI should be treated as a new team and tread the same path that it did.

TLDR? Haas lost the fight but may have won the war. In having its argument that Racing Point hadn't designed their own car thrown out, they gained clarification that RPFI was a new team.
