The Confusion Around Idol Worship in Hinduism!

 The belief that God is a singular being is prevalent in India. God is formless. India is controversially renowned for its ancient statues of gods. What causes this contradictory circumstance to occur? Everyone would have at some point heard the phrase "God is one."
either in motion pictures or intellectual discussions on religious harmony. I grew up hearing sermons about how the Puranas, the Smritis, and the Shrutis all describe God as existing in the way that the devotee sees him.
I questioned how God could have form when there are sculptures and paintings to give it shape. These forms are clearly identified by their complex structural details. Hinduism's idol worship is in conflict with the fact that God has no physical form.

Helen Keller is a name that we have all heard of. It's a well-known legend that she first experienced water as a chilly fluid flowing around her fingertips.
But she had a great deal of difficulty understanding such basic ideas and was very frustrated.
Such challenges go unnoticed. No one would choose to experience such suffering if they could see the shape of the water rather than learn from a description. To believe anything, people need to see it and observe it.
Many of our friends and relatives would have rather to witness what we saw for themselves than believed us when we told them about it. Sometimes, even we would not have believed our friends.
Hindu idol worship is likely about the psychological repercussions - about giving God a physical shape. Our thoughts are influenced by what our eyes observe. Consider how difficult it is for us to picture a cloud simply by hearing about it.
We can better understand a cloud when we can see it. Then a cloud is likewise not what we perceive it to be when we are close up, is it?
The same is true for worshipping God with complete commitment; simply expressing your feelings about God is insufficient. God is thus given a clearly defined form, which leads to Hinduism's idol worship. Or, to put it simply, God is presented in d shape that you would like to see
Each religion has its own interpretation of the God sign. Muslims have the moon and star; Christians have the cross. Yahudis revere fire as their god. Shilpa Shatra first appeared in the Puranas, and then people began to carve statues of God. For a mental connection, they do it.
The shape and form are there for you to perceive and relate to, since, as the saying goes, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
The development of the soul and idols

They might develop their spiritual side by concentrating on sculptures or god symbols. Having a focal point is important since the human mind is prone to distraction.
The idols of God are imbued with devotion, and this practice gained importance in the early days of the bhakti movement. It can practice devotion everywhere, including at home and in small temples, thanks to idol worship. As a result, idol worship also aids in concentration.
The truth is that God has no form. By the Vedas, God is described as the unfathomable cosmic mind. It is widely indisputable. The first step to experiencing Spiritual enlightenment is accepting and embracing this concept.
As a result, early on, spiritual seekers largely need idols, forms, shapes, and images. Yes, idol worship is common because it helps everyday people in their busy lives practice commitment and concentration.
A common man can find hope, tranquilly, and happiness in this idea during the early phases of his spiritual development. These are some of the reasons why idol worship is important in Hinduism.

12 Azhwars (Alwars)

The 12 Azhwars, (the Main composers of Naalayira Divya Prabandam - 4000 poetic Rhymes) are known as Nityasuris or Divyasuris; those who reside permanently with the Lord in His Heavenly abode.


They have incarnated as Azhwars -Vasihnavite Saints - to propagate Bhakthi Marga, devotion to Lord Vishnu.

Alwars have dedicated their lives towards Lord Sriman Narayana and they led their life by praising Him.

These Alwars were born in various parts of our country but they were all united in a common subject, ie dedicating their lives and praising the Lord.

Poigai Alwar, Bhoodath Alwar and Pei Alwar are collectively called as "Mudhal Alwars" were found in the same period of time.

Thirumazhisai Alwar, who thought the Perumal as his friend and has sung Mangalasasanam on Perumal.

Thirumangai Alwar was a great king and later, changed his life to work for the Perumal and for his bhaktaas.

Thondaradippodi Alwar, who is also named as "Vipra Narayanar" led his life as the servant to the God and did service to Him by offering beautiful Garlands.

Sri Kalyana Ramachandra Sannadhi, Gummadidala village, 40 km from Hyderabad, in Medak district, Telangana.

Unique Rama temple near Hyderabad where Hanuman finds no place.


Here we can find Rama, His Consort, Devi Sita, His brothers Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna, and their wives, Urmila, Mandavi and Shrutakeerthi on one platform.

Interestingly, while Rama is normally seen clean shaven, in this temple he sports a mustache.

"This temple is the only temple we have in our country which has Lord Rama’s brothers’ and their wives’ idols installed in the temple”.

The temple is the only Lord Rama temple without Hanuman.
The story behind it is that since Hanuman is considered an incarnation of Lord Shiva, followers of the Veera Vaishnavism of Sri Ramanuja Charyulu did not install a Hanuman idol in the temple.

'Treasure Gods' - Sangha Nidhi' and 'Padma Nidhi', Tirumala, Tirupati.

These are the two guards guarding the Wealth and Treasure of Lord Sri Venkateswara.

They are representatives of two treasures of Kubera, the God of Wealth.


One guard who is holding shangam (conch) on both the hands is known as Shanka Nidhi ('nidhi' means wealth).

On the other side, the guard who is holding Lotus flowers on both the hands is known as Padma nidhi.

Shangu is from the ocean which includes all types of wealth like pearls and corals.

Why shagam in his hand? Because shangam only gives the sound of 'omkaram'.

'Padmam' is the symbol of water sources in land like river, lakes, tanks etc. which is very important for all living beings.

As per the tradition, these guards are installed at the third entrance of the temple.

One enters the holy shrine after saluting the first protection threshold - Sankha Nidhi and Padma Nidhi.

This strength as has been tested by one American Scientist Dr. Howardes Stein grill, who collected various mantras, chanting and invocations of different religions, from all over the world, and tested their strength in his Physiology lab.

RANI NAIKI DEVI AND THE BATTLE OF KASAHRADA

Mohammad Ghori, the young Ghurid Prince conquered Ghaznavids in Afghanistan in the year 1173 CE. He conducted some successful raids into the Indian territory, which even Mahmud Ghazni & the Persians couldn't do.


First&foremost,Ghori invaded states of Multan &Uch in India.After this he turned to southern states of Gujarat &Rajputana.Everybody knows this about Ghori,but what most pple r unaware of is the defeat he suffered at hands of Chalukyan Queen Naiki Devi in 1178 Battle of Kasahrada.


When he marched southwards, his first target was the prosperous fortified town of Anhilwara Patan.
It was the capital of Chalukyas(also known as Solankis of Gujarat) which was established by Vanraj of Chapotkata Dynasty in 8th century.


American historian Tertius Chandler states that it was the 10th largest city in the world at that time. The history of Chalukyas has been written by many historians, but the valour of the Great Queen Naiki Devi remains unsung.


Born to the Kadamba King Paramardin of Goa,Naiki Devi was well trained in sword fighting, horse riding, strategy & every other subject of Statesmanship. She was married to King Ajaypala of Gujarat who sat on throne in 1171CE. Unfortunately,the King died within 4 yrs of his rule.

Thirugnana Sambandar & Appar(Thirunavukkarasar) travelled together to various Shiva Alayam to spread shivam & bhakti among people.They both reached Thirumaraikadu.


Thirumaraikadu(Vedaranyam) -
Appar & Sambandar were asked to enter the temple through side entrance.The main door was locked by Vedas many years ago.Appar&Sambandar sang devotional hymns praising Shiva, after which the gates opened & closed.After which main door opened for all.


After darshan of Bhagwan Shiva at Thirumaraikkadu,Sambandar received a message to travel to Madurai.
During that time, Samanam was on the rise in the Pandya Kingdom.The Pandya King converted to Samanam.The Queen Mangaiyarkkarasi was a staunch Shiva devotee and was upset.

Kularchirai Nayanar ,Chief Minister of Pandya kingdom was in agony by the turn of events.Queen requested Kulachirai Nayanar to escort Thiru gnana Sambandar to Madurai.Kularchirai Nayanar met Thiru gnana Sambandar at Thirumaraikkadu & requested him to visit Madurai.

Rani Bhabani was the Queen of Natore, Bengal or 'Natorer Rani' as she was famously called. She made great contributions in Tarapith & renovated Benaras.

In Varanasi, Durga Kund Mandir was constructed by Rani Bhabani in the 18th century.


Born in Chhatimgram village, Bogra District,Her father's name was Atmaram Choudhury.Bhabani was married off to Raja Ramkanta Moitra,the then zamindar of Rajshahi.After his death, Bhabani became the zamindar, and started being referred to as Rani.She was known as Ardhabangeshwari.

A woman as a zamindar was extremely rare in those days, but Rani Bhabani managed the vast Rajshahi zamindari most efficiently and effectively for over four decades.
Maharani Bhavani was very pious in her personal life. She passed her life in a strict disciplined way.


She conducted the administrative work skillfully. As a Maharani she was an impartial judge. Rani Bhavani had a very hard time during the fag end of her life. The Zamindari (estate) incurred serious loss due to the change of the revenue policy of the company.

In spite of being the owner of a large Zamindari (estate), she had to depend on the stipend of the government in the later part of her life. The amount of this stipend gradually decreased and became Rs. 1000/- only in the end.

Rishi Kanada was born around 600 BCE in Dwarka, Gujarat and he was the son of a philosopher named Ulka. He was fascinated with the minute detailing of the things right from his childhood. Once, when he was very young, he accompanied his father on a journey to Prayaga.


He saw plentiful grains scattered along the path leading to the shore of river Ganga. It's a tradition in Hindu families to scatter the grains for the ants and birds to feed on them. Suddenly, an ant caught his attention, who was feeding on a rice grain.


He was mesmerised by this very fact that how a small grain of rice becomes food for the ant but to satisfy the hunger of a person so many grains are needed together. This incidence made him realize the importance of a single grain of rice.
