A friend asked what lessons I'd learned after spending two years off Twitter & away from politics.

Here are a few from my older, wiser, post-covid self.

These are just one guy's take-aways after some observing and soul-searching. Take them as you will.

 1. Most people are nice. And normal. Most have common sense. There may not be a political constituency for the common sense middle, but this is where most people are. Twitter algos warp us so bad we lose sight of this. Sometimes we need to leave our echo chambers to see this.
2. No, the sky isn't falling. Returning to Twitter, I am struck by how much catastrophizing there is on all sides. From AMERICAN DEMOCRACY IS UNDER ATTACK to WOKE GLOBALISTS ARE TAKING OVER THE WORLD. I get it, the drama works. It creates urgency. But it is usually overstated.
The problem with catastrophizing is that it creates a sort of wartime logic. "We are in a WAR for ___ and you better pick a side and win by any means necessary." I see this logic a lot on this hellsite & in our politics. It often leads to moral compromise & bad decisions.
3. Social media controls us more than we realize. I used to think Twitter enhanced my independent critical thinking. Now I view it as a cesspool of weird social & psychic pressures. It activates this performative, dopamine-driven part of our brains. Staying away can be freeing.
Any wonder social media is creating a generation of mentally disturbed young people? Today's social media algos are unanchored from any sense of public good. This is having all kinds of effects on our psyches & societies.

4. We live in an influencer-driven culture. But being an influencer is dangerous. It exposes you to harassment & bad-faith actors. It encourages & rewards your worst traits. It may turn you into an addict, narcissist, or kook. You can be led off a cliff by your own audience.
Being an influencer & staying sane takes extreme fortitude. I admire those who can do it.

As a rule, I'd advise against it. Do not trade your soul for clicks.
5. Your journey, including your mistakes, can help others. It takes a while to own our stories, but we all have them. Think about the last two years under Covid. What was your experience it? How did it change you? I don't know anyone whose life didn't change.
6. If you've been through some stuff, remember there's only one member of your audience you can't change: yourself. Make sure you like the guy in the mirror. Start there, with the inside job. Ignore the external. Forgive yourself & get on track from within. The rest will follow.
7. Love & kindness matter. I know this sounds all yoga-Unitarian, but you can really feel the source of people's energy. "Is this coming from a good or a bad place?" is a question to ask. This doesn't mean being rolling over. Just make sure your edge is coming from a good place.
8. Guardrails are important. Moral, legal, Constitutional. It's easy to feel constrained by them when we are in the race. But remember the point of guardrails: they are there to keep us safe.
9. The political climate is so divisive, you know what's contrarian? Consensus-building. Lol. But seriously, when you hear someone's story of why they believe what they do and how they arrived there, it is hard to hate them. Political testimonies are powerful.
It's ok to acknowledge someone is a good person despite holding dramatically different views.

10. There's nothing more meaningful than building a family, creating life, raising kids. We may have different views about what forms this should take, but isn't there something universal here? Obviously, you can live a good life without having kids - but man, it is meaningful.
Parenting small children under Covid was rough. I remember recognizing the "exhausted parent" look on others at the time. Most parents, I realized, are just trying to hold it together. (Totally not projecting or anything, ha)

'Treasure Gods' - Sangha Nidhi' and 'Padma Nidhi', Tirumala, Tirupati.

These are the two guards guarding the Wealth and Treasure of Lord Sri Venkateswara.

They are representatives of two treasures of Kubera, the God of Wealth.


One guard who is holding shangam (conch) on both the hands is known as Shanka Nidhi ('nidhi' means wealth).

On the other side, the guard who is holding Lotus flowers on both the hands is known as Padma nidhi.

Shangu is from the ocean which includes all types of wealth like pearls and corals.

Why shagam in his hand? Because shangam only gives the sound of 'omkaram'.

'Padmam' is the symbol of water sources in land like river, lakes, tanks etc. which is very important for all living beings.

As per the tradition, these guards are installed at the third entrance of the temple.

One enters the holy shrine after saluting the first protection threshold - Sankha Nidhi and Padma Nidhi.

If you are the CEO or CFO at a business who banks with SVB; here are some things you CAN do over the weekend

1. Build a 4 week rolling daily receipts and payments style cashflow forecast.

2. Gear up finance team to actualize & reforecast every AM by 10am

3. Schedule a Daily Cash Management Crisis call for 10am every day. CEO to chair

4. Redirect any future cash receipts / revenue into non SVB accounts. Don’t throw fresh money on the fire.

5. If SVB is your only current bank. Open accounts with 2 other AA or A rated banks.

6. Go supplier by supplier and grade them a, b or c
a - showstoppers
b - pay if you can
c - don’t pay

You want as few a’s as possible, ideally none.

7. Find out how to get your $250k FDIC cash.

8. If you are able to pull any deposits or bonds back into a non SVB account. Do it. Put hands on any liquid you can.

9. Communicate a salary deferral plan with your top team. CEO takes the most pain $ and %. Important signal.

10. Elevate sign off of all new POs to CEO and CFO jointly. Don’t sign any off.

11. Make a list of ‘survival headcount’. The bare minimum on which the business can operate.

You may need this to prioritize payroll later.

At this point it's clear some members of Congress are either in on this and helping the cover story or they haven't got a clue and are out in the cold.

First, rumors surfaced of a scheduled meeting on Oct. 11 between Rosenstein & members of Congress, and Rosenstein just cancelled it.

If there is one thing I have learned it is that people love bullshit. They buy bullshit stories from professional bullshit artists, accept bullshit philosophies, purchase bullshit how-to-books, vote for bullshitting politicians.

At first, I resisted believing this because it is illogical and dumb and frankly, doesn't reflect well on the human race of which I am a member (and thus have long been hopeful that it is more of a distinction than it actually turns out to be.)

But if you actually are interested in facts you begin to notice how little most people care for them. Sometimes it is because they are heard to learn and bullshit is so much more widely and easily available. Sometimes it is because facts make them uncomfortable about themselves.

Sometimes it is because just one tiny fact will upset a whole worldview that has grown as comfortable as an overstuffed chair. (Settling into such worldviews is a lot like settling into chairs like that because the longer you're there and the deeper you sink...

...the harder it is to hoist yourself up and out of your fat-assed intellectual laziness.) But I actually think the reason people have such an appetite for bullshit goes deeper, goes to an aspect of ourselves we just can't accept.

1. Chhatrapati Shivaji chose Pantaji as a lawyer to communicate with Afzal Khan. Pantaji was very sharp minded, who did his job very nicely.

2. He presented Chhatrapati Shivaji is fearing Afzal Khan and he wanted to invite him in his kingdom near Pratapgad.

The Haas / Force India argument is fascinating, and the decision of the stewards may still have consequences. The first key finding is that the stewards ruled Racing Point Force India to be a valid constructor. That means that it builds its own cars.

Haas had argued that the cars had been designed by Force India, but as Haas knows only too well, "outsourcing" is legal. The stewards decided that "there is no regulatory support for the argument that Outsourcing of Listed Parts cannot come from a former or excluded team."

In determining this, the stewards also came to the following conclusion: "In relation to the submission by the Racing Point Force India F1 Team that it is not a new team, the Stewards decide that the Racing Point Force India F1 Team is indeed a new team."

This will have a big knock on effect for Haas in its continued arguments over the rights of RPFI as relates to its eligibility and rights under the complex payments structure. Haas has argued all along that RPFI should be treated as a new team and tread the same path that it did.

TLDR? Haas lost the fight but may have won the war. In having its argument that Racing Point hadn't designed their own car thrown out, they gained clarification that RPFI was a new team.

On the day of Amavasya, devotees get the darshan of Shyam Baba in Shyam varan (black color). In ordinary days, the form of Baba is saffron. The reason for this is a custom. The real head of Shyam Baba which had appeared from Shyam Kund is of Shyam varan.


Every day Shyam Baba's grand Shringar is done by Pujaris. The main part of Shyam Baba's shringar is Tilak. This Shringar is done by the members of Nij Mandir sevaks. The sevaks of the Nij Mandir do sandalwood tilak to Baba everyday in the auspicious time.


This Divine Tilak is applied from the forehead to the nose. When Baba is given a bath by sevaks, this tilak comes off. Then in the auspicious time, the sevaks again apply tilak to Baba.


There is no auspicious time on the Amavasya. Because of this, tilak is not done on that day. That's why devotees have darshan of Shyam Baba on the Amavasya only in the actual real form (Shyam Swaroop). Baba's tilak is done on Amavasya only on the day of Deepawali.
