I am writing this in tears. My brother was hit on the head at school(Moi Forces Academy Eastleigh). On Saturday 21st August 11 am I recieved a text from his Deputy principal to go pick him because he had an issue with his eyes.. #stopschoolviolence#banbeating

On getting in the Uber.. He asked me to take him to hospital quick. We came to Coptic ran blood tests and Covid test. We thought he had Covid. All tests came negative. We went home. After hours he started being incoherent. We got worried and scanned him #banbeating #BackToSchool
So we noticed he had a swelling on his head.He still couldn't speak. After a few minutes his left side stopped working. So we rushed to get a CT scan and found out he had bleeding in the head next to the brain. He is currently in the HDU. #BackToSchool #banschoolbeating
We tried to call the school no one is responding or explaining what happened. They called back yesterday after my parents posted on the class groupBut it is clear he was hit considering he has no marks on the body. This is not the first time this has happened.

Last time a guy was beaten till he broke his ribs. We pay school fees for our children to be beaten like this?what would a child do to deserve this kind of treatment? Is this discipline? this is assault. @FredMatiangi #BackToSchool #banschoolbeating
@Prof_magoha beating in schools was banned why is Moi Forces still allowing teachers and prefect to beat students?
Kindly Retweet for the relevant authorities to deal with this. This time it's my brother next time it will be your son! Let's put an end to this.BOYCOTT MOI FORCES!!

How can we use language supervision to learn better visual representations for robotics?

Introducing Voltron: Language-Driven Representation Learning for Robotics!

Paper: https://t.co/gIsRPtSjKz
Models: https://t.co/NOB3cpATYG
Evaluation: https://t.co/aOzQu95J8z

🧵👇(1 / 12)

Videos of humans performing everyday tasks (Something-Something-v2, Ego4D) offer a rich and diverse resource for learning representations for robotic manipulation.

Yet, an underused part of these datasets are the rich, natural language annotations accompanying each video. (2/12)

The Voltron framework offers a simple way to use language supervision to shape representation learning, building off of prior work in representations for robotics like MVP (
https://t.co/Pb0mk9hb4i) and R3M (https://t.co/o2Fkc3fP0e).

The secret is *balance* (3/12)

Starting with a masked autoencoder over frames from these video clips, make a choice:

1) Condition on language and improve our ability to reconstruct the scene.

2) Generate language given the visual representation and improve our ability to describe what's happening. (4/12)

By trading off *conditioning* and *generation* we show that we can learn 1) better representations than prior methods, and 2) explicitly shape the balance of low and high-level features captured.

Why is the ability to shape this balance important? (5/12)

https://t.co/TgNblNSCBj – here is why the same applies to Product Management, too.

There is no better way of learning the craft of product, or proving your potential to employers, than just doing it.

You do not need anybody's permission. We don't have diplomas, nor doctorates. We can barely agree on a single standard of what a Product Manager is supposed to do.

But – there is at least one blindingly obvious industry consensus – a Product Manager makes Products.

And they don't need to be kept at the exact right temperature, given endless resource, or carefully protected in order to do this.

They find their own way.
I'm going to do two history threads on Ethiopia, one on its ancient history, one on its modern story (1800 to today). 🇪🇹

I'll begin with the ancient history ... and it goes way back. Because modern humans - and before that, the ancestors of humans - almost certainly originated in Ethiopia. 🇪🇹 (sub-thread):

The first likely historical reference to Ethiopia is ancient Egyptian records of trade expeditions to the "Land of Punt" in search of gold, ebony, ivory, incense, and wild animals, starting in c 2500 BC 🇪🇹

Ethiopians themselves believe that the Queen of Sheba, who visited Israel's King Solomon in the Bible (c 950 BC), came from Ethiopia (not Yemen, as others believe). Here she is meeting Solomon in a stain-glassed window in Addis Ababa's Holy Trinity Church. 🇪🇹

References to the Queen of Sheba are everywhere in Ethiopia. The national airline's frequent flier miles are even called "ShebaMiles". 🇪🇹

Less than 1 hour since I started adding stuff to https://t.co/lDdqjtKTZL again, and profile pages are now responsive!!! 🥳 Check it out -> https://t.co/fVkEL4fu0L

Accounts page is now also responsive!! 📱✨

💪 I managed to make the whole site responsive in about an hour. On my roadmap I had it down as 4-5 hours!!! 🤘🤠🤘
