New to CMSD BOE meetings?

The Board of Education functions as the governing body of the School District.

The Board of Education meetings are held on two Tuesdays each month at 6:30pm.
1st meeting of each month is a work session & deals with information gathering, discussion & deliberation on issues or topics for future Board business meetings.

2nd meeting of each month is a business meeting, & deals with the consideration of and voting on Board resolutions.

CEO Gordon continues his Executive Report and informs the BBM about the Summers Learning Experience. They've increased advertising, have around ~4300 students involved, and are hiring for internship positions like student ambassador.

Robert Heard is providing community feedback he has heard.

A common question Mr. Heard has seen, "Is the Summer Experience available for non CMSD enrolled students?"

CEO Gordon, "It is only for CMSD enrolled students. ... Exclusively for district students."
Robert Heard believes this may be an opportunity to recruit students by incentivizing them to access programs like the Summer Experience and Say Yes!

Ceo Gordon notes that it is intentionally design for CMSD students, including to recruit private and charter students.
CMSD's Chief Financial Officer Derek Richey shares that he has enrolled one of his children in a program. He also shared a story about how another parent surprised him with a text about CMSD programs & the easiness of registering for them.

CEO Gordon, "We will be hiring deliberately for a remote learning school for the Fall. Our primary preference is obvious in-person."
