KAMADA EKADASHI: TODAY

Also called Chaitra Shukla Ekadashi which is celebrated after Navratri and Ramanavami.

Kamada signifies a grant of desires.

It is believed that observing vrat on this day fulfils worldly desires, cleanses the consciousness and nullifies curses.

Once, an Apsara Lalita and Gandharva Lalit served in the court of Bhagipur king Pundarika. One day due to the absence of his beloved Lalita, Gandharva Lalit could not perform well in the court and Pundarik got annoyed. He cursed Lalit to transform into an ugly demon

Lalita also went after Lalit in sorrow. Years passed and she reached Vindhyachal mountain where she came across Rishi Shringi. He advised her to observe the fast of Kamada Ekadashi.
Lalita observed the vrat with dedication and by Vishnu’s grace, Lalit regained his original form.
