Jagannath Bhagwan symbolises Bhagwan Krishna/Bhagwan Vishnu. He is the Ishtadevta/Kuldevta for many.

After all who's he? Jagannath is a combination of two words - Jagat (world) and nath (Bhagwan/master); in short Bhagwan of the Universe.

He's also known as "Sarbam Rahasyam Purusottamasya” which denotes the origin of Purusottama Jagannath is mysterious and enigmatic.

His black face represents the void and he dwells in Mahashunya.

He's a simple crude wooden idol with two wooden stumps as hands, conspicuous absence of legs with two big round eyes indicating sun and moon emerging from a big black face which symbolizes the Universe. He is worshiped as the Daru-Brahma.

The word Daru is derived from Da-Dukha or sorrow and Ru-to give.

During the #SNANAPURNIMA , 108 copper and gold pots are filled with water from suna kuan (golden well) and kept on the bhoga mandap. These vessels are brought to snana bedi on this day.

This ritual is called Jalad Hibasa. The dieties are first offered red powder, & then taken to #snana bedi, their bodies covered with silk clothes. Pouring of water is accompanied by chanting of Pavamana.

Most historians - British as well as Indian, have described and dismissed the rising of 1857 as a ‘Sepoy Mutiny’ or at best ‘The Indian Mutiny’.

We all have read it in the similar fashion in our History Textbooks too.

Whereas several revolutionaries and freedom fighters regarded this as a strategy that was well planned, & organised to destroy the British power in India.

#Savarkar was the one who looked at it from the Indian perspective.

Being a revolutionary himself, he was inspired by the bravery, heroism, the burning passion, suffering and the unfortunate tragic fate of the leaders in 1857.

He decided to change the British and the Indian narrative about 1857.

He spent days and months in the 'India Office' library in London and accordingly wrote a book in Marathi in 1908.

He found it impossible to publish this in India and the original manuscript was returned to him back. He tried publishing the same in Germany but in vain.

Some Indian students at India House translated this in English and he could finally publish it in Holland in 1909 (almoat a year after he finished writing the book) under the title :

“THE INDIAN WAR OF INDEPENDENCE –1857”

Have anyone heard of Savarkar working for untouchables and opening a temple in Ratnagiri?

When Savarkar was under house arrest at Ratnagiri (Maharashtra), he toiled hard and persistently, for decades, to eliminate casteism (Jaat-based discrimination).

Result? Well, as Ambedkar himself noted, because of Savarkar's work Ratnagiri district and parts of Konkan were totally free of caste-based discrimination.

(We were always taught of Gandhi fighting for untouchables 😏)

He organised community feasts where people of all castes sat together and ate, he got temples opened for all castes, where properly trained priests from, what were traditionally considered, lower castes presided, he got thread-ceremony (Upanayana) performed on

thousands of ex-untouchable children, to raise the status of women in their own eyes and those of the society, he organized gatherings for women. There are hundred other things Savarkar did to end casteism.

Savarkar had said, "The Kashi Vishweshwara, Jagannath Puri, Dwarka, Rameshwar and other temples should be subject to certain rules and regulations, open to darshan for all Hindus of all castes. No Hindu shall be denied access on the basis of birth - based caste distinction.

RANI NAIKI DEVI AND THE BATTLE OF KASAHRADA

Mohammad Ghori, the young Ghurid Prince conquered Ghaznavids in Afghanistan in the year 1173 CE. He conducted some successful raids into the Indian territory, which even Mahmud Ghazni & the Persians couldn't do.

First&foremost,Ghori invaded states of Multan &Uch in India.After this he turned to southern states of Gujarat &Rajputana.Everybody knows this about Ghori,but what most pple r unaware of is the defeat he suffered at hands of Chalukyan Queen Naiki Devi in 1178 Battle of Kasahrada.

When he marched southwards, his first target was the prosperous fortified town of Anhilwara Patan.
It was the capital of Chalukyas(also known as Solankis of Gujarat) which was established by Vanraj of Chapotkata Dynasty in 8th century.

American historian Tertius Chandler states that it was the 10th largest city in the world at that time. The history of Chalukyas has been written by many historians, but the valour of the Great Queen Naiki Devi remains unsung.

Born to the Kadamba King Paramardin of Goa,Naiki Devi was well trained in sword fighting, horse riding, strategy & every other subject of Statesmanship. She was married to King Ajaypala of Gujarat who sat on throne in 1171CE. Unfortunately,the King died within 4 yrs of his rule.

This is a beautiful story of Guruvayurappan. Once there lived in Guruvayur a poor family. Kitta, his wife & kids were struggling for their daily needs. With only a coconut tree in house, he earned a living by selling coconuts.

Kitta was from a low caste family. He was a great devotee of Guruvayurappan. Everyday before going to work he always prayed infront of a picture of Guruvayurappan in his house. His only wish was to worship at Guruvayur & have annadanam in temple. But he was not allowed there

It was Utsavam time in Guruvayur. From far behind kitta and family worshipped Guruvayurappan. Annadanam was given daily and no one was left empty stomach. Only Kitta didn't receive. That night, it was only Kitta's family who was sleeping without food. After temple nada closed

Shri Krishna, dressed himself as a Brahmin went to temple Kitchen. He packed food and went directly to kitta's house. Reaching Kitta's house, Shri Krishna told he was sent by a cook of Guruvayur temple and gave them the food he packed. Kitta and family was very happy seeing food.

When Kitta finished his food, Brahmin asked it will be better if he get a tender coconut( karikku)to drink. Kitta climbed the tree and gave all coconuts to him. After having 1 tender coconut, the Brahmin asked to bring remaining coconuts to Guruvayur temple the next day.

In the last couple of days Russian propaganda has published a lot of content alleging that Poland staged provocations against the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. The content in question has employed narratives in use by the Kremlin in its influence activities against Poland. 1/6

Articles posted to Russian websites pick up false accusations against the Poles. These include bogus claims that Poland sabotaged the construction site of the Russia-to-Germany gas link and carried out a direct attack on the pipeline. 2/6

Some of the articles warn that the Kremlin may take retaliatory actions against Poland. Based on false accusations thrown by Russia, the Kremlin’s propaganda amplifies the calls by some journalists and contributors to embark on aggressive activities against PL. 3/6

The Russian media outlets publish a lot of materials that mock the Polish Navy. The narratives that denigrate this component of the Polish Armed Forces are based on opinions and quotes by single Polish Internet users. 4/6
