OM NAMO VENKATESHAYA....

Appalayagunta is a small town in puttur taluka, chittoor. Per legends Lord Venkateshwara married thaayar padmavathy in Narayanavanam and moved to Tirumala. On the way to Tirumala he visited shiv temple @ kailasanatha kona & blessed the saints. He then left for Vemula konda
& to fulfil the siddheswara muni’s wish, Sri Venkateshwara promised that he will stay and bless the devotees.
Siddheswara muni placed lord’s idol down the hill and built a temple & named it as “PRASANA VENKATESH WARA SWAMY”
There’s a cave in siddheswara hill, long back king karveti nagara was hiding in the cave during invader’s attack & since then it came to be known as “Doralu Dagina Konda” (Kings hiding cave). Currently per the locals there is a sword inside the cave and no matter how much effort
we put it’s unable to pull the same. Till date many utsavam are being conducted for this fascinating sword.
Based on the scriptures available it’s believed that temple was built by Karveti Nagara kings. In front of the temple there is a big pond which is the biggest of that region. It’s believed that while constructing the pond hundreds of coolies were hired and wages were paid to
the on daily basis at dusk not going with appulu (debt) with them. And thus, it’s a belief that this pond came to be called as “Appalaya Gunta”. And also, the town situated at the front side of the pond is also named “Appalaya Gunta”.
The main feature of this temple is that the vigraham (idol) is with “Abhaya Mudhra” and is seen only in this temple & not even in Tirupati or Tirumala.
The temple has some spiritual powers to liberate physical, mental and career related doshas. The imposing image of the wind-god present in this temple is worshipped by devotees to get rid of the chronic ailments.
