இதைச் "சித்திரகவி" என்றும் அழைப்பர்.

கவிதை முழுக்க முழுக்க திருக்குடந்தைப் பிரானின் பெருமையையும் குடந்தையின் இயற்கைக் காட்சிகளையும் காணலாம்.

பக்தியை எண்களில் வடித்து வெளிப்படுத்த முடியும் என்பதற்கு இப்பாசுரம் ஓர் எடுத்துக்காட்டு.

"செல்வம் மல்குதென் திருக்குடந்தை
அந்தணர் மந்திர மொழியுடன் வணங்க
ஆடு அரவு அமளியில் அறிதுயில் அமர்ந்த
பரம! நின் அடியிணை பணிவன்
வரும் இடர் அகல - மாற்றோ வினையே"

(அரவு அமளி = பாம்புப் படுக்கை)

என்று துன்பங்களைக் களைந்து அருள் தரும்படி பாசுரம் நிறைவு பெறுகின்றது.

Abhangs, a Marathi poetic pattern has caught up craze with Tamils of late. Abhangs are easy to follow with 4 lines and 4 syllables in each line used mainly in Sankirtan. So, trying to explain a popular abhang.

Majhe Maher Pandhari, Aahe Bhim Ratya tiri.. (or Bheevarechya tiri..)

Pandharpur is my maternal home, that is on the banks of River Bheema. (Maher = maternal home)

Maher in Marathi means maternal home! In Indian household, among women, the maternal home always has a special place. For every woman, even after decades of marriage and having lived in the extended family, maternal home (mother’s home) always remains a special place for her.

The reasons are very many but no place fills the place of a maternal home.

Sant Eknath, in this Abhang, describes Pandharpur as his maternal house – a very special place to him in his life, a place he always wishes to go, where he can go and stay at his own wish,

spend time at his own will and yet none complains. He gets all the liberty to do at this place. It is a place of respite for him. Or in another sense, Pandharpur is his real home.

AKASA GANGA THEERTHAM - Tirumala, Tirupati

Akasa Ganga Teertha, is around 5 km from the Tirumala main temple, the Holy Water comes out as a natural stream between hill rocks.

This sacred water is used for Srivari's daily abhishekam.

Devotees have to climb down the steps to reach this holy stream.

In the olden days, the priests took turns to carry this holy water all the way from this part of jungle to the temple, but, now TTD has laid water lines into the temple and thus simplified the process.

This Holy Teertha is also mentioned in the Vedas.

It is commonly believed that this Akasa Ganga originates from the Lotus feet of the main deity Sri Venkateshwara Swamy in Ananda Nilayam.

AKASA GANGA THEERTHAM STATED IN PURANAS:-

On the day the Lord had made Akasa Ganga appear in the hills the descendants of Tirumala Nambi perform Abhisheka (bathing) of the Lord with water from Akasa Ganga. This is continued even today.

A holy dip in this sacred stream provides the merit equivalent to performing hundred rituals.
Marriages can be performed here at this holy place.

Emperor Maandhata governed alongside his wife Indumathi, their three sons Purukutsa, Ambarisha, and Naabhaga, as well as fifty daughters, from their capital city of Ayodhya. The guru of the Rig Veda at that time was a famous sage by the name of Soubhari.

According to folklore, he performed penance for a period of twelve years underwater while a sizable fish lived nearby. In front of the Maharishi, that fish was always having fun with its wife and young ones.

Maharishi saw this, which caused him to lose focus on his penance. He began to consider: "This fish is extremely fortunate despite living in the water. It is quite content to spend undisturbed time with its family.

While the life of a housewife is undoubtedly quite lovely, my austere lifestyle is extremely painful.

The very word Navigation is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Navgatih’. The word navy is also derived from Sanskrit ‘Nou’.

There were Sanskrit terms for many parts of a ship. The ship’s anchor was known as Nava-Bandhan-Kilaha which literally means ‘a nail to tie up a ship’. The sail was called Vata Vastra, which means ‘wind-cloth’.

NARHARI AND BHAGWAN PANDURANG/VITTHAL

Once a goldsmith by the name of Narhari lived in Pandharpur. He excelled in his craft. He had vowed not to look at Pandurang or visit his mandir ever, as he was a Shiva Bhakt.
One day, a wealthy merchant visited him.

He wanted a gold girdle studded with precious gems, to be made for Prabhu Vitthal. Narhari refused to make it as it was for Vitthal.
After many requests, he agreed to make the girdle but asked the merchant to bring the measurement from the mandir as he himself would not go there

The measurement was given n he made the girdle. When the girdle was put on Vitthal, it was loose. Narhari had to shorten it. Now the girdle became tight. So Narhari was forced to take measurement on his own. He had to go to the mandir but went blindfolded to avoid seeing Vitthal

In the Mandir, when blindfolded Narhari touched Vitthal, he felt as if he was touching Shiva with matted hair, the moon, snake in His neck and Trishul in His hand. Ecstatic with joy, he removed the blindfold to see Shiva but he found the murti of Vitthal with Rukmini there.

He realised the truth that there was no difference between Vitthal and Shiva. Narhari at once fell at the feet of Panduranga. He then took the measurement of the waist of Vitthal and this time the ornament fit the Murti perfectly.
