WHY SHOOT OUR WOUNDED? - Ps. 109:21-31

A Detroit newspaper reportd that a patient in a local hospital was shot and killed as he lay in his bed recovering from a previous gunshot wound. The victim had been listed in fair condition prior to the shooting and was looking forward to

going home. Hospital patients and employees were stunned. A spokesperson said that nothing like this had happened in the 50yrs of the hospital's existence.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could say the same for our churches and relationships?

Wouldn't it be encouraging if we

were able to say that in 50yrs of meeting together for worship, fellowship and spiritual healing, we had not had a single instance of a wounded member being cut down by the unkindness of a fellow Christian?

Many among us have experienced the pain that David expressed in

Psalm 109. When he was hurt and vulnerable, insensitive people took advantage of him. Certainly, if he had sinned, he needed their loving correction. what he didn't need was their scorn, gossip, and selfish neglect.

Who shoots his foot after stubbing his toe?
No one in his

right mind and neither should anyone with the mind of Christ act unmercifully toward a wounded brother or sister in the body of Christ. Rather, we must "show mercy" (v.16).

Give me, Lord, a lot of mercy

As a business man or woman, You need people who have the ears of the great and mighty in our midst.

action(s) gives us great satisfaction, yet, the most important things are left unmonitored.

Our spiritual gauge may have been reading zero for a longtime unattended to.

Our walk with God may have been crooked, yet little or no attention has been paid to this....

Our desire to

study the Word may have been on the decline for as long as possible because of our seemingly important busy schedules.

Fellowship with God is now a quickie, done only when convenient and at times during rush hour in the bathroom, toilet or

Was studying a few verses in the book of 1Sam. Chapter 4, and I am struck by a few occurrences which are still common in today's world, even as we continually live on self denial. The Lori Iro kind of thing. Nothing thrives

when we live in self denial. There is no fresh start without doing the needful.

Let's take a look at;
1 Samuel 4:2 MSG
The Philistines marched out to meet Israel, the fighting spread, and Israel was badly beaten - about 4,000 soldiers left dead on the field.
1 Samuel 4:3 When

the troops returned to camp, Israel's elders said, "Why has God given us such a beating today by the Philistines? Let's go to Shiloh and get the Chest of God's Covenant. It will accompany us and save us from the grip of our enemies."

The catch here for me is this;

The elders

were quick to blame God for the overwhelming defeat and shame at the hands of the "godless" philistines, and as if that was not enough, they tried to "USE" God, like, He, God, was in their pockets, ready to be used at all times and for whatever purpose. It did not matter if God

was "busy, asleep, playing etc-(just used those catch phrases literally. We know God cannot be caught in any of those)

The point here is that, defeat started for them early, even before the battle.

God had expressed His anger against the prophet over israel (Eli) and his 2

Whispering Enemies, the Bible calls them in Hebs 1v13b TPT

"Take your seat next to me at my right hand until I force your whispering enemies to be a rug under your feet.”

These are some of d most potentially hurtful people.

They whisper everytime you record any accomplishment.

They make a mockery of everything God does for you and try to water it down.

They believe, it shouldn't have been you.
They believe, it should have been them.

They abound in the workplace, Family circle, neighbourhood. Infact, they are everywhere.

They are not bold enough to

congratulate you when others are doing so. They are mortally pained and wounded because, God chose you above them

For this reason, God, your God, has anointed you and poured out the oil of bliss on you
more than on any of your friends.”)

They are in the same "zip code" with Envy and jealousy

BUT;

They forgot one thing. God does not need their input when He wants to bless you and neither does He take into consideration their appraisal, approval or disapproval of you.

God says to tell you this morning;

JUDAS -Part 1

Mark 14:10-11
Our text today deals with a man named Judas Iscariot.

He is, without a doubt, d most notorious & most vilified of all d disciples.

His name appears last in every list of d disciples, except in Acts 1, where his name does not appear at all.

2. Every time he is mentioned in the Bible, the Word of God reminds us that he betrayed Jesus .

Judas was a failure as a disciple, and this why...
- He was exposed to the same teaching d others heard.
- He saw d same miracles & was involved in the same ministries.

3. Yet, Judas never came to saving faith in Jesus Christ.
Judas spent 3 years with d Jesus & he died lost.
- The others were converted during their time with d Lord; Judas only became spiritually hard, calloused & hateful.

1. The other eleven disciples were used of God in amazing ways.
2. Their lives demonstrate the truth that common, ordinary people can be used of the Lord in extraordinary ways.
3. Judas, on the other hand, stands as a stark warning about the dangers of wasted opportunities,

5. hardness of heart, wicked lusts, and spiritual carelessness.
While Judas could be considered a failure as a disciple, he was the most successful hypocrite of all time.
1. He played his part so well that no one but Jesus Himself knew that Judas was a fraud and a pretender.
